The hotel itself is nice, the location is beautiful, the scenery is top notch. This review is focused towards the staff of this location. The front desk, the kitchen, the service staff. The hospitality I received from the staff during my stay was beyond any that I have ever received in the countless hotels that I've stayed in this world. The understanding and care speaks volumes to the Dutch people or just the people of this staff. I wish I had the means to show my appreciation to you all with more than kind words. Prima bedden in een ruime kamer. Het ontbijt was zeker heel lekker. Verse broodjes, veel extra’s en goede koffie. Het personeel is heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Ook is het hotel mooi en goed gelegen en bovendien is het een prachtig historisch pand, gelegen naast het museum. Een pluspunt is ook dat je direct in het centrum van Zutphen bent.

We waren er vanwege een cursus ter voorbereiding op een naderend pensioen. Twee nachten in een benauwde hotelkamer. Het is in het hele gebouw (té) warm en benauwd. Enkel het cursuslokaal was aangenaam vanwege airco. De kamer die we in eerste instantie kregen toegewezen stond ons helemaal niet aan. Dit gemeld bij de receptie, waarna we direct een betere kamer kregen op de 2e verdieping. Dus dat was netjes geregeld. De kamers zijn oubollig en gedateerd. In het zwembad zit de dikke roest op de cv radiatoren. En dat geeft allemaal niet, als de prijs er dan ook maar naar is. We betaalden euro 100 voor de extra nacht in de kamer (2 pers.) Genoeg gemopperd; nu de goede dingen. Het ontbijt was de 4 sterren van het hotel waard. En dat geld ook voor de lunch en het diner. Heerlijk gegeten elke keer. En beneden (lounge, restaurant, w.c.'s e.d.) ziet het er piekfijn uit. Maar helaas als je de trap opgaat naar je hotelkamer kom je in een andere wereld. Beslis zelf of je het de gevraagde prijs waard vind. Aan het personeel zal het niet liggen..... .

BREAKFAST I stayed here while cycling on the Ronde Van Nederland. I stayed in a mixture of hotels and this was by far the best on my 8 day cycle challenge. However, I wish to specifically highlight the Breakfast and the Breakfast chef. I requested an early breakfast and the buffet range and quality was outstanding. Breakfast chef was so very friendly and helpful. My only other observation is that I found it very strange that the door to the guest rooms was locked - yes locked until 7am
