Hotel berhampiran Hume Global Learning Centre - Sunbury, Melbourne

My wife and I operate a small coach tour company, and have done so for the last 28 years. We offer residents of Sydney, the Central Coast, the Southern Highlands, Canberra and Queanbeyan, the opportunity to travel on a variety of tours, ranging from four days to ten days in length, to different areas in Eastern Australia. Last week, a group of our passengers from these areas travelled on a seven-day tour to Victoria. During the tour, our passengers stayed for four nights at the Novotel Melbourne Preston. We certainly have no complaints or regrets about using this Hotel for our group’s stay! When I first contacted the Hotel in September 2023, about the possibility of using it for my tour group’s accommodation for this tour, my enquiry was treated with genuine enthusiasm. I was put through to the Sales Manager, Ms Michele Kerrigan. Michele was amazing to deal with. After a steady stream of telephone conversations and emails during the next few days, the accommodation was booked, and the menus for all the dinners during this stay were locked in. At some hotels we’ve used over the years, this process can take weeks, and it can be quite a frustrating experience. At this Hotel, it was the exact opposite. So, a huge ‘thank you’ to Michele, for making this all so easy for us as tour organisers! After all the arrangements we finalised, and the booking was locked in, Michele passed on our booking to the Sales Coordinator, Annalise Dimase. Once again, Annalise was an absolute delight to work with! Between the finalisation of the booking, and the date of the group’s arrival, we spoke many, many times on the phone, and exchanged many, many emails. In all my dealings with Annalise, she was professional, personable, helpful, patient, and attentive. On a few occasions, when Annalise was unavailable, I was transferred to Nada, another member of the Sales Team. Again, Nada was wonderful to work with. When our tour group arrived at the hotel, Michele, Nada, and Annalise were all there to greet the passengers. They were very impressed by the warm and friendly welcome offered to them by this team! Once inside the Hotel, this level of service was experienced in all sections. The reception staff, the housekeeping staff, the restaurant staff, the chef and kitchen staff were all friendly, welcoming, obliging, and helpful. We would have no hesitation in recommending this Hotel to any tour groups requiring accommodation in Melbourne. Judging by our experience, it would be difficult to surpass the level of attentiveness and friendliness offered by the management team and staff, the quality of service, the degree of comfort, and the attention to detail our group received during their stay. The staff were not following COVID protocols. None wore masks. Day manager actually spoke to us with mask on chin and AROUND the safety barrier. One pen used for everything by everyone. Night manager & staff as well as other guests were all maskless. We were not asked to show proof of our vaccination status. Inspired ZERO confidence that they were actually sanitising anything. My partner also felt unsafe as there were a lot of people loitering around the building. The room was clean and tidy. Located excellently for the event we were attending. Hot water worked, loved the choice of flooring. That was all. The room offered only one single bar of soap. No shower gel, shampoo or any extra toiletries as is expected from even the most basic accomodation you can stay in anywhere else. I have stayed in youth hostels in the outback and even they offered more than a tiny bar of soap. There was no indications of any extra services offered or being available. There were no extra pillows or blankets available in the room. One very flat pillow per person and a thin doona only. The pillows were so low that I could not sleep on it and when I asked for another pillow from the night manager I was met with rudeness. He finally gave me an old, dirty pillow with no pillow case (see photos). When I asked for a pillow case he acted like I was being ridiculous. We slept badly as the bed was very hard. Actually went home and slept as we were so tired from the uncomfortable bed. Upon checkout we got stuck in the lift as the door to the G floor would not open. We finally called for help using the phone but even though the front desk manager answered and said he would be with us immediately he was not. We finally left by going back to our floor and using the fire escape to exit via the basement parking. He then told us he couldn’t hear what we were saying on the phone so basically ignored us, and then gave some rubbish excuse about the one elevator being an old one that was not for guests. Basically if we had not exited the way we did we would have been stuck in the elevator for hours being ignored. There was no signage indicating anywhere that one of the two lifts was not for guests, and if the lift was not for guests you would think it would be clearly marked so.

As a former hotel worker and frequent traveler I was very impressed with The StandardX Hotel and Staff. Friendly, approachable staff who were always smiling and helpful. Certainly has a much more youthful vibe compared to your normal Hilton, Hyatt etc. I was apparently upgraded to Room 501 for a three night stay. A hand written note with some delicious pastries on arrival in room. The rooms are nicely styled, a bit different and a little tight. A room to sleep in, certainly not one to spend the day working from as there is no couch, or table to work from. The bed was amazingly comfortable. I'd go so far as to say the most comfy hotel bed i've slept in. If you like fresh air, you could also open the window for some brisk Melb air. Very clean and quiet rooms. The glass walled (frosted) bathroom might concern some, although I had no issue as it was just me. The rooftop terrace is fantastic although there is no bar or cafe, you'll need to bring your food, drink or laptop up here to work with an amazing view. Hotel is located close to trams and the nightlife of Fitzroy around the corner. Unfortunately I did not try the restaurant so can't comment on the food there but the menu looked delicious. Looking forward to returning.

Very convenient, close to Victoria Market. Walkable to South cross station. Many shops nearby, 7/11 just down the street. There’s a Sarawak and Indonesia restaurant nearby within walking distance. Room was neat, but without any much necessities like toothbrush comb etc. Friendly staffs.. quiet place.

Asrama anak perempuan saya betul-betul bertentangan Walaupun ia adalah kawasan yang tidak bebas, anda boleh menaiki trem percuma hanya 400 meter dari perpustakaan Ia sangat mudah untuk menaiki trem atau berjalan ke mana-mana setiap hari. Saya menginap selama tiga malam dan menukar kepada dua jenis bilik. Bilik ini mempunyai dapur dan ruang tamu, sangat dekat dengan Pasar Wei Ma! Kelemahannya ialah tong sampah dan tuala mandi tidak ditukar sejak beberapa hari ini, tetapi kami tidak peduli, kami hanya boleh mengeringkan tuala mandi di balkoni .

The place was comfortable but it does not clean the whole apartment during our stay.. you have to remind them if we can. Our sink was full of dirty cups and has to do ourselves when we return late. Apart from that, we have a pleasant stay..the staffs are very helpful.

Perfect location and nice staff. But that’s all. The room was completely different from the photos. There’s nothing like curtains to block the water from shower and the water just splashing around the toilet and the whole floor. If we knew this, we wouldn’t have booked this hotel. Location is perfect so I would recommend this hotel to people who don’t really care about shower.. Other rooms could be different and better than our room…

Before I went to Melbourne, I had had the negative experience of Mercure in Thailand and I didn't want to choose it, to be honest, but I didn't have any choice because the price and location were better than other places. Wow. I was surprise because everything was unexpected I can say thanks to the hotel 1.The location is good and it is located in the CBD. Convenient transportation, lots of Asian restaurants, supermarkets and convenient stores. It is not far from the place I had to work. 2.The staff are great and helpful with service mind. Yes, I found a Thai girl staff who is really nice. We received the good service. Even though, the policy is they clean the room 1 in 3 days, but I was ok because we had to save the world. 3.The size of the room is small and the size of the beds were small too but enough for sleeping well and everything in the room was clean and function well. 4.No water bottles. I understood that we had to drink water from the tab. I was used to it because I knew it well, but my boss was not used to it and couldn't accept this. Please make the remark in the booking or put a paper in the room so that some people can prepare themselves for this culture. However, thanks for the milk in the fridge. Just positive experiences with this hotel this time. Thanks to you all

This hotel is beyond my expectations, at this reasonable price, the service provided is sufficient, high-quality and I am satisfied to choose this hotel for my first trip to Melbourne. From the room’s window I could see the scenery of city.The Aussie-style breakfast provided in 5th floor dining hall is good and refreshing to me. The roof bar is a great choice for a cocktail. If I have chance I would like give recommendations to my friends to choose this hotel if they are planning a trip to Melbourne.

Loved this hotel. Right next to Doncaster shopping center (quality shopping without the pretentiousness of chadstone). Car parking available onsite (extra cost). Reception staff were lovely and so helpful, couldn’t do enough for their guests. Rooms were well appointed, beds and pillows were very comfortable. Rooms were clean. Housekeeping staff were great - warm and always spoke to everyone who walked past them. We did not have breakfast, but regretted that decision as we left the hotel for our pre-booked breakfast elsewhere. Restaurant looked fantastic (both for breakfast and dinner). Pool was a great size, and provided endless entertainment for our children. No view offered like chadstone hotel, but a much more family friendly pool. No spa unfortunately. Gym was great and right next door to the pool. Will definitely stay there again!
