Booked for afternoon tea as a family gift. The hotel is literally in the centre of Derby, only 100 yards from Derby Cathedral. A beautiful cathedral and well worth a visit. The hotel is a historic building re-purposed and recently re-modeled with a glorious marble interior and oak panelled dining room. There is plenty of parking in the vicinity, although it is almost all pay and display. There is very limited parking belonging to the hotel. At the time of our visit, on a Sunday, they were serving a lunch carvery as well as our afternoon tea in a sparsley occupied restaurant; to be fair though, this was a cold and damp February afternoon. Service was pleasant and attentive. The sandwiches seemed freshly prepared and tasty, along with scones, jam and clotted cream, sponge cakes and a biscuit selection. Accompanied, of course by tea or coffee and although we never asked for any, I suspect any variation of beverage could be available. I could recommend the hotel from my observations and the pricing of the meals we saw and enjoyed seemed very reasonable.
