Movich Hotel Rooftop: The Movich Hotel Rooftop took me completely by surprise. It is located atop Hotel Movich Cartagena De Indias, a stunning luxury accommodation belonging to the exclusive and highly notable “Small Luxury Hotels of the World.” I had read many reviews and blogs prior to visiting that said this rooftop is “overrated” and “overcrowded.” I am soooo glad that I ignored those opinions, because Movich Hotel Rooftop is absolutely stunning, and provided me with the best sunset I’ve ever seen in my life. Movich Hotel Rooftop is an excellent vibe, with a nice floorplan layout and enjoyable upbeat tropical music. The food and drinks are delicious. I ordered a ceviche and sipped on a lychee martini and another pretty fruity cocktail while we waited for the sun to set. The sunset view from the Movich Hotel Rooftop is simply mind blowing. The way the sun shines over the water, reflects off the tall new-city skyscrapers in the background, accompanied by the old architecture of the walled-city in the foreground, and lights up the sky in bright-warm colors is a core memory that is forever painted in my mind. I recommend getting to this Cartagena rooftop early, at opening or a little after, as the tables fill up close to sunset. Movich Hotel Rooftop is the perfect place for taking in the most dreamy Cartagena sunsets.

This is a stunning property in the heart of the old town. The rooms are nice and the staff is super friendly. One factor you may want to know and we learnt the hard way is that language is a major issue in Colombia. No one really speaks English and google translate was our best friend. Even in a top notch hotel like Sofitel this may be an issue. Just something to be aware of which came as a surprise to us. Just a FYI The breakfast was fantastic. The fruit choices are exotic and amazing I do want to put in a shout ouut to Carlos Jesús, Jaison , Jose and Jorge who were our servers in our 4 wonderful days at the hotel. I would definitely come back here!!

The good: excellent location in the Plaza de las Coches and an easy walk to everything you could possibly want to see or do in Cartagena. I was there for 5 days and did not take an Uber or taxi a single time - location is just minutes away from dozens of highly rated restaurants and shops, and an eight minute walk from the up and coming Getsemani neighborhood, which was one of my favorite spots for the local art scene. Something to consider: while the location is central to everything, the plaza immediately in front of the hotel is ”THE” spot for everything. It's a gathering place for party-goers and a natural outflow for people exiting the local clubs and restaurants who still want to socialize. This means that it can be VERY loud at night and well into the early morning. These parties last until almost 5:00 AM. The front desk staff does have earplugs available for those who are bothered by the noise. I wasn't - my room had a balcony that looked over the square and it was fantastic people-watching - this was even better than being on a balcony on Bourbon Street. But the noise level may not be for everyone - if you are traveling with older folks or small children you may want to look for something a little bit further from the center of all the action in Cartagena. The best: the staff at NH were SUPERB and went all out to cater to the needs of their guests - I got to know the staff well, and the manager is a young lady named Geraldine who is very engaged and attentive - she wrote down several restaurant and museum recommendations for me when I asked her about things to do - trust me, the staff will treat you like family here.

FANTASTIC!!!!!! This is a gorgeous New Boutique Hotel located in the walled city of Cartagena (safe neighborhood) & close to a ton of attractions. Beautiful rooms, large TV, Lovely pool and lounging areas. The food and alcohol (try the Mohito's) was outstanding. They paid attention to the small details which really add to the ambience eg/ lovely glass jars in the bathroom with cotton balls/q-tips, Containers of Bon Bon's & Nuts etc, fully stocked refrigerated drinks. The decor is beautiful and from our understanding they are renovating and adding a rooftop patio which will be even more spectacular. Even though we loved everything about this hotel our favorite thing was the incredible staff. Alex, Juan Pablo, Javier & Gaer were outstanding, we came in as strangers and left as friends. Thank you for the beautiful experience and we hope to visit again. We would highly recommend this delightful property and look forward to coming back ourselves!

We stayed for over 3 weeks and were returning guests. They provided us with a comfortable room with a great view. Breakfast was simple but tasty. There was a lot of construction including the road the hotel access is on and the beach is all torn up at present. Walking south on the beach for a half hour is easy and walking a half hour into the old city is easy. Many great restaurants all around the hotel too. The security at the front door were wonderful, and always so welcoming and friendly. The restaurant food was inconsistent but some of the servers were incredible. We ate there frequently.

Location wise you cannot beat this hostel, so convenient! You have the city wall facing the ocean, Getsémani and all other landmarks well within 10 minutes walking. Also the private room, so nice! Roomy, airconditioned, great bathroom. Also a balcony overlooking the busy streets, all great! And then there is the rooftop. Very nicely done, really cool place to hang out and cool off your hot day. Didn't try the pool but it looked nice too. But then... Casa Movida being a hostel, we were looking for a common area to meet other travelers as well. That is non-existent here. The place doesn't invite you to chill and connect with others. The rooftop gets close to such a place, but was often empty. Maybe more importantly: The staff. Nobody seems to have fun in what they're doing there. Find another job if you don't like working in a hostel. They prefer to text/play games on their phone rather then helping paying guests. Knowing the rooftop bar is cool. Unfortunately you cannot pay for your drink(s) there. Meaning even as a guest sleeping on the top floor, you need to take all the steps down to pay for a beer before going to bed. You can't put a tab on your room. Which is very inconvenient.

A nice colonial house in the very centre of the walled city, at walking distance from everything (pier, Getsemani and of course all the sights within the walls). The room was nicely furnished but unluckily very dark as the single window faces the staircase; I think it’s a common situation as the house is built around a central patio and very few rooms are on the street side but it’s definitely a minus to be in a luminous city like Cartagena and to need artificial light all day. The bathroom is small but functional with hair dryer and some basic toiletries. No complimentary water, but that seems common in Colombia unlike most countries with non drinkable water. There is a small swimming pool in the patio but didn’t look appealing at all. Very little common space and not air conditioned, the only option to staying outside is the dark room. There is no lift for people, only for luggage, which makes the hotel unsuitable for who has some motility problem. Breakfast has to be ordered the day before and there is some choice: juice, fruit, eggs, bread. The service is good but it’s hard to understand why you should award it with an extra 6% tip (optional, but how do you say no?) when you pay at check out. Wifi is excellent.

Everyone was so friendly, and helpful and I had a wonderful stay 🌟 I travelled from the UK and stayed here whilst at a work conference and then explored the city for a couple of days. The hotel was in the perfect location and I would definitely come again.
