In a good spot for buses to and from Hobart. Had plenty of parking for those with cars. TV left a lot to be desired, ie had sound but rarely picture. Heating worked well. Shower was good. Easy to hear those outside but as they tend to be trades persons they go to bed early, during the week. Bed was comfortable; small bar fridge but adequate for my needs; microwave and water jug worked well. Five minute walk from Coles and about 10 minutes to Woolworths. Have stayed there a few times and I keep coming back, especially with Trip.com prices.

Positives: Beautiful building in a lovely quiet location Large, spacious and clean room and bathroom If any issues are raised, they are dealt with very apologetically Grateful for a packed breakfast on the last morning, as we were leaving before anyone arrived for the day Appeared very clean and tidy throughout with a French-style decor About 15-20 easy drive from Hobart Negatives: Room was not as stunning as the pictures suggest - pretty, but not 'wow' We had no curtains on 4 windows - the main front light shone into the room and if you were in the shower, the room opposite had a free show! No lifts and precarious staircases No-one to help with luggage Super small TV that was not much bigger than my laptop screen! Hard to get someone to answer the phone at reception - either before arrival or when you are staying There is no aircon - it did not bother us as it was winter, but worth noting if visiting in summer The main part of the building is freezing cold - the staff were wearing overcoats to serve, which did not look professional at all, but completely understood why they did as it was less than 10 degrees in the restaurant area Breakfast was stone cold and had to be sent back (only 3 other people staying, so not busy) Breakfast included baked beans but we were given a serving of just 9 baked beans.... There are just 2 young Asian girls running the 'hotel' - they work crazy hours and seem to do everything from check-in, to waitressing, cooking and possibly make the rooms up too!! The 'hotel' main door is locked at 9.30pm and we were essentially left alone in the building all night Key information not provided on check-in - ie breakfast runs from 7.45am to 9.15am only or info on wi-fi We don't recall any fire evacuation details in the room (but maybe we missed it?). We could not find any emergency contact details either in the room if something happened at night We had to remind the staff we had a Luxury Escapes package to get the basket of produce and a free drink AND..... think about bringing your own towels! They have a policy of charging $50 if you get any make-up on the white towels!! Fortunately we saw this and used the make-up remover they had in the bathroom but we were so paranoid of getting any marks on anything!!! We suggest they have darker coloured towels because we felt this was a ridiculous rule when you pay so much to stay in the first place. Would we stay again? No. We left feeling stressed and not at all relaxed, It is not a 5 star location at all - just a lovely 'home' that is more akin to a boutique B&B. We considered eating dinner but with just 3 mains to choose from, we couldn't justify the cost at all. Overall, the villa needs some maintenance and with the 2 young girls run off their feet, we're not sure how this will ever be done. It could be so much better. We were slightly disappointed as this had been a weekend to celebrate my husband's birthday!

Great location in bush setting. All informatiin sent in email before stay was helpful, so access was easy. Self contained cabin,with all you need, included. Great for short, or longer stays. Not far from city centre

The 2 bedroom unit was decorated to match the older style home. We chose the Waterview apartment mainly to sit on the balcony but sadly was too cold. The bedroom we stayed in was very comfortable. With a large bed and table to use. Bit noisy from road. The bathroom small. Step into bath for shower. Kitchen had everything but we didn’t cook. Great to have washing machine/dryer. Lounge area spacious however a very small TV which isn’t the usual, needs to be updated. The iron too? The only heating is a wall heater in lounge room and 1 bedroom and a portable oil heater in 2nd bedroom which we had to move into our bedroom to keep us warm enough. Kitchen was freezing. I wouldn’t like to stay there in the cold months. The larder across the road has closed down but is replaced by BlacFig which is a huge coffee/deli place.

This motel had been recommended to us by relatives for our first Tasmanian trip. We'd chosen a ground floor Queen room and frankly it was the only real disappointment in our trip. To call the shoebox-sized ground-floor Queen room a Queen room is laughable. It might be big enough for a couple of kids with a backpack but for two adult travellers with suitcases the small room was totally inadequate. It's the smallest motel room we have ever been in anywhere in the world. The bed is supposed to be Queen size but we doubt it and the linen was to small for the frame. At 3am every morning we had to re-make the bed as the sheets and matress topper became totally undone. We will not be staying here again and if you have motre than a backpack do not choose the ground floor rooms. The only plus was it was close to the car park.

When it comes to writing a manual on how to own and operate a small boutique hotel then the manager Robert Devine and his team at The Rivulet must've written it. We were upgraded to the ''Alonnah Suite'' from a ground floor room for our two night stay in mid December. The quality of the room amenities were outstanding. The bed was super comfortable and the bathroom beyond exceptional. Being at the back of the hotel the room was also very quiet with lovely views of Mt Wellington from the free standing claw foot bath. The breakfast was to die for. A smorgasbord of fresh produce all tastefully presented.

I am very disappointed as I thought I booked a room in Wrest Point but instead it was in adjacent property called Motor Inn. I felt that I have been cheated as the picture in the booking details showed me Wrest point Towel and not Motor Inn. I thought the room was called Motor Inn as I have not been there to know the existence of Motor Inn. When I queried about it, they said it was the agent's (trip.com) fault . To move to the main tower will cost me an extra of $80. I felt I have been conned and they should have placed the Motor Inn building photo instead of the tower of Wrest Point in their website for booking. (It is deceptive marketing - show you a ferrari for sale and got a lemon after you have paid for it) Motor Inn is an old building and does not have lifts to the room we were allocated and being retirees , we have to carry our bags up to 2 flights of stairs. On top of that, the room walls were not sound proof and you can hear every customer slamming their doors and flushing their toilets. I thought we have booked the room with the sea view instead there were only bushes as a window view. It was so embarrassing when I thought I could request for a room on a higher floor in wrest tower for good views but instead shown out of the door to an old adjacent building call Motor Inn. In all its websites and advertising, there is not 1 photo to show Motor Inn as Wrest Point . It has always being the tower used to promote the sale of their rooms. The Bistro food is poor quality and costly. We order from the caviary and the food came out to be cold and dry. We wanted to try the other 2 restaurants Kwan Ho and the one on the 17 th floor in the main tower but were told they were close. I thought being a top notch hotel, their restaurant will be open 7 days instead they are closed 2 days.( sun and mon). - the days we were there sat,sun,mon) They have a fantastic location but sad to say they don't have the marks of a 5 star hotel. Beautifully maintained and appointed BnB Manor. Easily located within walking distance of Sandy Bay shopping district with a great variety of restaurants and cafés, groceries and all resources. The rooms are spacious with a beautiful four poster bed and very comfortable mattress. A clean and equipped ensuite, ensures privacy. A continental breakfast is provided with variety to suit every taste. The breakfast room overlooks the cottage garden and was warm & cosy. A fully stocked kitchen is available if you want to fend for yourself. A relaxing lounge area provides a quiet place to escape or relax, with a complimentary port should you wish to partake. Parking on site makes the transition to your room easy. A wonderful stay, close to everything, and an easy drive to so many of Tasmania’s attractions & tours. Great communication from our host, ensured we wanted for nothing. We felt like the Lord and Lady of the ‘Manor’. Highly recommended.
