Hotel berhampiran Fennsee, Berlin

The hair dryer in my room was not working. The room was so cold. The receptions could not speak English very well so they couldn’t understand my words. It was claimed that there would be a vending machine actually it was but it does not have water as the most important thing! The location is a little bit far away from public transportation.

Both myself and my partner (both 22) visited Berlin for the first time for 3 days (4 nights). The hotel is easily accessible by train (closest station is Charolttenburg) or by 45 minute taxi (roughly €50-€60), and is located in a quiet side street, but very close to the city centre and main attractions. Hotel is Scandinavian themed, has a lovely peaceful atmosphere and very friendly staff, who went above and beyond to answer any questions we had. Although check-in and check-out times are displayed on Booking.com, they desk is manned 24/7 and they are very flexible. The rooms are cosy, perhaps on the smallish side, but very suitable for a couple and a place to rest in between days of exploring the city. The beds are VERY comfortable and soft; we unfortunately didn’t have a double bed, but two singles pushed together. This wasn’t an issue, but it may have been nice to have an option to provide a double duvet rather than two singles if it is a room shared by a couple. Very powerful waterfall shower. The bathroom is very modern, and is separated by sliding frosted glass partitions. This was absolutely fine for us as a couple and what we expected, as it is clearly advertised as so on Booking.com. However this may be an issue if you are sharing a room with someone in which you would like more privacy whilst using the bathroom. We didn’t pay for breakfast included, but given the option to use this service and pay at the end of our stay. Breakfast runs from early to late morning, plenty of options of hot food (bacon, eggs, sausage), pastries and breads, fresh fruit, a selection of cold meats and cheeses, yogurt, cereal and even a waffle maker! Very reasonable at €12 pp (have included an image). Overall, very happy with the stay, and feel that it is good quality for money paid — the only reason why we didn’t score this hotel at 5 stars is that we felt it could be a good addition to have a small kettle, and complimentary coffee, tea and milk in the room, to in the evenings. Recommendations: The 24 hour train tickets is only €8.80, can be bought from any station, and allows you to travel as often as possible on both the overground and underground. Download the ‘BVG Fahrinfo: Routes and Tickets’ app (yellow and black app icon). It lets you plan journeys on the overground and underground trains, see the most convenient route to get from A to B, how much the ticket will cost, and when and where the trains departs from. Take the train from Charlottenburg to Hackescher Markt- lots of lovely restaurants to eat in (especially ‘Barist’) and a lovely spot by the river to sit on deckchairs in the sun and order some drinks in ‘James-Simon-Park’ (have included an image). Really good Chinese restaurant ‘Lychee’, about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Lovely atmosphere and amazing food.

The hotel is near the Savignyplatz station, which is a good area. Another plus was that the room was very clean. However, it should not be advertised as a hotel with a gym & sauna. The “gym” was a small room with a treadmill and a cable machine, and the sauna was not working at all. I wouldn’t have booked this hotel if the right information was available.

Staff were nice and pleasant. Good part of town with convenient transport links. Room was spacious and light. Able to open windows to a leafy quiet street. Style of interior isn't that of a super modern hotel.. it feels slightly dated but kept clean and tidy. Only bad points for me is the pungent stink coming from the bathroom, which I can only put down to old plumbing/drainage systems. A quite unbearable sulferous whiff which reached a highpoint in the morning 'showering' time... The aforementioned windows had to be opened wide. Apart from that it was fine, okay for a short stop Didn't partake in any of the dining or breakfast on offer

Some of these reviews are very harsh but if you have stayed in a pension before it meets expectations. I was worried at the beginning when I read the reviews but pleasantly surprised. Very little English is spoken but enough to get by. Breakfast was a buffet German style and well stocked with cold meat and cheese, bread and cereals. The single room was small but had a sink and shower cubicle in. The balcony was a plus. What made this a 3 star review? The noise, the first night I was woken up at 3am by shouting in the corridor (it wasn't English or German). At its a pension there is no 24 hour reception or security people which means it's up to people to be conscious of others. Most mornings I was spoken up by others (thankfully not as early). The surrounding area is ok but people to drink/smoke on the steps from the bar next door. Would I come back yes but with ear plugs! As for the price is very good!

This hotel is in a great location close to quite a few restaurants and metro station and bus stops. There is also a parking garage (20 euros a night) not too far from the hotel. It is a bit odd to enter the hotel. The elevator takes you to reception (at the top of the building) then you have to take a separate elevator from reception to the floor your room is on. The rooms were clean and spacious. The bar has a lovely rooftop area to sit at.

Have stayed at a few hotels in Berlin - and this is the one I keep coming back to - location, and value for money - design and comfort and tranquillity and harmony of design - staff always very professional, helpful and most welcoming and friendly - breakfast is a wonderful indulgence. Although the location and price for this hotel is great, the rooms themselves were disappointing. When entering the room for our first night I was immediately concerned about the room, with some wall fittings falling off, what seemed to be a lack of smoke alarm, one small bedside lamp and a tv relatively small and far from the bed along with only one alternative chair. Despite these shortcomings the room is quite spacious and beds relatively fine, with somewhat good soundproofing on the windows to stop the noise of the busy streets. Although these negatives would have been outweighed by the positives, we also had no room cleaning our entire 6 night stay which was highly disappointing. We would be awakened by the cleaners relatively early in the morning however usually we slept through this first attempt to clean. Most hotels would assume someone is asleep and come back and clean after they have gone about their day however this did not occur for our entire trip duration. To make matters worse we had no toilet roll replacements and had to source our own. In addition, on our 5th night they did Infact enter our room, they did Not take our overflowing bin, towels from the specified pick up area, change our sheets or make our beds or clean any portion of the room as expected of them. All they did was give us toilet roll. Very disappointing considering the ideal location for the hotel and the price.(although much cheaper than anywhere else in the area so some disappointment to be expected)

The hotel is clean, modern and well-staffed. What was missing for us was warmth and the expected level of hospitality. During our 5-day stay, nobody ever said hello, goodbye or communicated in any manner unless we asked a direct question. When I checked out, the only thing the receptionist said was to remind me I had borrowed an electrical adaptor and to return it. I travel frequently and expect hotels to be warm and welcoming. Also, when I checked in I was given no hotel information other than the E25 breakfast hours. I'm sure it's wonderful, but I since only have coffee, there is no reason to pay 25 euros. Because we didn't go to breakfast and the receptionist didn't tell us, we missed many features of the hotel we might have enjoyed. To further our disappointing stay, there was no printed hotel info in our room other than a book about the featured artist. I hate QR codes, but when I scanned the hotel's, it gave sp**** information. The hotel lobby isn't welcoming and I didn't go to the bar until my last night so was unaware of all the things Art'otel would have liked me to know. The magazine was interesting and beautiful. Why isn't there a copy in guest rooms? The local information and maps were available in the breakfast area, but we didn't go there and weren't offered them by hotel staff. One of the reasons I chose the hotel was the pictures of beautiful bathrooms with tubs. Sadly, the website fails to mention that tubs are only available in expensive suites. Our visit, while nice, was overpriced. We paid for hospitality and a good room, but only the room was up to the expected standards. Very disappointing.

Excellent location with easy connections to explore entire city. Very touristy vibe which is good for tourists and visitors. Would be back with family.
