Exceptional hotel experience! They combine a fabulous location in the historic center with outstanding customer service. The team of Giovanna, Betty, Angela and others were all so welcoming and helpful. We had a problem with our next hotel for the next day in another town and the Palazzo team worked so hard and diligently to find us a replacement. I was so impressed and grateful for their efforts! From the cold drink they offered on arrival to the superb dinner in their restaurant, everything was perfect! This is the best hotel experience!

This hotel is gorgeous and perfect in every respect - the rooms are amazing and one-of-a-kind. Everything is beautifully and thoughtfully decorated, and the staff are absolutely amazing. We have stayed at a number of luxury hotels around the world and the service at Sextantio was the best we have ever had.

To be honest, I was skeptical about this one. I needed to book the hotel last minute (like literally the previous night), so seeing an old-looking building (probably constructed in the 1980s) was not really encouraging BUT I wanted to see Matera, so I went ahead. The hotel surprised me and by a lot. First of all - yes, the building is old BUT all inside is renovated, so all is great. The rooms are good in size (not too small at all, just right) and everything is very clean. You have a full minibar if you want something and the hotel has a working restaurant and staff at reception 24/7. The breakfast is phenomenal (like, literally anything any traveler could want) and the staff are helpful and friendly. The best thing about the hotel is the location. Basically, there is no other hotel in Matera which is closer to the Sassi and the historical center. You just need 5 minutes of slow walking (entrance to the old town square is just behind the hotel :) ) and you are at the viewpoint and the cistern. There is a vending machine for snacks and drinks just less than 10 minutes away down the street from the hotel (in the old town) and any sights and amazing places to eat are within the same 5-10 minute distance. If you want to see the historical center of Matera, this is the place to stay (you won't regret it, trust me!). The hotel is very popular with Italians visiting Matera, so keep that in mind and if you are not travelling solo, like me, better book in advance :) The prime location comes with a single downside and a few things to consider (listing them here as they are just things to keep in mind and not something that is a huge issue) - the proximity to the Sassi means you will be quite far away from the bus station (3 kilometers) and the train station (1.5 kilometers). The distance is not that much BUT it is an uphill slope 90% of the time, so if you have a lot of luggage, better take a taxi. I loved it, so there is nothing I can put my finger at as a bad things, really, I just want to continue what I started above with the things you should keep in mind when visiting. If you come by car, make sure to notify the hotel in advance, as it is within a restricted parking area and parking lots are limited. Also be aware that the hotel is busy (as I said, very popular with Italians visiting) and check-in starts at 15.00, so if you come in earlier than that, you may need to wait. The staff would do anything they can to accommodate you early, BUT if you plan on arriving before noon, better notify them, to get your room ready. The hotel also have luggage storage, just so you know. Did I say I loved it? Just to repeat I can't wait to return!

We arrived by car at this new, modern hotel. We could easily park the car in one of the free parking spaces in the fenced area in front of the impressive building. At the reception we were welcomed by a lady who was top friendly and super professional at the same time. When we checked in, we immediately felt warmly welcome. We were given valuable tips for our stay in the city, and we were also helped to book a table for dinner when seats in the restaurants were scarce because of the weekend. The spacious rooms have a creative design. At the same time, they are very homely. Everything is absolutely clean. The beds are comfortable with pleasant pillows. Air conditioning and rain shower are of course also part of the great equipment. At breakfast, we were equally welcomed by brilliant staff who complemented the rich, high-quality buffet with perfect service. We will be back!

I stayed at Hotel Nazionale-Matera while visiting family for 9 nights with my son. My wife recommended this hotel based on her stay a few weeks earlier when she visited Matera with friends. She knows how fussy I can be, so she knows if I didn't like it, she would be hearing about it for quite awhile. The hotel is in a great location, modern, and safe. The room was sleek, clean, and housekeeping came every day. The beds were comfortable and extra blankets and pillows were available. The breakfast was delicious and offered a wide variety of options-eggs, sausages, rolls, toast, pastries (lots of delicious pastries), fruit, juice, coffee, etc. I looked forward to going there each morning. The hotel staff was professional, friendly and very accommodating. We had to leave very early on our last day to catch an early flight and they arranged for a bagged breakfast for us. We enjoyed cocktails in the bar and sitting on the patio was an extra plus. After 9 nights you'd think I would have at least one negative take away, but I don't.

Bella struttura che nn si trova nei sassi ma che consente di raggiungere facilmente il centro Personale cordiale, molto professionali alla reception. Piscina pulitissima e bellissimo il giardino utilizzatoper cerimonie. Colazione abbondante, con ogni ben di Dio, servita da due simpatiche signorine che mi hanno sopportato con le mie richieste di limone per il te e di cappuccino senza lattosio e senza schiuma! 😁 Le stanze sono pulitissime grazie alla signora Alba che non solo ha reso la stanza uno specchio, ma mi ha anche piegato delle magliette lasciate da me in disordine. In conclusione, struttura consigliata con prezzi onesti con pulizia massima e personale all'altezza della situazione.
