The night manager is very good and helpful, during we reach there at night after 9pm, helping us to get everything done

Excellent location to explore Christchurch attractions. Very clean and well appointed room for an excellent price (I was wondering what It may be getting into). The room quality was a 3+ star for US standards. The only negative is the lack of parking (only offstreet parking or may have to drive a block away for parking). The clean room, friendly staff and excellent location and the overall niceness of Christchurch and it's people in general made us quickly get over the initial stress of trying to find a place to park. DO NOT STAY HERE!! upon our short 4 hour stay and this premises, we were verbally abused threatened, our privacy was violated as our bags had all be opened and rummaged through, along with the inhuman living facilities. We arrived at the southern comfort motel on the 03/02/2024, we had left our bags with the staff at reception as we had arrived before our check in time, when we returned to check in our luggage was returned open, we decided this may have just be an accident and decided to let it go, we got to our room which was filthy, extremely outdated and falsely advertised, we were all a bit disappointed, there was only one roll of half used toilet paper, no hand soap, the phone in the room was broken along with the tv which had no remote and buttons on the side of the tv were all broken, we decided to query this with the management staff as to whether we could change rooms, for raising this legitimate complaint we in turn we received verbally absusive language by staff, we were told to f**k off, stay somewhere else to which we were shocked and expressed we shouldn’t be spoken to like that, the manager then proceed to say we were smoking in the room and he had cctv inside the room, none of us are smokers and cctv footage inside the room is an invasion of privacy, when asked to produce proof of this so called footage the owner declined to show this. We asked the manager to calm down to which he threatened to fight us and claim we are not women women are gods and we are dirt. We felt so uncomfortable and shocked that we decided to request and refund to stay elsewhere to which to management declined and told us he was going to trespass us, at no point did we partake in any aggressive behaviour with the staff so we were incredibly shocked. Only one telling the manager police have been called did he produce a partial refund. Please do not support such a disgusting business, if you do decide to stay here I suggest not making any legitimate complaints. Lesson has now been learnt to read all reviews prior to staying as it appears similar behaviour has happened to many other customers.

Very good place to stay, nice and quiet with friendly staff. They went out and bought some Weetbix for me, as I could not eat nut based cereals. Gone the extra, nice grounds and the guys were great hosts. Safe location as well. Some features a bit dated though, no USB points in the building and the bed was wire sprung and quite uncomfortable. But these are minor affluenza based complaints. Room size was really generous and private, sunny and nice couches and sitting area. The price was attractive too and nice grounds, a lot of friendly felines drop by too. Great for solo travellers, couples and tourists. However if you have tech savvy types, probably not the best place.

We rented the two bedroom apartment on the first floor for 160nz$ per night which is great price for the big rooms. Kitchen has a cooker, oven and microwave and fridge which were all in good working order. One room is a double bed with heaters on the bed and the other room had twin beds also with heat. There was an extra bed in the lounge area and a newish couch. Table and 4 chairs which need an upgrade . Curtains we new and nice. Parking was fine . They not so great things are the water pressure. Some days there were hardly any pressure. Cleaning could be better - and some days there were no house keeping which does not bother me too much but might be important for some. That said the request for clean towels etc were met promptly but very nice and accommodating owners. Location was great.

We had the 2brm unit opposite the office. Whilst close to the road it was super quiet (double glazed) and very peaceful. The motel is an older one but beds and furnishings are well maintained and very comfortable. Owners very help me nice people. Very convenient location at the end of Hayley park and near restaurants and the shopping centre. Very well priced and we'd happily stay again.

The good: location, comfort. The not-so-good: The room is a little dated and some of the kitchenware had not been washed well. The great: service and staff. They’re really friendly snd helpful!

I had a wonderful one night stay at this establishment. The check-in was quick although the owner doesn't speak much English. Small parking lot in the back that can fit 3 cars and a few street spots in the front. The room also included a couch and a 2-person dining table. Everything was clean and cozy. There was a full kitchen with a stovetop, oven, water boiler, mini fridge with ice compartment, cooking utensils, cutlery, bowls, cutting board, bowls/plates, and salt and pepper. The kitchen and bathroom have doors so it limits the kitchen smells into the bedroom. TV has several channels. Shower had a great pressure and plenty hot water, hair dryer included. 2 air heaters available in room. There was provided bathroom toiletries. I was given 2 wifi code vouchers for 1GB each, speed was okay but not great. I was on the top floor; walls are thin facing the outside but overall noise was quiet. You’ll maybe hear other guests moving in and out of building. I would have been happy and comfortable with a long stay here; would recommend.
