Hôtel Parnass Stayed june 14 to 17 LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION (6 STAR) This chalet hotel is convienently located about a 10 minute easy walk from the train station and just a few minutes from the main Bahnhofstrasse where most of the shops and restaurants are located. There is also a free bus that regularly stops directly in front of the hotel. It will quickly take you to the train station, the gornergrat train right next to the main train station and Matterhorn glazier paradise lift. All just a few minutes away. We walked from the paradise lift to the train station/gornergrat train in about 20 minutes as the walk along the little river was so enjoyable. But what is so unique about this hotel is the spectacular views of the Matterhorn from a significant number of balcony rooms. We took advantage of the clear weather that day and easily did the Matterhorn glacier paradise lift in the morning and then did the gornergrat train in the afternoon with a nice lunch at the top. In addition this hotel is very clean with an excellent breakfast that will get you through the morning. We loved the soft boiled eggs and all the breads with a variety of cheeses. And even sitting in the breakfast room we also had such magnificent views of the Matterhorn. We were so fortunate to have picked this lovely hotel in the heart of Zermatt and highly recommend it as your base location. If I could give it 6 stars I would.

This is an ”average” hotel per Zermatt standards. This is not a pejorative statement. Just realistic considering the price of hotels in Zermatt. The location is perfect. Overall we had an excellent stay. Very friendly welcome, nice large room with a clean bathroom a bit small. However, we were supposed to have a mountain view on our reservation and we did not. Breakfast was a buffet style which offer could be improved. We had one dinner at the restaurant and it was good. The waitress Christina was very friendly. Beds were very comfortable. I would recommend this hotel for visitors who want to be well treated and not spend a fortune in 4 stars hotels.

Goao picked us up from the GBB station and pointed out different restaurants that we might like. Walking into the hotel revealed a scent perfect for the senses, and the decor was fabulous. We were greeted by Marco’s smiling face. He was pleasant and full of information. He answered all of our questions and was very attentive to our needs. We mistakenly took the lift down to the basement but was surprised when Martin, the owner of the hotel, greeted us and inquired about our experience. The room was clean, comfortable, and it had a great layout. Balcony views of the mountains on both sides were an added bonus. We enjoyed the daily complimentary breakfast, the selections were awesome, and the staff were nice and pleasant. Between the three gentleman and the breakfast staff, we felt welcomed and appreciated. We will definitely stay here again if we’re able to return to Zermatt. I highly recommend it.

On a quiet side street, in the middle of the town, with easy access to the railway station, shops and restaurants. Our room was spacious and clean, the breakfast very good. From our first floor room we could even see the top of Matterhorn. What surprised me though was the luck of any leaflets advertising attractions and events nearby, but maybe this is not a feature of Swiss travel industry.

Getting a room in Zermatt during the peak winter season is quite challenging without committing to a certain minimum number of room nights. We were fortunate to book a room at Hotel Derby for one night, which fits our tight travel schedule. Several things we loved about this hotel: 1. The location - It is easily accessible on foot and situated along a busy street, only a minute's walk from Zermatt train station. 2. The guest rooms - They are recently renovated and beautifully furnished. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the peak of Matterhorn. Unfortunately, it was too cold in December that we didn't get to enjoy ourselves or stay out for long. 3. The breakfast - A wide selection of continental breakfast and it is included in the room rate. Even though it was a short stay for us, on the whole, the staff is amiable, and we highly recommend it.

Very cozy and clean, the staff checked our covid certificates and immediately accommodated us in our rooms. Breakfast was included in our price, we were asked what we wanted to have (croissant, bread, coffee order and ham/cheese) the previous day. I want to believe it was due to corona restrictions that they did not include these on the breakfast buffet, because one thin slice of bread was not sufficient; although we got a second serving when we asked. The rooms were warm, clean and all in all, a very decent option for the otherwise ”overpriced” Zermatt.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay.
Room was clean, spacious and very comfortable.
Very near the zermatt train station, just opposite of Macdonald’s.
Breakfast had a good selection.
Housekeeping would check in on you and offer free chocolates.
The only feedback I have is the room didn’t provide English instructions on how to dial the concierge so I had to walk down to request for items.

We stayed at the Alpen Resort hotel in July 2023 for two weeks. The room was very spacious, clean and had everything we needed. The view of the Matterhorn from our balcony was fabulous. From start to finish, all of the staff could not do enough for us. Everyone was so friendly, professional and genuinely welcoming. There was plenty of choice at breakfast, with cold and warm options and the four course dinner each evening was delcious. The restaurant staff were always friendly and curteous. After a long day walking or biking in the truly amazing mountains of Zermatt, the spa facilities were a delight. The pool, steam room and outdoor whirlpool were wonderful and always spotlessly clean. We would defintely stay at the Alpen Report hotel again. Zermatt is a truly magical and spectacular place and this hotel is a perfect location to base yourself to enjoy all of its wonders. The location is excellent - close to the station but nicely tucked away in a quiet location but with everything you need close by. We would not stay here again. The 1980s revisited... Pros: Big room, great view mountains (not the Matterhorn), close to train station, huge balcony, parking beneath the hotel. Nice sized bathroom. Breakfast was satisfactory. A good starting point for a trip to Zermatt, if you're not going to stay in Zermatt. There are some great walking paths near this hotel. Cons: Ugly...brown...shag...carpeting. Orange furniture. Worn linens, mattresses and pillows. Traffic noise was a problem because we had to open the windows for ventilation during this warm spell. No ice was available for our room. No in-room refrigerator. Service staff was indifferent. If you are driving and going for a quick trip to Zermatt, I recommend parking your car in Tasch and leave your big luggage in the trunk. Take your carry-on and the train to Zermatt and stay for one (maybe two) nights there to see the sights. Then take the return train to Tasch to retrieve your car. I don't recommend staying in Tasch.

We arrived at about 1pm and were informed that check-in was only at 2pm so we went for lunch and returned at around 2.30pm. We were greeted by Ruth, the proprietress of the hotel, who gave us a comprehensive briefing of the house rules and policies. Ruth was very warm, friendly, and charming; she was very guest-focused and was happy to find out more about where we were from and what we planned to do. Ruth even gave us recommendations for Bern when we told her we were going there next.
Although the hotel is stated to be 4 stars, we were very impressed by the room and the amenities. The bathroom came with a bidet and the toiletries provided were of good quality. The room was also very spacious with enough room to open up 2 luggage bags. The towels and robes were thick, warm, and fluffy.
The breakfast provided in the morning was also quite good with a decent selection of breads, cold cuts, cheese, and eggs.
At checkout, Ruth also gave us a complimentary ride to the train station in her electric vehicle.
All in all, we had a very enjoyable stay at the Matterhornlodge and we were very impressed by Ruth’s hospitality.

However, need to take note that their reception will only be there till 10pm. It’s actually stated but I didn’t read it so when I arrived Zermatt train station at 11pm, I panicked a little. We flag down the taxi at my own cost, 18chf for 3 people and luggages, they dont provide free taxi after 10pm. Also, the entrance door will be closed/locked after 10pm, we rang the bell and the door opened and they left the key with a letter on the counter for the check in.
The breakfast place is also overlooking the Matterhorn and it’s so pretty. Stayed for only 1 night but really enjoyed my stay there!

Way too small in the ski locker room once more than two people were in there trying to get skis and boots. Hot tub and sauna too small for the number of people arriving there after a days skiing all at the same time usually.

PPengguna TetamuMy friends and I visited Zermatt for the first time ever, in October 2023. We took 2 mountain-view rooms and were extremely glad that we did! After we arrived at the Zermatt train station, we decided to walk to the hotel on our own because the weather was beautiful, warm and sunny. Guests can opt for transport by an electric vehicle, which costs CHF15 per person, from the train station directly to the hotel. We arrived at the hotel after 10 minutes, walking to this hotel isn't too difficult, as long as your luggage has wheels. The roads are well-paved, you just need to watch out for cyclists and the electric vehicles speeding around the town. This hotel requires guests to check-in on their website, they send you a link via email, a few days prior to your visit here, so you that you can do a pre check-in even before you arrive. I didn't do that, so I did my check-in on the spot in front of the reception counter and was guided step-by-step by the friendly staff. Our rooms were ready, it was around 1pm. The rooms are very clean, has all the amenities of a 4-star hotel, including bathrobes and bedroom slippers, digital safe, hairdryer, coffee machine and basic toiletries. This hotel has a pillow menu, I went to the front desk to get a memory foam latex pillow for myself because I found the down pillows too soft. The room temperature was very comfortable, the rooms are heated by a central heating system, which is controlled by the hotel staff. There are no individual thermostats in the rooms. Our room balconies had unobstructed views of the Matterhorn mountain, the most recognisable mountain in Europe. This was worth every extra penny that we paid for the mountain-view rooms! IMPORTANT NOTE: Not every hotel room in any hotel in Zermatt has unobstructed views of the Matterhorn. If you are a first-time visitor to Zermatt, I recommend that you spend the extra money and get yourself a mountain-view room. This hotel is located away from the main street of Zermatt town, therefore it is very quiet and serene. At the same time, it is within walking distance to the main street, the GornergratBahn railway station, the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise gondola station, to the Matterhorn Museum, and to several excellent restaurants in Zermatt. You can ask the front desk staff for a walking map of Zermatt when you check into this hotel, I asked Christina for advise and restaurant recommendations, and she was most helpful. She gave me 2 maps of Zermatt, one map shows the tourists attractions and the other shows the restaurants. My friends and I dined at the Spycher restaurant, which is connected to this hotel, they serve AMAZING flambe beef and lamb! Our rooms included complimentary breakfast and it was good but not spectacular. You can have pancakes, omelettes and sunny-side eggs cooked to order. Breakfast is well beyond what I was expecting and had cereals, meats, yoghurts, breads, cheeses, sausages, eggs and probably much more! Plus more really good coffee! Located 5 minutes walk to Bayard ski rental, and an additional 1 minute to the Gornergrat railway taking you up onto the slopes From the hotel, you can be on the train in under 10 minutes. Staff are really helpful and allowed us to keep our bags there on the last day even though we’d checked out. There’s a quick lift to all floors. I would highly recommend the hotel if your plans are to ski all day, go out on an evening and use it as a place to sleep. Would certainly return

Lovely surprise balcony with a sideways view of the town, nice to sit outside to unwind at the end of the long day. Bathroom was rather lacking in character compared to the room and bath tub/screen was quite inconvenient. But basic amenities are there, two sinks + separate WC were appreciated. Breakfast was average, adequate but not great spread. No swimming pool, bare gym, uninspiring suana area for a 4* hotel so manage your expectations accordingly. Location very close to train station (5 mins), off a quiet corner, complimentary luggage shuttle would be nice instead of charging CHF12 for what is literally a 1 minute ride in a buggy.

PPengguna TetamuGreat hotel with great friendly staff. Was here with 40+ people and it was an amazing experience. Wait staff at breakfast and dinners were just wonderful, so friendly. Front desk people were knowledgeable and helpful. Would definitely recommend Albana Real hotel for anyone. Breakfast food was great and we had three meals here, one in each of three different specialities. Location was also very good, but in Zurmatt no location is poor

HHussain RWe stayed in the first floor apartment in this brand new building. The apartment which accommodates six guests, covers the entire first floor. The apartment is surrounded by balconies and a huge terrace directly facing the Matterhorn. Two bedrooms and the kitchen/dining overlook the river. The sound of the river is really seductive! The third bedroom overlooks the terrace and has a huge modern ensuite bathroom. The apartment has been done to an extremely high standard. The kitchen is huge, modern and well equipped. The three bathrooms have been done with modern design and tasteful finishes. There is a washing machine/dryer in the apartment which is extremely convenient. The location of the building is very central with easy access to the train station and all touristic and sports attractions. Many restaurants are within meters away. Our stay was made most comfortable by the constant attentive service provided by Ms. Alessandra who takes extra care and does not spare any effort to make her guests enjoy a memorable vacation. Highly recommended.

PPengguna TetamuBooked the hotel because it's centrally located despite the so-so reviews. Have not stayed in Zermatt before and the hotel replied ”We have reserved a double room with mountain view for you from Tuesday, 31 Mai 2022...” Wait! What mountain view? We checked in late as the drive from Zug was long and tiring. Hotel was easy to find; out the train station to the left and walk about 5-minutes and you see the big hotel sign. The entrance was in the side alley and we had to self check-in with the name list on the door to the room keys. We walked up a dimly lit stairway and fund the room was so tiny we barely had space to move. Yes there was a window. But it opens up NOT to mountain view nor fresh air but to another apartment's front door and landing. Plus the toilet was so tiny one cannot but knock against the taps and shower door. Spartan room but WiFi works. We expected at least a coffee maker or percolator in the room but none. We literally had to stay out of the tiny room except to return for the night to sleep. Breakfast was OK with a small spread. Then when we asked to leave our luggage after checking out instead of leaving behind some area where they are looked after we were asked to just leave them in the 2nd floor common area, which was just outside our room. So much for security and safety. Yes, it's value for money but wished I had taken my second choice hotel further down the road. At least it has a real mountain view. Was looking forward to a first good impression but this hotel really disappointed. But had a great time up Matterhorn with clear views.
