Unusually for me I am starting this review while I am actually still in the hotel! And the best that can be said is that, it is what it is, it is acceptable, but only because it was a late availability break for £400 if I had paid well over the £1000 peak season rate I would be furious. The hotel is billed by TUI as authentic Tunisian but the feel is of a Disney Epcot take on what Tunisia might be like and is overall a very contrived atmosphere. The rooms are a little tired as is the rest of the hotel, I actually paid for a room upgrade to a superior room, and ended up in a scruffy room at the back overlooking a main road, the traffic noise was very intrusive made worse by the locals racing high powered motorcycles up and down until the early hours. The acoustics in the public areas are such that it amplifies the noise to a high level making conversation in the lobby bar almost impossible and finding a quiet corner for a quiet drink and a chat all but impossible. I ended up using the American bar which was quiet and comfortable with a nice atmosphere but not part of the all inclusive package so I paid for the privilege . It turned out that the main reason for the noise was that a local youth football tournament was being held, over 400 contestants and their family's checked out on Sunday afternoon and it is now much quieter and more civilised. The food was OK at best, limited choice so far, the options at every meal is very limited unless you like Tunisian food ( I don't) mostly chicken, stewed beef, liver or tuna. Overall the hotel is to be fair a reasonable 2* and for what it is, it's probably acceptable. The issues start with TUI's description Classification and the fact that their name is over the door. Much more is rightly expected from the brand than this hotel. It fails on almost every level. Catering is poor, housekeeping is poor, general upkeep and maintenance is poor, location ( a 10 minute walk from the beach) is not great. Although to be fair they do mention this. From loose tiles on the floor to mould in the bathroom and strands of wire sticking out of the sun parasol at eye level, the maintenance appears to be none existent To be honest for the price it's OK but I paid a very budget price for a very budget last minute holiday if it's cheap and you are prepared to "get what you pay for" then it's fine otherwise spend a a little more and avoid this one
