The location is beautiful, but you need to accept that the road to and from the little town of Morcote is exactly in front of te hotel and if you wish to sleep with the terrace door open, you will need to accept the noise from the traffic. The views from the lake front deluxe rooms rooms and balconies is terrific. The room was luxuriously appointed, as well as the bathroom. However this was already the case 20 and more years ago, when we stayed at the property. If one likes the decor or not is a matter of taste. It's rather ”heavy” or say a classic style.. Although the rooms are generally speaking in good condition, refreshing and maintenance are overdue. Carpet in our room had a big stain right at the entry, shower door did not close tightly and squeaked noticeably. The sink drained very poorly, no exhauster in the bathroom to get rid of the fog after a hot shower, and many more issues. No turn-down service in the evening, courtesy bottle of water only on the first day, no change of bed linens on daily basis, not even after three days. Not a single flower, not even artificial, in the room, no courtesy welcome fruit plate or other courtesy in the room upon arrival. One can really notice and feel that the management does not care. Breakfast buffet is good and plenty, served on the 6th floor in Summer and offers magnificent lake views. No ”a la carte” alternatives, like freshly made omelettes, etc. The pool and the pool areas are very nice and food and drinks are served. However be prepared to pay a HUGE price for food and drinks. A coke is 9.00 Swiss Francs, alcoholic beverages are 20.00 and more Swiss Francs, a hamburger or club sandwich gets you way over 30.00 Francs, a ”Coup Romanoff” ice cream 19.00 Francs (!!!) , ONE ice cream ball 6.00 Francs, and so on. Just totally overpriced and we stay at a lot of 5 Star hotels run by Mandarin Oriental, Belmond, Rosewood, Four Seasons, etc. But when it is time for dinner. DO NOT, have it at the hotel. Dish varieties are poor, to describe it mildly. Prices are outrageous for what you get. My filet mignon (petit ) was served with salad leaves (NO, not as decoration !!), but as side dish !! The meat was certainly not that of a prime cut and rather tough, the Osso Buco my wife ordered was totally dry (over-cooked), tough, full of fat. Just bad. As a comparison we had osso buco in a small restaurant in Morcote restaurant two days earlier. It was SUPERB. The fact that one sat at the lake-side and there was live music during dinner did not help to overcome the very bad food. To sum it up, this hotel could be a super 5 star gem. It is not. But I guess that when the management and owner is happy with the sale of rooms and services, there is no need to bother.

When you see the beauty of this resort, you expect a unique up-to-standard experience. And then you get there, most of the staff will be very nice. And then everything else falls short. We drove an hour and a half from Milan to get to this place. The photos and display online showed that it was worth it. The pool area is fantastic. The view from up top is superb. And then you get to your room, and you’re thinking “this doesn’t feel like a $350 per night kind of room 🤔”. We call downstairs asking to get something to eat. And there it goes, the horror story of Italian Villa type hotels: kitchen hours. You don’t make kitchen hours you don’t eat. Period. But you’re thinking “when a hotel gives itself a 5 star rating, isn’t it required to serve food 24/7?”. Anyway, “kitchen is closed” was the imposed reality. So we had to wait. Dinner time came, we were tired so we asked to order to the room. Now I’m all for a luxury resort charging me high for fine dining. But I got 4 raviolis, and a small portion of what was supposed to be risotto, but that looked like army rice swimming in a lot of liquid, with lumps of something on top. The raviolis tasted bitter, and the risotto was simply repulsive. And they priced those at around $80. Please look at the photos and see what I mean. At breakfast, where the staff were more than courteous, we then discovered that the kitchen was indeed sub-standard at this place. The food items were okay. Budget hotel level okay. But that is not good enough for a resort at this price, is it? I mean for me to have a mini croissant and not have another, tells you something about how not that great they are. Same goes for the cakes etc. Sub-standard. We ended up returning the food and ordering a cheese sandwich and fries. Which we then had for lunch the next day, because, we arrived to the restaurant 6 minutes after “kitchen closed”. Even the fries were not great. Can you imagine a kitchen screwing up on fries? On the third day we had an emergency back home so we had to leave. We asked them to cancel the third night, and we were going to leave at 9am which is way before checkout time. They refused. We then asked to pay half a room rate as penalty, but the full rate was too much. Especially that we had stayed two nights already. They refused. And so we got charged $350 for a night we didn’t use. I believe that this hotel was beautifully designed, then handed over to management (or the owners themselves) that is not fit for such premises. And cannot hold the required standard. What a disappointment.

We had a wonder stay for two nights. The hotel is a classic with lots of history and a perfect location for walking to the town or enjoying a swim in the Lake. The formal restaurant was outstanding. Be sure to ask for a room with a view of the lake. The Pizza restaurant was perfect for a casual dinner with a great view.

Sehr schöne und moderne Zimmer kürzlich komplett renoviert. Stylish, praktisch und mit Sinn fürs Detail eingerichtet. Minibar im Zimmer mit gratis Getränke. Im Eingangbereich gibt's auch noch eine Selfservice-Kaffeemaschine und einen Kühlschrank für Getränke. Man kann sich einfach bedienen, die Getränke am Self Check-in/out Terminal registrieren und bezahlen. Das Konzept ”Self Check-in / Check-out funktioniert einwandfrei. Bravo! Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Strasse daneben ist stark befahren, für mehr Ruhe lohnt sich ein Zimmer auf der Seeseite zu nehmen.

Súper decent hotel outstanding staff my stay here with my family was wonderful and comfortable. The best thing about a vacation is to rest well and have a delicious breakfast and this hotel has it all, a first class service, with high quality care, I have to mention what caught my attention the most was the hygiene at breakfast time is very Important for me. I don't have many photos but I do have videos that I can't upload here from the hotel but I have it on my Instagram karol__0729….Very satisfied with our stay, just need to implement the parking

I stayed only one night as my preferred hotel was fully booked and I was forced into hotel city lugano. I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was the kindest I have ever encountered anywhere in the world. Sure the decor isnt anything to praise and they dont have room service or other basics but it is clean and efficient. I have to say one more time that the staff here is just amazing, every single one of them. I would recommend this hotel.

Well..... where do I start, this is one of the most breath taking places I have ever visited in the world. I booked this for my daughters 30th birthday it was her choice to go to Switzerland, neither of us had visited this part of the world before and it far exceeded our expectations. It took a plane, train and a taxi to get us to the hotel so a bit of a journey but sooooooo worth it. We flew to Milan, took a train to Lugano and got a cab up to the hotel. Tip catch the 444 bus from the train station, it so much cheaper than a cab and the bus drops you right outside the hotel, we used the bus every time after that to go down to the town. The hotel itself is stunning, the views are amazing, you have to see them to believe the photos do not capture the utter beauty of this place. You will also notice the peace, all you can hear is birdsong, it is absolute heaven. The hotel staff are amazing, they could not be more helpful. We has lots of questions and time and again they helped even printing bus time tables and giving us maps and tips. We had a welcome prosecco on arrival and then went to find our room. WOW! and what a room We had been upgraded from a garden room to a room with a view of the lake and a wrap around balcony. My daughter opened the balcony door and almost burst with excitement, it was amazing. We had a twin room which was large and super bathroom and even the view from the loo. The room was clean and comfortable, there is a safe, fridge and kettle. You are provided with robes, slippers and even a bag to pop your bits in when using the spa. This hotel has thought of everything. I could write a 10,000 word review on this hotel there is so much to say. The infinity pool is warm and you lean your elbows up on the side and just stare at that view. There is an amazing indoor pool which you can swim into from the outside pool through automatic doors. Tip give the sensors a little wave and the doors open quicker. We had two treatments in the Dot spa a massage on one day and a facial on the other, both fabulous and the staff in the spa are great. Breakfast was included in our room rate and had so much choice. We eat in the restaurant for lunch a dinner but also had room service and dinner on our balcony which was lovely and a little bit cheaper to. The view every where are fantastic, it takes 30 minute to get up the mountain so you are very high. There is a little airport way below and we loved watching the planes take off over the lake and we were still way above them. We took a walk through the Algra mountain one morning and whilst it is challenging (its very steep) it is so beautiful and worth the climb. I could say so much more but I think you should just go and see for yourself. You will not be disappointed you will come away feeling on top of the world. My daughter loved it so much she is going to return with her husband for their 10th wedding anniversary. Thank you so much Kurhaus we had the best time.

The hotel staff in particular at the reception were very helpful and provided support in terms of what to visit in Lugano as a tourist. In fact they recommended few beautiful places that I was aware of. Furthermore, the room was spacious, parking lot was withing the hotel area and the lake was only 200 meters away from the hotel. Overall, excellent hotel with fantastic staff. Thank you Laila and everyone to make my stay a memorable experience.

I really wanted to give this place 5 stars. I am a self-admitted hotel snob, and I try to find the finest and most upscale properties. This could have been it. It is arguably the best looking property in all of Lugano. The building and grounds are gorgeous. Even the hallways were gorgeous. The property looked like a 5-star hotel. The staff had 5-star hotel hospitality. And the room was well appointed and nicely decorated (teal/gray). The furniture looked pleasing to sit on (when I typically avoid sitting on hotel furniture). The views from the room and balcony were spectacular. So why did I only give it 3 stars? My first issue with the hotel was that the room had a make-shift king-sized bed that was not a king-size mattress, but instead, two twin mattresses pushed together. This was horrible!! When hotels do this, you should have a converter *****, which is simple enough to order and softly seals the crack between the two beds, so that you are not falling deep into a hole! I was there on a romantic getaway, which was very much needed, and we could not even sleep closely together. It was horrible! The pillows were also very uncomfortable. My second issue was that the room was cold, and there was no way to adjust the heat from the room. This was obviously being controlled by the hotel/staff (and, usually, only hotels that are penny pinching tend to do this!). When I questioned this, they brought a space/electric heater to our room (as if they were prepared for these types of complaints). This is a problem, and winter is coming!! Not only did the space heater NOT help, but space heaters are dangerous and can cause fires. I was very uncomfortable with the thought of guests having these heaters in their rooms and leaving out for the day with the thing still plugged in and turned on! A very close friend of mine lost his father in a hotel fire, which made the news, and this is probably how that fire started! Lastly, the rooms are on the lower level, and our room was by the dining area where breakfast was held. We were awakened at 6AM every morning (weekend) where staff starting setting up and clinging and clanging dishes, and then guests gathered and ate very loudly seemingly right outside of our room (Room A). This is a BEAUTIFUL room w/ a stunning view, but a HORRIBLE room location! [*The breakfast buffet, where you can also order a hot omelette, is very nice by the way.] In short, I would recommend this hotel and certainly revisit the hotel because of its 5-star beauty and 5-star staff, BUT I would only recommend visiting in spring and summer where the cold is less of an issue. I would also recommend a different room location away from the dining area now that I know the set up.
