Friendly staff at the reception, okayish at the breakfast (maybe a language issue? replying ”What?” to a customer politely calling isn't the appropriate answer!). None of them speak French. The room looked really nice, was well equipped and on the back street so quiet as well. The bed was comfortable, water kettle & tea available in the room. Travelling with our dog, I had checked before if he was allowed and nowhere was it written that there was an extra fee and the confirmation didn't mention this either despite announcing that we were with one in the comment box. On the + side, comfortable dog bed, bowl and treat was ready in the room, which was a really nice touch. Also a fee for the underground garage, mentioned nowhere. Warning: parking spots are narrow, we have a mid-size car which barely fit, so if you have an SUV or large car you may want to park in the street (free at night). Breakfast had a good choice, fresh pressed orange juice machine, quite varied choice. There is no restaurant at the hotel, but it is in the center of the village which has many options literally a few steps away, so absolutely not an issue.

Пришлось остановиться в этом отеле, потому что не было других вариантов на выбранные даты. Отель не ремонтировался с момента его создания, всё оооочень старое, как будто потрепанный советский санаторий в провинции, доживающий последние дни. В одной из наших комнат была более менее отремонтирована ванная комната( все самое дешёвое). Везде запах старья, столетняя ковровая обивка. Обслуживание: ощущение, что хозяин отеля из Индии подтянул на работу свою семью и они обслуживают отель как могут: в тренировочных штанах и футболках(надели что было), не понимая где они и что должны делать- вот и все обслуживание. Более убогого завтрака мы не видели даже в самых простых европейских отелях, а в этом,на минуточку, одна ночь для двоих стоит 250 франков!!! Итак завтрак: круассаны, хлеб, один сорт самого дешевого сыра(живу в Швейцарии-знаю о чем говорю) и ветчины, нарезаные фрукты, йогурт и вареные яйца; кофе из кофемашины и чай, соки из пакетов-всё. Мы не рискнули здесь ужинать, потому что готовит его скорее всего та же женщина в тренировочных штанах, что убирает столы за завтраком. Если есть возможность, рекомендую не тратить деньги на это убожество, учитывая, что номер в старинном и респектабельном Parkhotel du Sauvage стоит дешевле! Если бы это стоило в 2 раза дешевле- не было бы никаких претензий, для переночевать вполне подходит, но еще раз повторюсь- поразило полное несоответствие цены и качества.

On a passé 2 nuits dans cette belle auberge de jeunesse. Le cadre est magnifique, avec le lac de Brienz bleu-vert et des montagnes. Tout est propre et accueillant, le petit déjeuner est copieux ainsi que le repas qui est très bon. On aurait seulement pu se passer de la viande le soir qui n’était pas top. On dispose d’un petit jardin avec des tables et des transats qui donne sur le lac. Juste à côté,une mini-plage où se baigner. Séjour très réussi, je recommande vivement !

PROS * Incredible unique building * Iconic fairy-tale type structure * Stunning unique period-piece architecture * A true remnant of ”La Belle Epoque” * Isolated and tranquil (but only when day hikers have not yet arrived or have departed) * Stunning lobby and ground and first-floor * Exquisitely and tastefully furnished sitting rooms * Beautiful and well-manicured grounds * Unspeakable breath-taking scenery of the waterfalls and lake * Access to ”easy” super pleasant hikes along the waterfalls CONS * It can be hectic during the day with all the hikers * Primary access by boat and fun icular for guests, but cars can get there too ”I VISITED THIS PLACE”... ... because I was hiking up along and to the top of the waterfall, and this was a bonus to see and visit. It was quite busy with meals being served to the many many day visitors- there must have been at least 50-70 at any given moment. Surely the outside beauty speaks for itself but to see the inside lobby and sitting rooms and (at least two) indoor dining rooms for the honored guests- what surprising lush elegance and soft under spoken glamour. I was thrilled to be able to wander and explore all the public areas of the ground and first floor. TIPS It is truly an amazing place- even if your goal is to hike (and who doesn't want to hike), this place should be visited.
