The only complaint was about noise. I can hear people talk next door. Clear enough, but only if I understand their languages. I requested a quiet room and yes I we were arranged to nearly the last room of the floor, but the room isn't soundproof. It was very annoying because people were up late. Excellent location: last bus stop before going on the bridge to Venice Island, so it's always crowded going out and returning. Something to consider if you need to sit or travel with kids or elderly. Friendly staff: checking in was smooth. Cleanliness: acceptable. Towels have some dirts on. The shared kitchen is small but packed with people. We just went to check it out, but it stinked. Overall I think it was great. If your budget is limited, this is the best option.

Very close to Mestre train station. I really liked everything at the hostel. Breakfast was quite good, and the garden area was very enjoyable in the evenings. I appreciated the sink and mirror in the room. The only minor issue was with the drain in the shower. The only downside was that during the 4-minute walk from the train station and main road to the hostel, some of the people on the street seemed a bit unsafe and unreliable. However, there were no actual problems. I’m looking forward to staying here again!

I've stayed here for a couple of times, Nice stay in this hostel, there are helpful staff members, very useful map provided, lovely common sitting area on the ground floor. Easy to reach from San Macro stop. There are some shops around. Just one thing, it could be better to add blinds/curtains on each bed, thanks

This is a beautiful hostel with great amenities and lovely location. It is perfect for travelling to Murano and Burano and a nice respite from the busy centre during tourist season while still feeling very authentically venetian. HOWEVER, my stay was negatively impacted by the fact that I had to share a locked twin room with a male stranger who proceeded to act completely inappropriately and made me feel very unsafe. I booked a six bed mixed dorm because there were no female only dorms left, (I did include a note in my booking stating that if at all possible I would prefer this, but understood that there was no guarantee.) Upon arrival, I discovered that a six bed dorm is not in fact a six bed dorm, but an apartment with three separate lockable rooms with twin beds in each, the bathroom is then shared between 6 (with showers that are not lockable or segregated by gender). I was immediately nervous at the prospect that I may need to share this bedroom which is lockable from the inside with an unknown male; all I could do was hope for the best. Upon arriving back alone from dinner that evening, I found that it was indeed inhabited by a male who proceeded to lock the door before bed, talk to me non-stop and then wait until I had turned out the lights to proposition me. This is something which I assume would have been less likely in a room with other people present. I also would have felt more secure that he would attempt to act on his desires in a shared room with others and perhaps somebody would have intervened and supported me in dealing with this inappropriate behaviour. Instead, I lay awake all night scared that he may engage in something non-consensual if I were to fall asleep. While I know the actions of the guest were not the responsibility of Combo, if I knew when I booked that the sleeping set-up was like this, I simply would not have booked. Many people, perhaps not solo female travellers, may have been very happy not to have to share with six but instead to have a twin room, but in this scenario, I most certainly wasn't and my fears of inappropriate male behaviour ended up being realised. I would return to Combo Venezia, but never as a solo female booked into a mixed dorm. I hope the proprietors can learn something from this review.
