Granbell Hotel, booked 2 king size bed ocean facing rooms and the views did not disappoint! Waking up to the full glass ceiling to floor windows is an awesome experience even better than on a balcony class cruise ship. bathtub is awesome! glass wall design allows full view of ocean while soaking. appreciation: staff services are excellent in situation handling, special mentioned Ms Thurushi and Mr Daham from fromt desk reception, much appreciate their assistance and advise in a sour situation with a local gem dealer. special mention: hotel features a roof top infinity pool and bar, a well equipped gym, sauna and jacuzzi on 10th floor. 26th floor Minori Japanese Restaurant also lend an awesome view to the great sunset over the ocean with delicious food at competitive prices. SPA gives excellent massage, highly recommended! for improvements: 1. room maintenance, checked into a room with 2 lights, TV and toilet sliding door not working or functioning in good state, had to spend time waiting for technician to come repairs. 2. room amenities, provide hand or face towels, only two bath towel in room. other features: breakfast has a good spread, but lacking in variety for long stay guests. elevators can take time to arrive, elevators' doors close too quickly, a safety hazard for elderly or slow moving guests.

Great location, close to a lot of restaurants, cafes, bars, and One Galle Face Mall. The hotel is well kept albeit old. The pool is great. Beautiful and cozy lobby and cafe. The greatest of all is the staff. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Taj Samudra is the perfect home away from home whenever in Colombo. Will definitely stay here again.

Overall experience is good. But there is some areas need improving Since my reservation AI went for take my evening snack. As per mentioned went to Pinklobster outlet. Had to wait to find someone in that outlet. And I went to Reception and informed there is no one and they called. Again I went back and stay around 15min and one of the person cam and inform us there is snack in another location. Pool bar service is perfect In the evening there was no lights in out corridor and evening Wifi not worked in our room informed to reception and they help us to resolve the problem. In the restaurant plates are not in good condition. There is lots of scratch marks on the plate. (Black marks)

Avoid: Misleading Room Categories & Poor Service I booked two ”Superior King Rooms,” but upon arrival, the hotel claimed this category doesn't exist and forced me into basic ”Deluxe” rooms. They continue to advertise these non-existent categories online. As a family with elderly members and children, we were also assigned rooms at opposite ends of the floor, despite our request for proximity. Management was dismissive and blamed the booking platform rather than taking responsibility for their own inventory. Be aware: What you book is not what you will get. I expected 5-star service but received a downgrade and zero accountability. Save your money and look elsewhere.

We recently stayed at Galle Face Hotel, Colombo with my family. Overall, the hotel experience was good, especially the location and service. However, the rooms feel overly traditional and colonial, which does not fully meet modern-day requirements. The heavy wooden furniture and old-fashioned, posh décor may appeal to older patrons who appreciate classic heritage styles, but it may not suit travelers looking for a more contemporary stay. The electrical points and facilities are also quite outdated and not convenient for today’s laptop- and gadget-dependent travelers. I would suggest that the hotel consider modernizing some rooms and amenities, while still preserving a few heritage-style rooms for guests who prefer the traditional experiences.

Simply fantastic. This hotel is spotless. Everything works. It is grand, quiet hotel. Service is superb. The breakfast was fabulous so was room service. Authentic Sri Lankan cuisine was of a superb presentation, quality & taste. Vatlappam was brilliant. I look forward to when I can return, spend more time and try out the restaurants. Keep it up guys!!

Room are clean, and the most standout is that concierges are friendly and professional though a few things should be mentioned. A “queen” or “king” bed is really 2 single beds pushed together with a large sheet that doesn’t tuck into the bottom. Originally I was put in a room next door to where renovation was going on. Workers were installing a room and at 1am, workers were still drilling and nailing bolts next to my room which is not only disruptive to sleep but contrary to logic why they are doing works at such an hour. The helpful concierges put me on another level though this time on third above a level where all the fridges and generators of the hotel are (second floor) which hums and vibrates through the floorboards and walls. The vibration and humming continues throughout the day and into the evening. If you want a quiet room devoid of vibration, avoid the 3rd level.

Not the best experience for staying there. The rooms are very small. They couldn’t find our reservation for one hour (we had two rooms but they found only one) after one hour the problem was solved. After we got hour of worries we go to room to sleep and right the next room was fixing something with crazy noise so after night of flight I couldn’t rest. The respection not answer so I decided to go to them, open door and almost fell down because workers put their staff near our door. (One the photo my room) Not recommended at least you need a good view from swimming pool. Breakfast was bad as well.

Good location in negombo although not much to do In the place itself. Right on the beach and a nice rooftop bar for sunset. Basic rooms. I didn't eat there so not sure about food. For a budget stay, it was worth it.
