Highly disappointed due the poor efforts from the front desk on everything. It seems the team is just trained to do the basic and avoid going beyond expectations. Problem with the deposit: blame the guest. Request to change a room: ignored without not even checking their system for availability. Call Center: never a clear answer. Facilities are fine, location is fine, but service needs to be highly improved.

This is a 3 star hotel which somehow fluked a 4 star rating. I stayed in two other hotels in Romania rated as 3-star and both were much better quality (and cheaper). Despite picking the most expensive room, there were numerous minor deficiencies. The window was tiny (notice how it’s carefully excluded from the photographs) and looked straight onto a decaying concrete wall, offering quite the most dismal outlook I can recall in many years of visiting hotels. This was not improved by the poor room lighting, nor by the failure of the window to close properly. The bathroom had hopelessly inadequate space to put toiletries. The reading light was supposed to be adjustable but always sprang back to its favourite position. The stairway lights didn’t work properly, making them dangerous to descend. The bed was uncomfortable. The breakfast croissants were stale. The breakfast staff, however, deserve credit. They were friendly and helpful. The location is also good.

When i got there, I was told I was too early (fair enough, check-in is from 2 pm and i got there around 11.30) I had sort of anticipated this, so thought i would just kill some time at the skybar which supposedly has a great view - but much to my surprise, I was told the skybar was closed, only open for breakfast. Must be the biggest attraction of the hotel, and in their wisdom, they close it! So instead, I took a walk heading towards the parliament building which is preety close by. When i returned a while later, room was now ready but oh by the way, the lift doesnt work! So i now had to carry luggage up the fire exit staircase (room was on 4th floor). Very narrow and poorly lit, so if you have trouble walking - good luck. Just hope you dont meet somebody coming down - passing them will be a challenge :-) Reception said lift would be fixed in a day or two!! So i made it to the room and cannot really decide what to think of it. On the one hand, it was spotlessly clean and looked very new and modern but on the other hand: No coffee / tea, There was a minibar with some wine and soft drinks but no beer,No glasses to be found anywhere (so I guess, just drink the wine from the bottle),WiFi works but not very stable - keeps dropping out. At breakfast, the skybar was now open - 2 people in front of me for the coffee machine which was quite slow - turned out they were not guests - but the breakfast room staff!. When they finally had their coffee they went straigth out onto the open terrasse for a cigarette (very small outdoor terrase and the staff now occupied 1/3 of it) and started chatting quite loudly - so terrasse is just as much for the staff - not the guests only. And really - if staff of any kind of establishment wants to have a loud discussion, do so away from the guests!! Breakfast was very poor - quite frankly pathetic! - some dry toast bread, a little bit of cheese and some slices of what looked like ham/salami - nothing warm like e.g. eggs (of course the staff were busy out on the terrasse smoking and having a loud conversation). Definately not worth any money at all - instead head out for one of the many cafes very close by. The lobby has what looks like a bar, but all they sell is coffee. Big surprise to me when late afternoon after a long walk i came back, asked for a cold beer and was told they didnt have any!! You can have some wine from the minibar, but you cant have a beer anywhere. The day of departure i waited a little in the lobby for my taxi to the airport. Need to use a bathroom?? Too bad - just like the lift, out of order. This would be fixed ”in a day or 2” so clearly not a priority for this place. Wifi, although it did work in the room - no luck in the lobby - could not connect at all. The guy in the lobby was nice enough but most of the time you will find him outside, having a smoke. Marriott upper-scale properties, such as their Autograph Collection &/or Tribute Portfolio brands, continue to miss the mark. Weak management seems to plague many of these properties & consistent delivery of Marriott's Bonvoy Program only exists in the minds of HQ Executives. The experience of Bonvoy Members is something quite different in reality, since members NEVER know what to expect until they check in. Just finished 12 nights in 6 different European Marriott brands in 3 countries & only 1 even bothered to acknowledge our lifetime elite membership status. Otherwise, we received the same treatment as a guest staying at a Marriott property for the 1st time. The Marmorosch is indeed a beautiful property -- or at least the exterior & lobby area are. The rooms themselves are more more like Fairfield Inn properties in the US. Basic to the extreme & poor housekeeping was evident throughout the property. Trash that littered the floor on arrival was still there 3 days later, as were the blood droplets on the bathroom floor, & one has to question what type of housekeeping would leave a bed in the condition of the one in the attached photos? Only 1 side of the huge hand-pull drapes worked & could be opened, so we called to ask that someone be sent to fix the other side. A pleasant gentleman promptly appeared to tell us that they could not fix the drapes because a separate company had to be scheduled to do the repair. We subsequently learned from an honest employee that the non-functioning drapes issue has plagued the property since opening & is well known to owner/management. The property was previously a bank so there is a bar in the lower level Vault area, which one would incorrectly assume to be a beautiful & sophisticated location for cocktails. Unfortunately, as you descend the stairs to the lower level the loud & pulsating disco music immediately lets you know that your expectations are incorrect. We looked in the door & decided to not even bother entering & returned to the beautiful Lobby for drinks, but left after 15 minutes when no one arrived at the bar to offer service, & others who were waiting when we arrived were still unserved when we departed. Breakfast was a manic mess since the room where it is served is not capable of meeting guest needs if the hotel is more than 75% occupied. Many of the food items that should be hot are cold & unappetizing. Never saw a breakfast menu on a table in the first 2 days of our stay, & only after asking about cooked-to-order items that were being served around us on the 3rd day, were we given a menu with several options that are, in fact, available for breakfast. Check-in was the biggest fiasco we have ever encountered at ANY Marriott property. A full 50 minutes to check-in with only 2 employees manning the 4-5 positions & the Bonvoy Member sign on the front desk was completely meaningless. What a pleasant stay we had! Upon arrival, Costin, who checked us in promptly, made us feel comfortable and very welcomed. He understands our special need for a fragrance-free room due to our sensitivity to scents/chemicals. We got one on the higher floor, clean, spacious and nicely-decorated and has a beautiful city view! It had everything we need. Will not hesitate to book this hotel again.

The staff was very polite and very friendly. The gym was not as expected. It has very little equipment and nearly all cardio machines were out of order.

When I arrived at Hotel Tranzzit there was absolutely nobody manning the desk. Granted, it was around 11pm, but the website lists no set check-in time limit (just that it begins at 2pm). I waited around 45 mins for someone to show up, and the person who did arrive was not very friendly or communicative. After some back and forth I was told that they had no record of my booking — however I had just received a phone call from them the day before (no message left) so they definitely had my information. The night receptionist showed me the personal information of everyone else staying there to ask if I was staying with those guests, which seemed like a breach of privacy. He asked if I had paid yet, and I said no, but he gave me the keys and let me into the room without paying. Very strange check-in experience. Overall, the room was not bad. Unfortunately I was in the room directly beside reception and you can hear absolutely everything, so I was awoken every day by the phone ringing or people chatting. The daytime receptionists were very friendly although did not speak English, and I made sure to pay for my stay in the morning. My room had one large bed, a closet, a bathroom, a window to an outdoor seating area, and a television — although I never tried the TV as you could hear everything from the lobby and vice versa. No hot water on the first day but the second day was fine. Soap and shower gel is included in the bathroom. No fridge or kettle in the room but there is a kitchen. Breakfast is not included but one coffee per day is allowed if you ask the reception to prepare it. Wi-fi is uncharacteristically spotty for Romania and would connect and disconnect every minute or so. The great thing about this place is not only price but location. You are only around 8 mins from Gara de Nord and there is a laundromat on the way as well. Lots of Mega Image grocery stores nearby and even a nice park. Metro, etc. are all located conveniently. It's very easy to walk to the Old City and the area with the Atheneum. Overall, I didn't hate my stay here. It was a bit awkward and strange but the daytime receptionists were very sweet and feigned being impressed with my almost-non-existent Romanian, hahaha. I would stay here again for one or two nights if I was travelling by train.

Hotel location is great. Staff is very helpful. Room condition is great. Just the pillows are not very comfortable. Overall a good stay

Hotel My Continental Gara De Nord provided a solid base for our four days of exploring Bucharest. A very convenient location, regarding the metro and railway station; and within a walkable distance (around 20 min) to the centre. The hotel was clean and safe; our room offered everything we needed and general ambience was pleasant. What deserves a special mention, is the restaurant staff at breakfast times (good-humoured and very professional) as well as breakfast on offer – plentiful, fresh and tasty. Also, a nice vibe there in the evenings with an attentive and lovely gentleman at the bar. Thank you for a positive experience, looking forward to coming back …

This hotel is aesthetically beautiful, the rooms are decorated to a high standard with nothing to fault. Staff were helpful. Our only let down would be location is out of city centre a good 45 minute walk, or rely on Uber and the continental breakfast was a little underwhelming and lacked choice and variety. Coffee not served at breakfast is an extra charge which I’ve never found elsewhere during travels especially when there is no drink making facilities in the room. Beautiful hotel, location more suited for business not a city break and things like breakfast and drink making aren’t great. On a positive note the neighbours dog who visits the front door is lovely and friendly.
