PPengguna TetamuI've travelled to many parts of Japan for over a decade and in terms of ”a comfortable hotel with no complaints”, this is it for me.
No complaints but I do have a small feedback which is to have the breakfast start at 6 or 6.30am for early/business travellers to be able to grab a bite before they can go about their day.
Other than that, the room was comfortable and big enough for a small side sofa by the window, there were spaces to open a medium sized cargo bag, the amenities were sufficient and so were the Eco-friendly initiatives (room service, bamboo in place of plastic items), etc. There was also a decent humidifier provided during winter (but that was not enough for me who comes from the tropics), I had my own small humidifier too and still it was kind of dry (not a hotel problem).
The view coming up the elevator and at the lobby was majorly impressive - boasting a skyline of both Tokyo Tower against Mt Fuji in the distance; during sunset, it was such a sight to behold. The lobby is big and has lots of rest/seating areas with some small amount of drinks provided from 5am to 10pm and it was a very relaxed atmosphere. The service staff were impressive - knowing a wide range of languages and when they did not, remained unfazed and used translation tools. They were all polite, helpful and the F&B members too, made you feel like you were in some high-end restaurant. The artwork was also very nice to observe all over and if I have the chance to afford this hotel again, I'd do it in a snap.
Other important notes are that there is a convenience store at B2 of the same building. Level 3 is a bridge that links you directly to Yurikamome line monorail -and a little further, to the Asakusa and Ginza lines from there. The Ginza honten (main store) Don Quijote is also a 10 to 15 minute walk from there and so are many local eateries (5 min walk) and shopping areas (Carote, 10 to 15mins walk).

GGlobetrotter520Excellent location. Next to train station, near all the attractions at Asakusa. So many F&B options nearby. Simply awesome. Do note the rooms are small so you probably need to think how to position your luggages so you won't trip and fall.

PPengguna TetamuCheck in at level 20. So definitely you will have a night view of Tokyo. The staffs are friendly and helpful. Our flight have delayed and still able check in at 1am. Level 1 got convenient store, really a great place to get our quick meal. Will visit again next time

PPengguna TetamuI highly recommend this hotel for it's location, facility and service! The subway entrance of Higashi Ginza station is nearly right in front to the hotel front door so you can access to several tourist locations near grey line or deep pink line easily. I realized hotel in Tokyo do not have hotpublic bath but this hotel has one!! You can also check how crowded the bath is from your room through TV monitor. The hotel offers Happy Hour service where you can enjoy free flow of sake, wine, beverages and simple snacks like dried fruits and chips from 5pm to 9pm. Hoteliers are all very kind and helping which made overall experience at this hotel incredible!

We spent one night here for our last day in Japan, because the location in perfect of you have to get the Narita Express, and because the hotel has a restaurant inside (very good for our baby boy, so in our plan we could have an early dinner inside).
We arrived, we checked in and we asked for the restaurant menu. They said the restaurant is open to children from 7 years old (basically is an adults only restaurant). We were very disappointed even because there was no indication of that anywhere.
In the meanwhile they gave us the room, we asked for a changing room for the diaper change, the receptionist indicated me a toilet. Surprise? There was no place to change the baby.
I returned to the reception and kindly informed the staff that it was absolutely ok for me to change the baby there, so they gave us the room, before than we expected.
The room has lots of amenities, but it is terribly small. We had to leave the stroller out of our room. Important note: there is a window, but you can’t open it.
What about the breakfast... Extremely minimal, no choice,nothing healthy for children (fresh fruits, fresh yogurt).
It is not the right choice with family.

JJoyful TravellerWhile this hotel has a convenient location, the experience was ruined by a lack of basic hospitality and very cramped quarters. The room was so small it was difficult to even open two large suitcases. More disappointing, however, was the staff’s attitude. Everything is followed strictly 'by the book' with zero flexibility. I was told a late check-out would be charged by the hour, and even a simple request for a complimentary bottle of water was flatly denied. The staff were condescending and never offered a smile, making for a very unwelcoming environment. A small gesture like a bottle of water costs almost nothing but earns customer loyalty; unfortunately, this hotel chooses rigid rules over guest satisfaction. I would not recommend staying here.

There is a Macdonald at the ground floor but it’s not 24hour open and there is also a convenience store but I’m not sure whether it is 24-hr open. It’s convenient if you wanna go Disney.

PPengguna TetamuShinjuku Granbell Hotel was my accommodation choice during this Tokyo Shinjuku trip. Part of the design-oriented Granbell chain, the hotel opened in 2013 and expanded with additional rooms in 2016. It has a modern and stylish vibe overall, making it a good fit for travelers who enjoy a bit of personality and contemporary feel.
The rooms are decent—not particularly spacious (typical for central Tokyo hotels), but the design is pleasant and they come with Simmons mattresses, so the bed is comfortable to sleep in. What stands out is that the hotel has a very large number of rooms (reportedly over 400 in total), making it a mid-to-large-scale property. Check-in can occasionally feel a bit busy in the lobby due to the volume of guests, but operations run smoothly. Room types are quite varied, from standard doubles to loft-style rooms, offering good flexibility when booking.
Location is one of the more debated aspects of this hotel. It is very close to the heart of Shinjuku—right inside Kabukicho—so you’re surrounded by endless restaurants, izakayas, convenience stores, drugstores, and nightlife. Walking distance covers popular spots like Korean Town in Okubo or Golden Gai, which makes evening strolls and late-night eating extremely convenient. However, if you rely on the subway, the nearest station (Higashi-Shinjuku) is about a 4-minute walk (official figure), but to reach the major hubs like JR Shinjuku Station or Shinjuku-sanchome Station, it usually takes around 15 minutes on foot (depending on your exact route, and sometimes you have to navigate through the lively Kabukicho crowds). For someone who enjoys walking, it’s manageable, but dragging large luggage or walking in the rain might feel a bit inconvenient. In short, the location is highly central and vibrant, but it’s not quite “step out the door and you’re at the station” level.
Room cleanliness is acceptable—daily housekeeping is thorough, with bathrooms, bedding, and floors kept in good condition, and no noticeable odors or mess. Everything feels clean and comfortable enough for a pleasant stay, but there is nothing particularly outstanding about it. The decor follows a simple modern style, facilities are standard (free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, fridge, etc.), and while functional, it doesn’t wow you. Bathrooms are on the small side (normal for Tokyo), but hot water is reliable and usage is fine. They also offer free loan of air purifiers or humidifiers, which is a nice small touch.
Other minor highlights include the rooftop terrace (great for night views or a drink on clear evenings), a café, and a bar with decent atmosphere. Breakfast is an additional charge, but with so many dining options nearby, skipping the hotel breakfast is never an issue.
In summary, Shinjuku Granbell Hotel isn’t a top-tier luxury property, but if you’re looking for a lively Shinjuku location, moderate design appeal, clean and practical rooms, and surroundings full of energy and food options at a mid-range budget, it’s a solid and pragmatic choice. The large number of rooms means availability tends to be reliable. While the walk to major stations takes about 15 minutes, for anyone wanting to fully immerse in Shinjuku’s nightlife and buzz, that actually becomes an advantage. Overall value for money is above average. Recommended for first-time Shinjuku visitors who want a fun, convenient, and comfortable base without breaking the bank!
