RRowell SantiagoI recently stayed at Hotel Cargo Shinsaibashi during my trip to Osaka, and I was pleasantly surprised by the comfort and quality packed into this compact, capsule-style accommodation.
One of the biggest highlights of my stay was the toilet and bathroom area — exceptionally clean, modern, and cozy. Despite being a shared facility, everything was spotless and well-maintained at all times. The design was sleek, and the space felt more like a boutique hotel than a budget capsule. The toilets are equipped with Japan’s signature high-tech bidet functions, and the overall cleanliness really exceeded my expectations. Even the subtle lighting and warm wood tones added to the relaxing feel every time I used the bathroom.
The rest of the hotel was equally impressive. The capsules were comfortable, quiet, and felt more private than I expected. The lounge area was a nice place to relax or do a bit of planning for the day. Plus, the location is perfect — just a short walk from Shinsaibashi shopping street and a quick train ride to most Osaka hotspots.
If you’re looking for a well-designed, clean, and cozy place to stay in Osaka, I highly recommend Hotel Cargo Shinsaibashi. Especially if you value hygiene and comfort in shared facilities, this hotel delivers above and beyond.

My first time staying in a capsule hotel, and honestly, I was more impressed than I expected!
📍 Location: Amazing! It’s very close to Dotonbori—just a few minutes’ walk to food, shopping, and nightlife. Also near train stations, so getting around is super convenient.
🛏 Capsule Room: I thought it would be very small, but it’s actually more spacious than expected. I could stretch out comfortably. There’s decent privacy with a curtain, plus a power outlet and personal light.
🧼 Cleanliness: Highly rated! The bathrooms and showers are very clean. Amenities are provided, including towels and a hair dryer.
👩💼 Staff: Friendly, helpful, and able to communicate in English, which makes everything much easier.
👍 Pros:
- Great value for money, perfect for budget travelers
- Excellent central location
- Secure system with lockers for your belongings
⚠️ Cons:
- If you get an upper capsule, climbing up and down can be a bit inconvenient (though it’s slightly cheaper than the lower one)
- Some noise is unavoidable since it’s a shared space
- It can feel a bit warm or stuffy at times
💬 Overall: Perfect for solo travelers or anyone who wants to try the capsule hotel experience in Japan. If you don’t mind limited personal space, it’s definitely worth it!

JJellybeanYuFirst Cabin Midosuji Namba offers a great concept for solo female travelers, featuring spacious single ”cabins” that are a wonderful upgrade from traditional capsule hotels. The dedicated female-only section feels highly secure, and the modern magnetic electronic doors provide excellent peace of mind. Additionally, the hotel's location directly above the Namba metro station makes exploring Osaka incredibly convenient. A nice bonus was the variety of free amenities provided, such as comfortable nightwear, fresh towels, and slippers.
However, the property has a few significant drawbacks when it comes to comfort and facilities. While things like clothing and towels are provided, there are no free individual toiletries available for your room, so you will need to bring your own. Furthermore, because the cabins use thin walls and sliding doors rather than solid, sealed entries, there is zero soundproofing. I could clearly hear my neighbors talking, coughing, and rustling around throughout the night. The shared facilities are also far too limited for the number of guests on the floor, leaving everyone to share just two independent showers and a severe shortage of toilets.
Ultimately, this is a highly secure and well-located spot for budget-conscious solo travelers. Just make sure to bring your own personal toiletries, pack a pair of high-quality earplugs, and be prepared to wait for the bathroom during peak morning and evening hours.

DDarinDarwishThis was not my first hostel experience, and I have to say, I was a bit disappointed.
Let’s start with the positive aspects first:
The location was absolutely perfect — I don’t think you could find a better place to stay in Namba. Everything was close by, and getting around was very easy.
Also, the staff were extremely, extremely friendly, and we received fresh towels every day, which I really appreciated.
Now, onto the things that bothered me:
First, the cleanliness: It wasn’t really clean. In the showers, there was always a lot of hair and dirt in the gaps where you enter and exit, which was quite unpleasant.
During my stay, someone vomited in the public sink area, and it was not cleaned up overnight — it was still there even at 10 a.m. the next morning. Because of that, the house smelled strongly of vomit for a while.
That night, and in general, there was often an unpleasant smell in the kitchen area as well.
Without wanting to discriminate, I noticed that many older people were staying at the hostel (since apparently there was no age restriction). Some of them would loudly clear their throats and spit phlegm into the sinks, even early in the morning, which was quite disturbing and unhygienic.
Another issue was the temperature: The room was extremely hot at night, and since so many people were sleeping in one room, the air became very stuffy. Even inside your capsule, it was uncomfortably warm.
One last point: On the day of arrival, the address on Trip.com was wrong, which made it very hard to find the hostel. It took me almost an hour and a half to find it, especially because it was very hidden with no clear signage outside.
I really hope that in the future, there will also be an age limit for guests.

AAndrei SmirnovEverything is fine exept the thinnest and hardest pillow I've ever seen in my life. A bit old amenities add a touch of true charm to here. They speak a bit English.
The only unpleasant point was my communcation about the locker key I couldn't find in the morning. They immediately asked me to pay 7.000 yen as for lost item, not even suggesting to wait for it to be found by staff or guests, as I hadn't left the premises. Of course, the key was found by someone very soon.

PPengguna Tetamu万博に行くために会場から近いこちらを選びました。
大阪港駅からも近く、荷物子連れ（６歳）でも無理なくなく歩けました。無人の宿泊施設の利用は初めてだったので入館、チェックイン、入室がうまく出来るかとても不安でしたが、アナログな私でもスムーズに出来たので安心しました。入力に必要なパスキーやQRコードはスマホが調子が悪くなってもいいようにプリントアウトして持って行っていたのであたふたせずに済みました。
館内は部屋も含めて、全体的にはとても清潔に保たれています。ユニットバスや洗面台の排水溝など細かいところを気にしなければ特に問題ありませんでした。ランドリールームには無料で使える洗濯機と乾燥機（しかも洗剤も用意してくれています！）が数台ずつあるので洗濯できるのがとても嬉しかったです。そして何よりコスパがよろしい！万博に行きやすくぐっすり眠れてこの価格！とても助かりました。ちなみに万博西ゲートからホテルまでタクシーで3000円台でした。天保山からも近いので機会があればまた利用したいなと思います。
あと！近くの韓国料理屋さんがとてもおいしかったです！

PPengguna TetamuThe location is good. It's close to the subway station, and there are also good Japanese-style restaurants nearby. The rates are cheap, so I plan to stay here again. However, the facilities are old, and there was only one usable toilet on my floor. After someone used it, I had to go downstairs to use a decent toilet. The women's public bath is only available from 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Is this for safety reasons? I think it's a bit too late for some people.
