We stayed here on a last minute booking over the March long weekend. We are so glad we did. Susie and Gordon were warm and friendly hosts, who went out of their way to make our stay pleasant and comfortable. We stayed in ‘the residence’ with our two teenage children. It has a lovely new bathroom, a kitchen and a barbecue outside in the patio area. This is where we cooked dinner each night. We also took advantage of the included Continental breakfast each morning. We would highly recommend this B&B and would like to stay here next time we are in Launceston. Thank you Susie and Gordon!

I stayed as a single occupant for a business trip. I didn't need parking and was only staying for one night. The room was spacious and comfortable. It was clean and well equipped. I liked the canvas prints of Tasmanian landmarks. While the fan in the bathroom sounded like a cargo plane taking off, it was easily forgiven as it was only needed when having a shower. The toiletries supplied seemed lovely but I only used to body wash and soap - there was body wash, body lotion, shampoo, conditioner, shower cap, sanitary bag. The bed was comfortable. In the firmer side but I like that. Plenty of comfy pillows. Location was central - the name doesn't lie. I was able to walk easily to many parts of the city. The little details really amplify a stay in a hotel. At Launceston Central it was the fact that there was ear plugs available in the lift. I had forgotten mine and can't sleep without them. Saved me a trip to the chemist!? My biggest regret about my stay is not grabbing the name of the person at reception when I arrived (5:30pm, 14/09). She was personable, authentic and engaging. Employee of the month material. I especially enjoyed her work on a crochet unicorn!!

I totally loved my stay at the Pod Inn!! Pros - Walkable to most major sites. - Short walking distance to groceries, restaurants, and stores - Has a restaurant beside/attached to (?) the hostel - Pods are private and spacious (and I'm a big guy!) Bed was cozy too! - Lights and air conditioning adjustable inside the pods - Place has wifi - Has a charging station for phones inside the pods - Common area has kitchen Cons - Reception is only open during business hours, so might be difficult to contact anyone outside those hours - Luggage locker is outside - Pods not too soundproof Over all I never thought I'd love staying at a pod hotel and I'm very happy that I had a wonderful experience with Pod Inn Launceston!

It’s is a beautiful hotel! It’s clean and has a lot of comfort items to make you feel at home. Great location, easy to get in and out of the city. Environment was pleasant and welcoming. The staff was the nicest staff I have ever encountered at a hotel. They were always friendly and asked how our stay was going every time walked in the door.

We stayed at Leisure Inn Pennyroyal for 2 nights this week, in a 2 bedroom apartment. The building is a quaint old English style building, and our apartment was set over 2 levels - living area on 1st level and 2 bedrooms upstairs. The apartment was clean and comfortable, and included reverse cycle aircon/heating in each living area or bedroom. Free wifi is provided which worked well. Free parking is provided in designated spaces. Our room had double glazing which provided both thermal and noise insulation. The apartment is about a 900m walk to downtown, and is a short walk to the river, where it is again a short walk to Cataract Gorge (with lighting at night time). Highly recommend The Gorge restaurant for dinner. The apartment is adjacent to the Pennyroyal Adventures site which has some fun activities such as ziplining and jumping from a cliff. There are also some restaurants and bars nearby. Be aware that the hotel does charge a surcharge for credit card payments, which we avoided by settling our bill by Eftpos Savings at checkin. I’m happy to use a credit card for booking and preauthorisation, but I don’t see any value in paying extra as a means of payment.

Car park is ground floor; check-in is 1st floor, but easily accessible via stairs and lifts. Free car parking outside; small charge for undercover parking. Reception was perfect - I arrived early and was offered a room immediately or a short wait for an upgraded room. Rooms are large, warm, comfortable, and stylish. The cafe and restaurant are very busy and Grain restaurant food is delicious. Highly recommended.

We stayed in a family room. 2 adults and 2 kids. The site looks old and dated from the outside, but while the room we had was basic it was a great price, great location and large enough that we weren't tripping over each other. We had a really good trip and this room was perfect to come back to. It had all the facilities we would want, including a microwave etc.

PPengguna TetamuCon: I would have given 5 stars except that on Friday night, the last night of a four night stay, we were kept awake until midnight by blaring live music from Mudbar which was on the ground floor below our suite. We were located on Level 2. Even having double white noise playing on our iPhones at full blast didn't drown out the noise. It ruined what had, until then, been a wonderful stay. I know Mudbar is not operated by Peppers Seaport but surely something could be done about the excessive noise. Pros: Wonderful staff from reception to housekeeping. Everyone super friendly and helpful. They should get a pay rise! We were in a Riverview Suite, room 2004. It had a lovely view and a balcony, was spotlessly clean and so spacious with a large living/dining room and a full spacious kitchen minus oven but had a toaster which was great for breakfast. Plenty of storage in the bedroom and the bathroom was really nice. Nicely located for walking around Launceston. The rooms been recently refurbished with new carpet and furniture and it was really comfortable.
SSusannaI would say it is the best hotel in Launceston. Hotel Grand Chancellor Launceston has a very good location which is the walking distance to restaurant. Rooms are clean and tidy. Waiters and Services are very good, always smile to you. We have high tea at the hotel restaurant. The scones are delicious. I would recommend my friend to stay there if they travel to Launceston.
PPengguna TetamuSTAY HERE!! Location / price / view / service / awesomeness!!! THE OWNER Lets start here! Tim, who is the owner and lives local is sensational and really makes the stay absolutely awesome!!! He has a yarn with all the guests at breakfast (which was included) and makes the effort to ask questions and get to know the guest :) wow - what a difference this makes to a stay! I never realised it until I met Tim - what I also loved was that you can tell he has REAL PRIDE in his business as he talks excitedly about the upgrades he is going through and this excitement for the business flows on to the staff that work for him who were all lovely, happy, friendly and helpful 1. I was upgraded upon checkin - my room was awesome! Top level great views! 2. I had a late checkout which was great as I had a late flight 3. Help with info on where to go and what to see - specifically Tim saying to come down and see him daily if I needed help on where to go 4. Shuttle service to airport help 5. Had an early check in at 12pm - Tim accomodated me as I had an early flight Tim even helped to organise the airport shuttle for me and called them up to secure a good price 😀 what service!! If only all owners took a page out of Tims book THE ROOM Wow! Loved it! Nice, clean with awesome views!! I was lucky to get upgraded and had top floor views over Launceston town and I couldnt wait to head back to the room after a day of exploring The bed was soooooooooooo comfortable and the BEST pillows ive ever experienced - I hope I can find 1 to buy for myself! So good! The shower… hello! What great pressure and hot water is fantastic! Mini fridge and microwave with cutlery if you want to have your own meals (which I did) so was perfect for me and one of main reasons I chose this accom BREAKFAST Amazingggggg fresh fruit!!! Chopped fruit around 8 options - this was the best part for me! Also choices of cereals and juices Toast - white / brown / raisin with jams honey peanut butters Black Coffee You can also upgrade and pay for a hot breakfast If you need parking there is free on the property Lift is quick and easy to use Bags kept at reception safe and sound when needed I have nothing negative to say at all about this accom but they have set the bar high in customer service for me Thanks Tim! Lovely to meet you and thanks for the awesome stay 😀 will be recommending Balmoral on York to all I know
PPengguna TetamuAn iconic piece of Launceston history. A beautiful building containing beautiful furnishings throughout - particularly loved the wood furniture. Great location. A warm welcome from friendly, helpful Jude was the start to a most enjoyable stay. Spacious room with a very comfy bed. Very clean, quiet and comfortable. All good! Highly recommended.
JJess Laib1213Not bad overall, very clean and convenient. Great location. One thing is - they don't have a reception, we have a late flight, so we can't leave our bags there.
PPengguna TetamuOur one-night stay here didn't get off to a good start, as my partner arrived first, an hour before me. She rang the bell and phoned the given number without any response, even though the owner's wife was inside. She had to wait 15 minutes on the doorstep before being let in (accompanied by profuse apologies). Things did improve a bit from there. The place has a cluttered, quirky, old-world charm, very like some British B&Bs I've stayed in (though no breakfast on offer here). If you prefer standardised corporate suites, the Mews is not for you. Our room was comfortable if a bit cramped, with our suitcases competing for floor space. En-suite was clean but also a bit small. Wifi was good and it's a 10-15 minute walk to restaurants in Launceston's CBD.
PPengguna TetamuWe stayed here as a family of five in a Family Room with private ensuite. We checked in 15 minutes early but the lady was happy to give us the keys to the room. The accommodation is upstairs on top of a pub/pokies. There is no lift so you have to walk up two flights of stairs and carry your luggage. Our room was very spacious with two single beds, and a sofa bed in the main living area. There was a private ensuite separating the queen bed room which was perfect for my parents. The room had basic furniture, a TV, fridge and coffee/tea making facilities. My son loved having a bubble bath as we only have a shower at home. The room was clean and the wide windows around the room made a good view of the outside which my son could look out of. Our room was situated next door to the communal kitchen and opposite to the shared bathroom which was very convenient. The hotel is within walking distance to a shopping plaza, restaurants, a KFC, Hungry Jacks, Coles and Woolworths. The only negative was that our room was situated along a busy main road and at night you could hear all the traffic passing by so we didn’t get a good night’s sleep. Also our booking via booking.com said we would get two free welcome drinks for two guests upon arrival but we didn’t get that. Other than that, we had a pleasant stay at Mowbray Hotel and would consider staying here again.
PPengguna TetamuAt the last minute we decided to stay in Launceston. Found the Park Lane Motel online and booked. It's an older property but super clean, reasonably priced and has a great view over the City Park. A short walk to central Launceston and the managers are very helpful. If you're looking for a place in central Launceston then I can recommend the Park Lane.
RRobert PaulAs a solo traveller just spending one night in Launceston, The Star Hotel was the ideal choice. It is centrally located and street parking was easy to find and free between 17.30 and 09.00 next day. The room itself was compact but comfortable with an ensuite. The friendly, efficient female staff member was able to help with local advice and when I decided to have dinner later, the food and service were exceptional. Three see a couple of stair cases to negotiate but really no trouble. This place was a highlight of my travel in Tasmania.
PPengguna TetamuDISGUSTING! We entered the vuilding and immediately a disgusting smell of dirty feed crashed into our noses! We honestly wanted to throw up and at 7pm when we arrived there was already nobody in the reception to talk to or to complain to. My bunkbed had a chewing gum sticked on it (photo attached). At night people were loud till 1am and in the morning at 5am they were back on, behaving as if it was noon time. We complained the morning after to the hostal that did not assume any responsability, saying nobody ever complained. No compensation whatsoever, but how could we prove the disgusting smell of the building?! NEVER AGAIN. ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMENDED.
