The Griffin Belle

The Griffin Belle is located in a quiet backstreet near the US Embassy in Vauxhall in Southwest London. The nearest Tube is Nine Elms, Vauxhall station is also close by. This pub was built in 1869 and originally called The Builders Arms. For a period of time the pub was known as The Vauxhall Griffin after the heraldic Griffin badge of Vauxhall Motors where the Vauxhall Iron Works was founded close by. The name Griffin Belle came to be in 2018, this pub operates as a 3 star hotel also. This is a one bar pub which has a very unique interior indeed. The bar area wraps around the servery which is clad in bevelled mirrors. The decor consists of a chequered floor, flowery wallpaper, banquettes and chairs around marble tables plus some large Tv’s. I must admit I was quite gobsmacked at the interior, it’s like an American diner meets a cocktail bar but really it’s neither. At the front left of the pub is an awning with seating below where you can admire the beautiful tiled exterior.
