What a pleasant surprise. This small boutique hotel checked all of our boxes. Comfortable room, nice breakfast, helpful staff and to top it all off the owner spoke very good English. It is located not too deep into the alleys of the ancient town, so it is easy to walk out to the main road. The ambiance was perfect with the quiet courtyard and the breakfast/tea house providing a nice respite from the crowds and busyness of the ancient town. We would definitely book again if we were to be in Lijiang.

This is a beautiful and peaceful little accommodation. It’s close to the main attractions while being tucked away in a more quiet and private area of the town. It’s not far from the bus station, which is convenient. It’s clean, has all the facilities you would want, and it’s very safe. It’s so beautifully decorated, so picturesque! But what makes it most special is the hosts; I was welcomed so warmly with a cup of tea, and though they don’t speak English, they do the MOST they could to make sure you have everything necessary for a comfortable and happy stay in Lijiang. Title: A perfect blend of tradition and comfort – wish we could have stayed longer! I only had one night at Grand Joli Demeure · Du Bo Lin | Er·Schr Schrödinger Art Hotel (Big Waterwheel Branch), but it was absolutely memorable. The staff reached out right after I booked, which made me feel well taken care of from the start. The hotel itself is a beautiful example of traditional Naxi architecture — the ”three courts and one screen wall” style — and feels incredibly cozy. At the same time, the room features a modern, clean, and textured interior that offers the best of both worlds. What truly made our stay special was the team. Every single staff member was warm, attentive, and thoughtful — they even arranged our transfers. A special shout-out to Qianxi, who was always ready to help, answered all our questions patiently, and gave great recommendations on local attractions and food. We truly felt at home. Loved the little touches: afternoon tea, a sweet soup in the evening, and the chance to make my own sachet by hand. They also offer a tea-cake making experience in the old town, though sadly we didn't have enough time to join. Before we left, they thoughtfully gifted us a lovely little farewell present — such a sweet and heartwarming gesture. Highly recommended for anyone looking for charm, warmth, and thoughtful hospitality. Next time, I’ll definitely stay longer!wa

Dari saat kami tiba, kami berasa dialu-alukan—malah mereka menyediakan pemindahan lapangan terbang dan stesen kereta api percuma, yang sangat melegakan. Penyambut tetamu yang cantik sentiasa bertanya pukul berapa kami lebih suka sarapan, memastikan semuanya sesuai dengan jadual kami. Kami juga suka mempunyai akses ke stesen teh di tingkat bawah, di mana kami boleh menikmati majlis minum teh yang betul pada bila-bila masa. Dan selepas perjalanan yang panjang, buah-buahan selamat datang adalah sentuhan yang bernas! “顧客就是上帝”別人都是説説，你們居然用行動證明了一切！ 還沒到店，前台小哥哥就到古城門口接我們，全程不用動手，行李🧳都幫我們搬好，送到房間！真的是一步到位！ 剛剛進門，小姐姐就端過來茶水和甜點🍮，很貼心！ 主理人“鐵牛”就在門口迎接我們，超級熱情！他先給我們介紹了整體位置，然後帶我們一起參觀。最貼心的是，他居然還提前把我們預訂房間的空調給打開了！真的nice！ 在房間裏休息了一會，小姐姐給我們送了水果，還有一張手寫的卡片！手寫的完全出乎了我的意料，就跟好長時間沒見的朋友一樣！ 還有下午茶！早餐，晚上的特調雞尾酒🍹！都是讓我們自己選擇。 我覺得他們真的用行動來證明了“顧客就是上帝”，很用心在做 他們真的替我們想的很周全，我們沒想到了他們都會替我們考慮到！ 真的沒有誇張的表現！！！

Location & Vibe: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely loved this hotel! The location is fantastic: just a 10-minute walk to Lijiang Ancient Town and 3 minutes to Black Dragon Pool. The hotel offers incredible hospitality and a personal touch. Highlights: Exceptional Food & Service: The afternoon tea and good night soup are delicious and change daily. The staff are attentive, even carrying luggage to the 3rd floor. Personalized Stay: You're invited to a WeChat group for announcements on optional activities and enquiries. Great Amenities: Enjoyed the free room upgrade, complimentary oxygen supply (available upon request), and the high-quality shower gel and shampoo in the clean, well-equipped room. Overall, I highly recommend it—thank you for your wonderful hospitality!

房間可以説是毫無瑕疵，不知道別人怎麼覺得，反正我是覺得這家客棧，在我的心裏絕對是第一名！這個客棧位置超級好，我朋友來過麗江，但是他定的不是這家，他定的客棧七拐八彎的，出來旅遊行李箱肯定很沉，拖的滿身是汗，但是這裏就不會，離馬路挺近的走了沒多長時間，就到達了。我之前還有一種顧慮，這個客棧離馬路這麼近，會不會位置很偏，不好走到古城景點，答案是絕對不會！     總結幾點：拖行李方便，離景點近，不會吵，而且住的還很舒服！ 希望大家看見我的評價，對你有幫助！而且老闆人還特別好，兩個字“舒心”

II recently stayed at the Guanxin Art Hotel in Shuhe Old Town, and it was an absolute delight from start to finish. Tucked away in a serene corner of this charming ancient town, the hotel’s artistic design immediately captivated me—think intricate local motifs blended with modern whimsy in every corner, from the lobby’s handcrafted murals to the thoughtfully curated room accents. It’s the kind of place that feels like stepping into a living gallery. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a warming welcome tea set that set a perfectly relaxed tone after our journey. And the turndown service? A cozy surprise of warmed white fungus dessert that was both indulgent and surprisingly soothing—such a unique touch that made evenings feel special. Breakfast was a highlight, served with fresh, flavorful local ingredients and Western options that catered to every craving. Everything was excellent, from the fluffy pancakes to the vibrant fruit platters, all enjoyed in a sunlit courtyard that amplified the magic. The rooms themselves were a sanctuary: lovely, plush bedding that promised (and delivered) the deepest sleep, wrapped in an ambiance that’s equal parts elegant and inviting. What truly elevated the stay was the staff—they’re a warm, efficient bunch who went above and beyond. One team member even insisted on carrying my ridiculously heavy bags up the stairs without a second thought, all with a genuine smile. And let’s talk about the hotel’s superstar resident: a massive, fluffy husky dog who’s as photogenic as he is well-behaved. He lounged gracefully by the entrance, offering tail-wags on demand but never intrusive—pure joy! One minor note: the hotel is nestled a bit deeper into the old town, so we walked about 15-20 minutes from the pickup point. But honestly, it was a lovely stroll through lantern-lit alleys, past street vendors and hidden courtyards—part of the adventure that made arriving feel earned. If you’re seeking a boutique escape that’s artistic, attentive, and utterly memorable, Guanxin Art Hotel is it. I appreciated the convenient location and service, but the misleading tour arrangements, unexpected extra charges, and poor coordination made my overall stay frustrating and disappointing. Location: The hotel is in the southern part of the Old Town, which has fewer crowds than other areas. It’s quieter, still beautiful, and easily accessible. Service: The hotel offers one complimentary train/airport pickup if arranged in advance (for 3 night stay). The staff helped carry my luggage from the South Gate (cars can’t enter the Old Town) and provided welcome fruit upon request. Breakfast was as described, though the noodles were undercooked. The staff were responsive and helped me book tickets, including a trip to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain—but this is where things went wrong. Initially, the hotel staff quoted me a reasonable price that matched my research and said the schedule was flexible, I could spend as much time as I like. When I went to book, they suddenly told me I needed to pay about 200 RMB more because I was a foreigner—something I knew wasn’t true from my experience in other cities. They also said lunch was mandatory. I was short on time and wanted convenience, so I accepted the extra charges. Although I was told that jackets, oxygen bottles, and water would be provided, the driver took me and other Chinese tourists to a store to buy additional oxygen and energy drinks at four times the normal price. There I was told the “free” oxygen bottle was too small—information the hotel hadn’t mentioned. I bought one just in case but never needed it. I booked a sunrise tour with a 5 a.m. pickup, but we didn’t actually see sunrise at the mountain—partly due to weather, partly because the schedule wasn’t designed for it. The driver took me to Blue Moon Lake first, then the cable car, and the Impression of Lijiang show last. He kept saying I was short on time, so I needed to buy an additional ticket for battery car to get around and rushed through Blue Moon Lake without knowing how long the walk should take, only to end up waiting an hour at the cable car. After the show, we were taken to lunch, which had no menu—just a very basic hot pot shared with random strangers seated at the same table. The driver texted me to hurry up because other passengers were waiting and even told me that they didn’t pay for lunch because they knew it wasn’t good. That upset me even more. Overall, I felt rushed, overcharged, and misled, and the whole experience made the trip far less enjoyable. Amenities: The amenities were as described, but there was no daily housekeeping or towel replacement.
