Hotel berhampiran Vodafone Shop, Berlin

We spent 3 nights in the hotel, from june 14 to june 17 in the hopes that we could rest and sleep a little longer than we usually do on a working day. Instead, we woke up at 9:00 on our first morning (june 15) to the sound of hammering and repairments. We tried to ignore it, like it's a one time thing. The second morning, again at 9:00 but this time to drilling sounds. We count take it anymore so we called the reception to ask them whats going on, why cant this be done at least around noon, so we can properly rest in the hotel, that adverrtises itself as ”Ibis Styles Berlin Treptow provides quiet, comfortably equipped rooms and conference facilities.” (Quoted from ***********). The receptionist just told us, that at least its not 6 in the morning, 9 should be enough for everyone to rest, and thats it. No info was given about these reparations on any site (accor, ***********, etc). On booking, it only warns about the restaurant not working which I think its not as important to know as having to listen to a drilling sound in my room in the morning. The elevator shaft is on the 9th floor, and they didnt care to warn anyone by email or in person, that these rooms are going to hear these repairs more (or they didnt consider not renting those rooms in this period). This is were I want to also state, that there were no infos given on the fact, that there is a whole construction happening right next to the hotel, of an actual skyscraper or similar sized building. Its not super loud, but you can hear it with windows closed. Also, the sink was not working, and I wonder, how the cleaners did not notice it (tip: they didnt clean it, as it would have filled up instantly if they did). When we left, another receptionist asked us how our stay was, and we explained everything to him. His reply was, I quote: ”we are really sorry, but our manager has been really busy with a lot of things, so he couldn't make time to update the webpage/booking.com” which I find kind of a pointless thing to ad. I think properly informing your paying customers regarding what they will get for their money should be priority number 1, since your whole business is built around those people paying for your service. Anyways, as we told him too, if we knew about the elevator having to be fixed at 9 o'clok for 2 of the 3 days we stayed there, we wouldn't have chosen that hotel. Following this, we wrote an email to Accor, but Ibis replied instead (with accor in cc at least) wich I will add as an image, but I want to extract this part: ”We cannot stop the construction work as it is urgent. We can't close the hotel for that either. 9 am in the morning on a normal working day is a reasonable time and normal working hours agreed with the hotel manager. We are sorry that you could not sleep in longer than 9 o'clock and therefore did not have a pleasant stay. However, we very much hope for your understanding that we cannot do anything about the current circumstances either.” We replied

Don't be deceived by the first look of it. I was though as it looks like a building block standing in the middle of a construction site. However, the interior was surprisingly nice. A bit like student dorm or studio flats rather than hotel rooms actually, albeit in a more luxury version. Good: 1. Close to public transport. 2. Specious room with lots of power sockets and storage spaces 3. very modern and comfy bath room and bed. 4. Plenty of natural light through huge windows ( at least the one I stayed ) 5. very affordable price, especially if you want to stay close to BER airport. Things can be improved : A few USB power sockets would be nice. Things to be aware of/ warned: If you are very concerned about cyber security as I am, you should take note. The hotel free WIFI is NOT password protected so there is zero security but even if there is one, you should know there is still risks. My SIM didn't work with roaming so I had to use the hotel free wifi for some urgent tasks. At first, the wifi name popped up on my screen was ” Citty Guest ”, I knew the spelling of double t looked dodgy but then that's the only one popped up and perhaps some German set up this spelled it wrong. So I used it. Then the day after when I used the wifi there were two available : Citty Guest and CITY GUEST. It was really unsettling to think that the one I used previous day might be a bogus setting up just to trick people into thinking it was the real one. When I asked the reception which one is the right one, I was told the ” CITY GUEST ” is the right one. ( My heart sank ) I made her aware of the existence of the one name ” Citty Guest ” but she just said she doesn't know anything about it and it should be ok. But if she knew nothing about it how can she know it's ok? She doesn't look more an IT expert than I am. To this day I still have no idea whether I was being tricked into using a bogus wifi connections and I was so nervous that I changed all my passwords when I got back home ( but it wouldn't help if the device has been hacked ) but just so you know. If you see both ” Citty Guest ” and ” CITY GUEST ” pop up on your screen, go for the latter one unless you have been told the otherwise.

The front desk staff was very accommodating in getting me into my room quite early after an overnight flight. Rooms leave much to be desired. Beds are very tiny - what a toddler would sleep on. Beds are very, very firm. Room and bathroom weren't very clean. I had my 'do not disturb' sign on my door and received a knock from housekeeping. Repeatedly. When I went to the door, thinking the sign must have fallen off, the housekeeper pushed past me, handed me my 'do not disturb' sign and insisted I replace it with the 'clean my room' sign. It is a 20-30 minute drive to city center. The area is questionable for walking around on your own as a female traveler.

I recently visited this hotel with my boyfriend and I was very impressed. We arrived a little before check-in and we were allowed to go to our room. the room was very spacious with an extremely comfy bed and amazing shower. Also on the last day our flight was not for a while and were were allowed to wait in the lobby after checkout which had lovely sofas and seating areas. It was quiet and there were people working in there. The staff were very lobely and was great for the price.

Perfect location to stay while in Berlin. My wife and I booked not knowing its right across the street from the last remaining section of the Berlin Wall. Bonus! The hotel is very clean, has friendly service and is priced better than any surrounding hotels. The breakfast was excellent and the room was cleaned daily. The location is teriffic, nearby to a subway station to get around the city. There's some bad data out there regarding parking: You have 3 options. 1.) €17 in a parking garage right next to the hotel. 2.) €10 at the East Side Mall, a 5 minute walk away. 3.) Free, near the wall but its location is unknown. East Side Mall was our preference. No need to look anywhere else. Book it!

The hotel is clean, modern and well-staffed. What was missing for us was warmth and the expected level of hospitality. During our 5-day stay, nobody ever said hello, goodbye or communicated in any manner unless we asked a direct question. When I checked out, the only thing the receptionist said was to remind me I had borrowed an electrical adaptor and to return it. I travel frequently and expect hotels to be warm and welcoming. Also, when I checked in I was given no hotel information other than the E25 breakfast hours. I'm sure it's wonderful, but I since only have coffee, there is no reason to pay 25 euros. Because we didn't go to breakfast and the receptionist didn't tell us, we missed many features of the hotel we might have enjoyed. To further our disappointing stay, there was no printed hotel info in our room other than a book about the featured artist. I hate QR codes, but when I scanned the hotel's, it gave sp**** information. The hotel lobby isn't welcoming and I didn't go to the bar until my last night so was unaware of all the things Art'otel would have liked me to know. The magazine was interesting and beautiful. Why isn't there a copy in guest rooms? The local information and maps were available in the breakfast area, but we didn't go there and weren't offered them by hotel staff. One of the reasons I chose the hotel was the pictures of beautiful bathrooms with tubs. Sadly, the website fails to mention that tubs are only available in expensive suites. Our visit, while nice, was overpriced. We paid for hospitality and a good room, but only the room was up to the expected standards. Very disappointing.

Very convenient location, just 3 mins walk to Main Station. Signed up for member for free and received free city transportation travel card (S-Bahn, U-Bahn, Tram, Bus, VBB). Breakfast at ground floor dining hall with variety of food. We enjoy the button mushroom stew with herbs, croissant is very good as well. Reception are friendly and helpful. No teabag, coffee and kettle in the room. Ground floor have bar, can ask for hot water from there. Room is clean and soundproof is super great even just right beside Main Station.

The hotel is near the Savignyplatz station, which is a good area. Another plus was that the room was very clean. However, it should not be advertised as a hotel with a gym & sauna. The “gym” was a small room with a treadmill and a cable machine, and the sauna was not working at all. I wouldn’t have booked this hotel if the right information was available.

A very affordable option that you should look at if you do not mind the distance. It is right outside of the main city, but it’s clean and safe, there’s a fantastic local pub down the road.
