Niyagama House

It was a last stop in our round trip in SriLanka. During our trip we stayed in many hotels (on 5* star) but in Niyagamahouse we felt like 6 or more stars :) Clean, amazing hospidality, food was excellent, rooms and treatments were perfect. We were like in the middle of jungle surrounded by different sounds from nature. Everyhting was in balance. We felt like in heaven and really looking forward to be back in NiyagamaHouse.

There are truly no words to fully describe how incredible my stay at Niyagama House was. It was an oasis of calm and beauty, providing the perfect space for relaxation and rejuvenation. After a busy year, I came here to unwind before continuing my travels around Sri Lanka, and it exceeded all my expectations. The peaceful surroundings, impeccable service, and wonderful amenities made it an unforgettable experience. * Elke answered all of my questions prior to booking so I was very clear on what I was booking and how much it would cost. I did loads to research prior to booking. * Elke and her team were incredibly welcoming from the moment I arrived. Their kindness made me feel completely at home. * The house is stunning, with several balconies that offer breathtaking views of the serene landscape. It even has a charming little library. * My bedroom was the perfect retreat, featuring a comfortable bed, mosquito net, and a lovely deck where I could enjoy my morning tea while watching monkeys play in the trees. * I spent many hours by the beautiful pool, swimming at my leisure, surrounded by nature's tranquility. * A peaceful walk around the area gave me the chance to greet the friendly, smiling locals. * The food was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. It was served on the verandah, with views of the pool and trees, making every meal feel special. There are no restaurants nearby, but the food here was some of the best I had during my entire trip. * I arranged for a local masseuse to visit, and the massage was wonderfully relaxing, adding to the overall rejuvenating experience. * The house is about 20 minutes by tuk-tuk from Galle Fort, which I visited a couple of times during my 10-day stay. * As a beginner, I took part in Elke’s Yin yoga class, and she was incredibly attentive and supportive. The morning meditation was also a peaceful start to each day. There are various packages available for yoga and meditation, or you can simply relax and enjoy the stay. While Niyagama House was the most expensive place I stayed during my month in Sri Lanka, it was by far the best. Overall, I absolutely loved my time at Niyagama House and will definitely make it a priority to return in the future.

We came upon Niyagama by chance and can't believe our luck! Elke and her team were warm, lovely hosts. The house and our bedroom were comfortable and beautiful, as are the pool and surroundings. A local walk offers the opportunity to see locals with their ready smiles. It is about 20 mins to Galle Fort by tuk tuk (available from the hotel) but offers a calm oasis immersed in nature. The food was healthy and fabulous and served with care in a lovely setting. As a novice to yoga, and with a bit of kind, gentle encouragement, I tried out Elke's Yin yoga class, She was attentive, motivating and supportive and I found it relaxing and rewarding. I also had a heavenly massage. You cannot fail to be enchanted by this place. Highly recommended!

I absolutely loved my stay in this beautiful property surrounded by dense greenery and away from the hustle and bustle. The staff is so friendly. Elke & Prasad are so thoughtful and helpful. This place has such good vibes. The food is so delicious and flavourful. They cater to healthy food options too. This place has Yoga sessions that you can partake in, and it can be a great way to unwind. Overall I absolutely loved my stay here, and will definitely try to visit again in the future. Highly recommend it as a yoga retreat and detox staycation.

What a gorgeous relaxing place! We stayed here 2 nights (would have loved to stay longer but we were in lack of time) and enjoyed a lot the environment and the garden. We could spot a lot of beautiful birds in the garden and the purple faced langur. Beautiful and large swimming pool. Perfect rooms! The service and staff were excellent! The food was our best experience throughout our whole trip in Sri Lanka. We travel around the world since 30 years and this accomodation comes in our TOP 3. We highly recommand! Thank you for the best stay! The kind host, delicious food, and polite service helped us to recover from the fatigue of our trip. The yoga lessons were very educational and fun to participate in. Also, the morning meditation helped me to detoxify my mind. This is the best hotel in Sri Lanka! I was really happy to be able to talk to the host, who had such a nice personality. I will definitely come back next time I come to Galle. Thank you for the best stay!
