Solo visit as visiting the city, Edinburgh always been on my ”bucket” list and this hotel is just a gem! Not a 5 star building but most definitely a 5 star experience. I was met by Anthony who checked me in promptly and efficiently, he was very informative and helped me with a few tourist things. My room was perfectly fine, a little dated but nothing drastic. Breakfast perfectly cooked and everything you could have wanted, loved the porridge. I will be back again!

The hotel is in a great location, within walking distance to many places. The breakfast was simple but sufficient. The staff were friendly, and the room size was reasonable. Overall, a solid choice for a comfortable stay. no

The hotel is about 10min away from the Edinburgh Waverley station. Next to Edinburgh conference centre. Good neighbourhood. Paying for breakfast £13 each. Normal breakfast. Good Christmas decoration and very nice and cozy sofa set to sit and view the vibrant activities outside the big windows. A plus point. Public transport needs at least 7-10 min walk to bus stop or tram station and restaurants

Before you arrive, make sure you sort your parking at QPark at Omni nearby if you are driving. You have to book it in advance online and use the discount code. The procedure changed in April (apparently) between the time of us booking and the date of arrival, nobody told us, and QPark point blank refused to honour the discount code when we drove out, whilst the hotel receptionist just shrugged his shoulders when we told him at check out. That cost me 14 pounds extra, which was just annoying - and not really how you treat a Platinum member and at 24 pounds a day full price per day or part of day, the parking is not cheap. We had a bigger room with a sofa bed (318), which was fine and the bathroom was big. But again when the shower gel dispenser ran out we asked for it to be replaced in the morning at the check in desk, but returned that evening and it was still empty. The towels were changed every day, the double bed was small, but the room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was often crowded, a basic buffet, but the bar staff were friendly the lobby is a haven of peace in which to sip a cider. There is no fitness room or gym, and the property is expensive in peak season for an Holiday Inn Express. At the end of the stay, I did not feel I had received value for money especially when hit by QPark's larceny. But the internet worked fine and the location is very convenient...

Good location and close to Waverley station (around 8-9 mins) Bars, Eateries and a Sainsbury is nearby too - Hotel doesnt provide bottled water or toiletries (although on my request i was provided cotton buds and shower cap) The hotel is beginning to age and needs urgent refurbish - we went during summers so needed Air Conditioning at night - with the constant Air con noise - i did not have a good night sleep, had to change my room next day which the staff helped immediately however even in the new room same air con noise issue. If the facilities and rooms are refurbished then would return. Overall decent stay

It was very easy to find the Hotel, by bus, from the centre of Edinburgh. All the staff were very friendly and professional. When I told them that we’d been cold the previous night, they brought a heater up to our room. Excellent breakfast ( including vegetarian sausages when I asked if they had any ). There was also a gluten free trolley.

Spacious rooms, twin rooms available for friends trip. Good shower and some complementary tea and cookie in the room. Unexpected that baggage storage was not free after checkout. Location is a bit far from the center, but close to Dean village and nice river walk. Could be good for a longer stay. Overall good experience.

I think the hotel location is very good, almost touching the royal mile with just few meters away. This hotel is suitable for solo or business travelers as this is an express hotel. The room we got was very small in size 19m2 not suitable for family with a kid. There was no refrigerator in the room. Breakfast was very ordinary with very few options so, I will not suggest to take breakfast at this hotel, in fact people can scout on royal mile for a decent restaurant. Overall, 1 or 2 days should be ok without much hassle but if you are planning to spend some more time then I will not suggest for this hotel. Staff was always helpful and they do the best to guide you for things.

We really enjoyed staying here....although the room never had a kettle for tea ,coffee etc, you could still get a drink free downstairs. The rooms are compact but they have everything you need and lets face it you won't be staying there for weeks on end. Not much on menu..pizza or panini but we actually enjoyed the panini heated and a beer. Staff very helpful nothing too much trouble for them and thanks for the extra pillows. The boys from Latvia and Lithuania. They certainly had their hands full when coach arrived with customers. Breakfast bit limited be nice to have something hot to eat but apart from that we loved our stay and hope to definitely come back

Our visit was gift from our daughter. 4day stay was very pleasant. Room was compact, clean but on the 3rd floor with no lift was quite tiring! Reception staff, cleaning staff and breakfast room staff - super, helpful, welcoming, pleasant, hardworking and efficient. The Breakfast room being in another building was a bit odd! But the food was very good. Plenty of choices of hot or cold.” Hot” was quite cold for me, one morning, but staff microwaved it without a scene!!!
