The only reason to stay at this hotel is the location. Accommodations on the Mont are scarce, and it's a special thing to wake up ON Mont St. Michel! However this hotel is severely lacking on engagement and guest service. Arriving at this location is tough due to the isolation of the mount. I called the hotel asking for guidance on parking, and was given vague instruction to Park in lot #3, which was VERY hard to locate. He also advised that due to tides, I would have to wait until about 9:30 PM to take the tram to the Mont. Sadly, the tram service drops guests off 3/4 of the way to the mount, with no warning about the tides (you can't walk the remainder during high tide), and without consideration to the weather. (Driving rain and significant winds). I was cold, soaked and had to wait for the next tram to take me back to land! Do lots of research and arrive during DAYLIGHT. The hotel provided NONE of this information in advance! A simple email with complete instructions and a map sent to arriving guests would be appropriate. Once at the hotel, the check-in experience was minimal, and I had to ask the desk clerk who took me to the room, to carry something as we ascended 3 outdoor flights and 4 indoor to a basic, harshly lit room. (one light fixture didn't work at all). Check-out was equally minimal and disinterested. Go for the location, not this hotel, check the tides and ASK the hotel for all the details in getting to them including parking on the mainland which is very confusing. Everyone I encountered there was disinterested and disengaged and didn't offer anything. It was as if they were doing me a favor letting me stay there.

The staff was overworked and so difficult to find when needed. It took 15 minutes to find the actual hotel because they closed its primary entrance and redirected entry through one of its partner hotels. After walking around and around and being ignored by a number of the staff, we then had to wait for over 40 minutes for someone to appear at reception to check in. To be fair, once the staff did show up, there were several nice individuals, but I think they were extremely overworked. Because it was so late we opted to eat in one of their restaurants and had the same issue, waiting almost 40 minutes to order and then even longer for the meal to be served. When finally we checked in, to get to the room, one had take our bags we had just brought up back down the stairs, leave the building, mount a second larger stair, walk around the back of the building, go down two flights of stairs, enter another door and then up two more flights of very narrow, circular stairs with all our bags. We were offered no help from the staff. I'm pretty sturdy but still, this was a lot of work. If you're older, I'd say this is just not possible. When we got to the room, it was very tight. I like small spaces, but this was extreme, especially for the price. For my wife to get to the bathroom at night, it was impossible to do without bumping into me and waking me up. The seagulls roosting on the roof right outside the window were insane and did not stop squalling until 2-3 in the morning, and then up again around 5 in the morning. I could have tolerated some of this, but for the price, it was just too much. St. Michel is a spectacular place but so thick with tourists it becomes almost impossible to appreciate. The food is horrible everywhere and one can tell everyone who works there is just tired of dealing with tourists. I would not recommend staying on the island at all, but for anyone who really wants to give it a go I would say so not even think of staying more than 1 day.

I could have tolerated some of this, but for the price, it was just too much. St. Michel is a spectacular place but so thick with tourists it becomes almost impossible to appreciate. The food is horrible everywhere and one can tell everyone who works there is just tired of dealing with tourists. I would not recommend staying on the island at all, but for anyone who really wants to give it a go I would say so not even think of staying more than 1 day.

There are some good things and some bad things about this place. The location is convenient to the shuttle over to Mont St Michel, and is also one of the closest hotels, which is helpful if you make the long walk there or back. The room was also decent, as was the breakfast. That said, the hotel did not send the parking access code in advance so I had to call to get it - and when I did the person suggested we'd likely be able to get into our room early, however when we arrived, the staff refused to let us do so, and didn't even want to hold our bags (and we know the hotel had only been open for 1 night after a month+ closure, so doubt the room was even full at the time). Also, it was very loud - we heard people going up and down the stairs all night long.

Fantastic place directly next to Mont Saint Michel. We brought our bikes with us and enjoyed biking a round the area and biking directly to the Mont Saint Michel avoiding the long shuttle bus queues. Very friendly and helpful hotel staff and good restaurant. The only small problem we had was getting through the entry gate to the area. There was a long queue of cars and almost everyone struggled getting through. When it was our turn we realized that we needed a code. A quick call to the hotel, who provided us the code, and problem solved.

Very friendly personnel. Plus: Great location! Situated on a site with hotls, restaurants, souvenirs shop and with the bus stop (brown buses) to Le Mont St Michel right in front (across the garden), soothing sound of the fountain water on the green.. Our 3-person room (nr 121) was situated at the front of the hotel with a view of the little park in front of the building. Clean. Bathroom and toilet separated from each other is a plus.Also nice : the shelves in the bath room to store your toiletries (usually a problem in the average hotel) Minus · Our 3-person room (nr127) was not big (3 beds close to one another in 1 room) Breakfast : not bad but not much choice and only white bread with a hard crust Only French TV channels No lift; so could be a bit of a problem to older people To find the hotel site driving on the public road to Le Mont: follow the road Rue Du Mont St Michel and look for the arrow to the Mercure Hotel which is situated on the same site .

Stayed overnight MSM as advised by a friend. It was an exceptional treat to discover MSM I’m thé evening when the maddening crowd have left. Le Mouton Blanc offered the annex rooms across the graveyard which was not an issue for my group. The windows open to the narrow, Main Street anyway. The dinner and breakfast options were sufficient for our overnight stay. I would do the same thing again if I ever visit MSM again.

We had a double room with a view of the abbey in the distance. It is a perfectly placed hotel so you can get in some walking and view the abbey at your leisure. There is a free shuttle bus about 100 metres from the hotel although the walk is not difficult nor particularly long. If you are lucky, like me, you can also see some seals in the water just before the dam on the abbey side. The hotel was comfortable although a little worn. Having said that we were there for the abbey and the view so we were quite happy. The staff at reception were both really lovely and very helpful.
