PPoppy LeeI stayed at Courtyard by Marriott Edinburgh from 22 February to 26 February 2026 in Room ***. Unfortunately, my experience fell significantly below the service and housekeeping standards expected of the Marriott brand.
1) 22 February 2026 (Check-in)
Upon arrival, I immediately noticed several cleanliness issues with my room. The kettle was dusty and visibly dirty, the shower gel was completely empty, there were noticeable stains on the bed sheets, the shower room floor was unclean, and the shower water pressure was extremely poor. I reported these issues to the front desk on the same day.
In addition, during the check-in process, the staff did not provide any information about hotel amenities, such as gym operating hours, availability of facilities like the ice machine or microwave, or other services. I only became aware of some of these facilities on my last day during check-out, which was disappointing.
2) 23 February 2026
The shampoo had run out and was not replenished during housekeeping services. I emailed the Front Office Manager regarding both the missing amenities and the ongoing low shower pressure issue. I did not receive any response.
3) 24 February 2026
The situation continued. Coffee and tea bags were not refilled, the stained bed sheets had still not been changed since Day 1 check-in, and both shampoo and conditioner were empty. I called the same Front Office Manager twice, and only shampoo was delivered. I then contacted the front desk twice more to clearly request conditioner, yet incorrect items were delivered again. As a result, the conditioner remained unreplenished for me for 3 consecutive days (22–24 February).
4) 25 February 2026
In the morning, I requested a new toothbrush through the front desk and was told housekeeping would provide one during housekeeping service. When I returned to my room after housekeeping, no toothbrush had been supplied.
I later learned that when Trip.com contacted the hotel on my behalf regarding the service lapses, the Operations Manager informed them that everything had been “addressed and settled with me” which was not accurate. While individual staff members made partial attempts to assist, the repeated housekeeping lapses, lack of follow-up, and unresolved maintenance issue reflect systemic operational shortcomings rather than isolated mistakes. Throughout my entire stay (22–26 February), the shower water pressure issue remained unresolved.
The hotel’s location is excellent and within walking distance of many major attractions, which helps save on public transport costs. However, good location alone does not compensate for the overall service deficiencies experienced during this stay. As a paying guest, I expected basic cleanliness, consistent replenishment of amenities, and responsive service, especially from a reputable hotel property like Marriott. Unfortunately, those expectations were not met during this stay.

The stay was comfortable and affordable, but there are a few areas that could be improved. The food lounge serves the same items every day, and the options are quite limited. Additionally, although parking is chargeable, it’s still very difficult to find a spot late at night. I returned from the Scotland Highlands around 23:30 and couldn’t find any available parking at the hotel

PPengguna TetamuMy stay at Four Points by Sheraton Edinburgh has been overall very satisfactory. The location can be quite tricky but I did not mind the walk to Princes Street which is about 10 minutes. The amenities provided were good and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
The cleaning staff did a good job but since it is a rug flooring, I found that nails from previous guests were still on the flooring which indicated it needed a proper cleaning process.
The check-out time of the hotel (11 a.m.) does not coincide with that on the site (12 00) but it was not an issue since the staff let us keep the room until 11 30 a.m.

The only complaint I have is about the amenities. There was no dental kit provided in the room and when requested for, I was asked to come down to the reception to collect it rather than have housekeeping deliver to the room. There was no single use slippers either and I had to pay £5 for it which I felt was pretty excessive for a disposable pair of slippers.. I paid for it anyway since I needed it. The staff were kind about it though and could do nothing as it was hotel policy.
Hope Novotel can review its policies on the provision of these amenities.

PPengguna TetamuAbsolutely amazing. We arrived very late due to heavy snow- they checked us in and organised an extra bed literally within 2 minutes of arriving. The service is efficient and rapid. The gentleman who looked after our room in house keeping was awesome, he helped us settle in and the little touches to make the kids feel special was duly noted.
The manager down on the reception desk was excellent. Everything is managed very well, there is no waiting and the service is outstanding.
The view at breakfast is amazing! Mountains in the distance covered in snow. Our stay was better than expected. Parking ✅ Swimming pool and sauna ✅ Food ✅ Service ✅
The hotel location is convenient and the restaurant space is open plan and cosy yet very busy. The hotel does need some updated but everything works well.
The location is literally next to the zoo and the overflow car park 🅿️ is next to the hotel.
The staff here are outstanding. High praise. Thank you.

Staff are lovely, and were so helpful when I had a medical emergency and needed to go to the ER in the middle of the night. They also were so good with helping me extend my stay by one night at the last minute due to said emergency. The front desk team also checked how I was doing when I came back! The cleaning team did at one point only do a half clean, where they cleaned the main room but not the bathroom, and another time left supplies in my room. But that was minor as my bathroom wasn’t really dirty anyway. I do wish the breakfast closed a little later (closes at 10am) but that is also just me being a late riser! Altogether a great stay.

EElsawithanEThe location is great. The shared kitchen is clean and well equipped. The staff are friendly. The only problem with the room is the toilet lights. It is automatic lights so there is no light switch. The lights turn off every 30 seconds, and I need to wave my hand to turn it on, which is annoying. Other than that, everything was good.

My friend and I recently had the pleasure of staying at this lovely property, and we had an excellent experience. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed with the attention to detail and the warmth of the staff. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring we both got a restful night’s sleep.
What truly stood out, however, was the level of service. I was feeling a bit under the weather during our stay, and the staff went above and beyond by bringing breakfast directly to our room, which was a thoughtful and much-appreciated gesture. This level of care really goes a long way in making guests feel valued.
For those who prefer to enjoy their breakfast with a bit of fresh air, the hotel also has a charming terrace where you can take your meal while soaking in the surroundings. It's the perfect way to start the day if you want to enjoy a bit of sunshine.
The location is also a major plus. It’s just a short walk to the city center, making it easy to explore, and for those who prefer not to walk, a quick 5-minute bus ride will take you wherever you need to go.
The lounge area at the hotel is another highlight. It’s spacious, cozy, and thoughtfully equipped with blankets to keep guests comfortable if the temperature drops. It provided the perfect spot to unwind after a day of sightseeing.
Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the area. The combination of comfort, thoughtful service, and a prime location makes it a top choice. We will definitely be staying here again when we return!

The receptionist are accommodating and friendly especially Hari give star for the good service. Aside from the shower which is very hot that you cant even take a shower.
