This was an interesting place. The value was great for the location and the quality of the room. They took some kind of additional fee off the deposit, but in exchange you get two free drinks during happy hour? A very interesting concept!

I had high hopes for this hotel because of the location and a few of the ratings I read before booking...but our experience was not at all what I expected. First, the hotel doesn't have thermostats in each room. Our room was hot and stuffy when we arrived. There was a wall fan (like many hotels have) in there and it was turned on but did absolutely nothing to change the feel in the room. I called the front desk and they confirmed that the hotel is all on one heating/cooling system with no thermostats in the rooms. They suggested we open the window(s). We did this, but even on the 11th floor, the amount of noise we could hear from outside was ridiculous. We left the windows open while we went out to explore the city and the room felt a little better when we returned, but it was not comfortable for us to sleep because of noise, temperature, and the bed. Speaking of the bed...this brings me to the 2nd issue we had with our room. I would liken the comfort level of the bed to throwing a blanket on the floor and sleeping there. The mattress and pillows were horrible. To anyone reading this - if you don't like a firm bed, look for another hotel! Now, all was not lost on the issues we had. My family and I arrived around 330AM on a Friday night/Saturday morning. Service: 4/5 The Night staff was awesome, hospitality was IMPECCABLE! From the receptionist , bellhop helper, security, you name it! I wish I could remember their names but the receptionist was a young African American male about early-mid 20s! The morning crew and afternoon crew need some pointers from the night shift staff because they need some work. Rooms: 3/5 Our room had 2 full size beds, they were nice and spacious for all 4 of us (3 adults & 1 child). No microwave was an inconvenience but it wasn’t too big of a deal since our short was stay. Overall I would rate our stay a 4/5 (Would have been 3.5/5 had it not been for the service we experienced when checking in.

This is probably one of the best hostels I've stayed at in the U.S. I've stayed at this hostel twice now. The first time was in 2015 and the second time this past month for Market Days. Location: The hostel is centrally located in Downtown Chicago/the Loop. It's easily accessible to get to and from O'Hare Airport via the Blue Line which runs 24 hours. The closest CTA station is Jackson Station which also has connections to many other CTA lines. The hostel is also located within walking distance to many other tourist hotspots like Millennium Park, Broadway shows, Lou Malnati's Pizza (10 minutes), etc. There's also a CVS Pharmacy at the corner of the street that sells liquor and other essentials. On the weekday, the area is bustling with downtown workers, but on the weekends, it's like a ghost town. Most restaurants and stores close by 8/9pm. The only place to eat at if you have a late night is Taco Bell which closes at 2am. Another downside is that there are a lot of homeless people that have set up camp in front and around the hostel, so some people may feel unsafe walking around. Security: The property is very secure. There are multiple entry points to get into the hostel with a key card. There's another entry point to get access to the elevator banks that lead to the rooms as well as required card access to go upstairs and into the rooms. There's also a 24-hour front desk. This was a saving grace for me because my flight from New York was delayed that I ended up arriving at 3:30am. Keep in mind, if you plan to arrive after 3am, you should notify/call the front desk and let them know otherwise they'll mark you as a no-show and cancel your reservation. They also have storage lockers/a luggage room for a fee. Facilities/Amenities: My original reservation was for a 4-bed male dormitory, but there was someone sleeping in my assigned bunk. When you arrive, there is a fitted sheet, pillow sheets, a bath towel, and a face towel (no comforter). You are expected to make your bed. Since I arrived so late and my roommates were already asleep, the overnight staff (DJ) was nice enough to put me in an 8-bed dormitory that was unoccupied, so that I didn't wake up anyone. Both rooms were very spacious/high ceilings/massive windows with a lot of space to store luggage and walk around. All the rooms have lockers (bring your own lock or buy one at the front desk). In the 4-bed dorm, there is a common area with a kitchen/bathroom that connects with 2 suites. The 8-bed room is setup where the toilet, shower, and sink are all in separate areas instead of all in one room. The shower area has dispensers for body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. There are also common showers and toilets on every floor. The downside of the dormitory is that you can't control the temperature of the room. Summers in Chicago are hot and humid and the room was kept in the 60s, which I loved. But, my roommates thought it was too cold for them. The WiFi access is very stable and fast. Th

If you are claustrophobic, this may not be the hotel for you. It is cute and clean, the staff was all amiable, and it is in a stellar location. However, this is a 100+-year-old building, and charming as it may be, the age of the building shows. The two elevators are tiny. We were in a single queen room on the 16th floor. The hallways to our room were super narrow, and the room was quite possibly the tiniest hotel room I have ever stayed in. The bathroom is tight with no extra space to unpack toiletries so I was thankful to have a hanging organizer with me. The room was clean and adequate, bed was comfortable enough for one night, and breakfast the next morning was the usual HI Express fare, which is always a pleasure. We chose this hotel for the location.

Nice Hotel on a good location, Walkable distance to Navy Pier, River side walk, Michigan Avenue, Chicago 360 and many other places. There are many places nearby for Lunch, dinner. Chipotle is located in hotel building. Breakfast was included and was okay. Not many options for vegetarians. Overall it was good stay.

It's a good hotel for the price. Location is excellent with Museum Campus Metra station right in front and bus stations nearby. You can also walk to downtown. There are Walgreens stores and a Target store nearby so you can buy anything you might need. It was cold in winter but the heating was good. Radiator had some noise but ear plugs can easily solve the issue. Definitely a budget option. I was happy with it because it was a business trip.
