Plus points - the location is good and the rooms are a decent size with decent facilities Minus points - the staff friendliness was a bit hit and miss - some where great, some not so helpful. The room service was a bit patchy - one day no towels, another day tea and coffee not replenished. The parking was also not ideal - I booked this hotel because it had hotel parking. I arrived around 10pm and was told the car park was full and I'd have to find somewhere to park myself either on the road outside or search the internet for a car park close by! Not really what I wanted to hear having travelled for around 12 hours - fortunately there was one remaining space fairly close which was a relief. We were lucky for the remainder of our stay that we managed to get a space in the undeground car park. If you do get a space the car park is really good - well lit, modern and easy to park with good room for each parking space. Overall our stay was ok.

Excellent hotel- very clean and accommodating. Added plus- right next to train station so VERY convenient!!! Staff very helpful with directions and breakfast was very nice also. 20 minutes or so walk to old town Graz - which is spectacular !!!

I have been to Austria several times and had nice experiences, but this resort really made this trip special. It has an incredible location with an amazing view over the huge lake. The hotel room was great aswell and it had a very cozy and typical Austrian vibe to it.

The hotel is in a great location, being an easy walk to many tourist attractions. Our superior room was of ample size, but had lots of unused space. The full length windows opened onto a faux balcony which offered views of the clock tower, the nearby square and interesting buildings. The bathroom was small, but serviceable. As a Titanium Discovery member, I was given a nice plate of cakes, a bottle of water and a room upgrade. Staff were friendly and efficient. Pre-stay emails were responded to promptly, questions answered and requests granted. Breakfast was fine with a good selection of cold cuts, bread and bakery items, juices, food warmers with the usual offerings plus eggs to order.

This hotel boasts a practical, prime location close to the old town centre of Graz (and, in our opinon, to some of the best breakfast spots in town, which is not a negligeable benefit). Their employees are not excruciatingly friendly but are nevertheless extremely competent and were even able to accommodate our request for a lower-floor suite. Their bedding is without a doubt the most comfortable that I have ever seen, and the rooms are spacious and imaginatively furnished. All in all, this is a wonderful hotel that I would warmly recommend to anyone who wishes to experience Graz in a quite luxurious light, especially when it comes to the price-performance ratio. There is just one quite peculiar issue that I think should be advertised more prominently: if you are taking a hot shower with the bathroom door open, the fire alarm will go off, and if/when it does, you will have to pay 500€ (as of November 2022) for the unnecessary visit by the fire brigade. I read this in the hotel leaflet, which is available in every room, but I don't think all guests read these booklets (I do, but I adore hotels and love sniffing around every amenity available in the room). Seeing as this was precisely what must have happened to one of the guests in the hotel when we were staying there (elevators were not working, the fire alarm light in the main lobby was blinking and there was a huge fire truck parked in front of the hotel), I think a more public warning would definitely not have gone amiss. Staying in this hotel was an extremely pleasant experience and a wonderful surprise. We didn't get the chance to try out their restaurant Der Steirer, but we did spend quite some time in their café (Kaffe Weitzer) - their warm apple strudel with vanilla sauce is nothing short of exquisite!

Portable fans available at the reception, a very sensible approach to guest comfort. Extra points. But far many points off for the shabbiness of the guest rooms, the common areas. I can not tell dirt that won't shift from dirt that no one has tried to shift, and to stay in a place that seems dirty is as unhappy an experience as to stay in one that truly is dirty : Both make for a dreary evening and morning. And . . . every time I stay -- a visit every few weeks ! -- the place appears worse run-down. Depressing. How much does Domestos cost, after all ? Maybe fresh paint is out of the question, but . . . neaten up the picked-away edges of the signage ? To do so wouldn't break A&O.

The staff at this hotel is very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The rooms are clean and tidy, and the location is not far from the old town area. It's a great choice for staying in Graz! In addition, the breakfast ingredients are carefully selected and worth trying!

Ich habe ein Einzelzimmer gebucht und auch ein solches bekommen! Allerdings habe ich schon mehr als 20 Jahre nicht mehr in so einem winzigen Bett geschlafen, ich dachte dass es das nicht mehr gibt. Das Haus ist seit kurzer Zeit Mitglied der Best Western Gruppe, ist aber standardmäßig noch nicht dort angekommen. Das Haus war ziemlich leer und ich hatte die Hoffnung dass ich aufgrund meines Mitgliedsstatus bei Best Western ein Zimmer mit einem ”normalgroßen” Bett bekomme, aber nein.....Das Rezeptionspersonal war sehr freundlich, aber das kann leider auch nicht über das Zimmer hinwegtrösten. Das Haus ist für Bahnreisende gut gelegen, in unmittelbarer Nähe des Hauptbahnhofs mit Straßenbahnverbindung ins Zentrum. Resumé: Kein Highlight am Grazer Hotelhimmel!

My family and I have been on travel for two months and stayed in 20 hotels. The Mercure Graz City is near the top of the list of our favorite hotels for this trip. From the service at check in through our check out, it was perfect. Great location, nice rooms, good breakfast, and convenient parking made this a ”we need to return to this hotel” event. I want to especially commend and thank Stoyan Yoroanov and Lily Nagy, front office, for their attention to detail and responsiveness.

This hotel is perfect for those arriving by train as right across the road from the main station, probably the closest hotel. Several places to eat and drink if arriving late as I was, though it's a decent walk to all the main sites, prob 1.5 km, but as it's so close to the station there are multiple tram and bus options. Didn't have breakfast there as was 19 EUR which is very expensive for a buffet breakfast. Rooms were nice and modern, although something very weird. My bed was vibrating, the same as you experience when there is music with a heavy bass underneath you. Fortunately there was another single bed in the room so I swapped and all was fine. I still can't explain it :) But would highly recommend if coming by train, especially when there for 24 hrs like I was, but if staying several days you may want to stay somewhere closer to the old town.

This hotel wonderfully echoes Graz’s own character. Contemporary style mixed with a heritage architectural past. Like the dramatic modern paintings that adron white walls; chic sculptures decorating the courtyard, and the red bull influenced F1 artifacts in the lobby LOCATION: Lovely location in the fringes of old town, and easy access to all key points of interest DINE + DRINK: Cool lobby level cafe and bar. Didnt try their restaurant to comment on. ROOM: We stayed in 201, so this review is based on that; The room is more of a mini suite that is fit enough even for long term residence with a Kitchenette, Microwave and a reasonable big refrigerator compared to what you might find in a normal hotel room; VIEW:Sweet view of the streets ; SIZE: Very spacious room; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part to put me to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand in shower; TOILETRIES: Nice spa quality cosmetics by HERBAL TREATS brand FACILITIES: Compact Gym with a basic range of weights and Cardio machines. Small but cool indoor swimming pool SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile and made us feel at home and well taken care of. HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free high-speed Wi-Fi that works well all over the property. Big Plasma TV screen dishing out dozens of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies and a wide variety of entertainment in multiple languages

Leider konnten wir nur drei Tage bleiben, aber diese boten alles was das Herz begehrt. Ein traumhaftes Zimmer mit freistehender Badewanne und Blick auf den See. Ein einzigartiges Frühstück mit frischen selbstgepressten Säften und ein Abendessen welches mindestens einen Michelinstern verdient hätte.

We had a wonderful 3 night stay at the Spa Hotel Erzherzog Johann. Our room was very spacious and nice, as was the bathroom. We also had a nice sized balcony. We didn't realize that we had half board and received dinner each night but we thoroughly enjoyed it as it was plentiful and delicious. The breakfast was also excellent with a very large selection. We seemed to be the only English speakers staying at the hotel in this rather remote area, although most of the staff spoke English and were very nice and helpful. The indoor/outdoor pool was lovely and we took a swim everyday. The only bad experience we had and it was NOT the fault of the hotel, was on the Saturday night we were there, someone had a wedding reception right outside the hotel, which went on, with very loud techno music, until after 3 in the morning. We would highly recommend this spot!

Wir haben hier 4 Tage verbracht und uns sehr gut erholt. Das Hotel und der Wellness Bereich sind sehr schön und sauber. Auch das übrige Hotel so wie die Zimmer sind etwas in die Jahre gekommen aber durchaus bewohnbar und sauber. Die Chefin gibt sich sehr viele Mühe kann aber als Einzelperson in diesem großen Haus nicht überall sein. Das Essen zum Frühstück so wie das Abendessen wird in Büffet Form angeboten. Zum Abendessen bekommt als aller Erstes eine große Terrine Suppe auf die wenn man Pech hat bis zu 15 Minuten warten muss. Einmal fehlen die Suppenteller dann wieder etwas anderes. Das Personal ist heillos überfordert und es fehlt die Führung des Personal am Abend und somit läuft hier alles durcheinander... das Geschirr stappelt sich am Tisch und das jeden der 4 Abende. Man muss schon etwas massiver werden damit es abgeräumt wird. Während dessen das Frühstück unter Führung eines überaus höflichen und fähigen Mannes keine Probleme bereitet außer das leidige Geschirr am Tisch. Das Büffet am Morgen und Abend erinnert ein Kantinenessen. Geschmacklich und optisch ein NO GO. Es wird nicht alles aufgefüllt und oft muss man das nehmen was übrig bleibt. Wir suchten das Gespräch mit der Chefin die das ganze erst mit allem erklären konnte Personal hat Urlaub usw. heute morgen fanden wir auf unserem Tisch einen lapidaren Zettel wo sie sich mit folgenden Worten bei ihren Gästen entschuldigte. Wir entschuldigen uns bei unseren Gästen für den gestrigen schlechten Service aber es war dem schlechten Wetter geschuldet (genauer Wortlaut ist mir leider entfallen.) Eigentlich war die Angelegenheit für mich damit erledigt bis ich beim Packen in unserem Zimmer folgtes Schriftstück fand. Sollte Ihnen als Gast etwas nicht gefallen sie Reklamationen haben melden sie sich während Ihres Aufenthaltes bei uns wir werden versuchen alles zu lösen - Beschwerden nach Ihrem Aufenthalt werden nicht akzeptiert - (Wiedergabe des Textes nicht wörtlich nur inhaltlich von mir wiedergegeben) Als mein Mann dann noch verabschiedet wurde mit den Worten wenn Sie das nächste Mal wieder kommen werde ich für Sie extra ein Schnitzel zubereiten wie es Ihnen schmeckt (wir hatten uns am Vortag über die Konsistenz und Geschmack des sog. Sonntagschnitzel beschwert....musste ich doch etwas Schreiben Fazit : Nur weil man in Schladming ein Kaffehaus ein Gasthaus und ein Hotel besitzt sollte man Kritikfähig und vor allen bodenständig bleiben denn die Konkurrenz schläft nicht - mit diesem Beitrag möchte ich niemanden beleidigen aber ich bin nur mal ein Fan der Wahrheit... vielleicht auch nur meiner Wahrheit

Verkehrsgünstige Lage, 600 m zum Bahnhof, in wenig attraktiver Umgebung. Sehr saubere, modern und nüchtern eingerichtete Zmmer. WLAN im Zimmer ist ungenügend: schwaches Signal und (vermutlich) zu schwacher Switch führen zu nervigen Timeouts bei WLAN-Benutzung. Der Kauf eines einfachen ÖBB-Billets via ÖBB-App erwies sich zeitweise als unmöglich - im Korridor (!) mit Glück doch noch etfolgreich. Seitens Trip wurde (wenn auch erforglos) versucht, das Kundenproblem zu beheben. Eine zusätzliche Schwierigkeit besteht in der permanent nicht-besetzten Rezeption: der Hotelbetreiber glänzt durch Abwesenheit und Nicht-Erreichbarkeit, er entzieht sich eigentlich der Verantwortung dem Gast gegenüber.

5 Sterne bekommt die Lage: herrliches Bergpanorama in unmittelbarer Nähe des Stiftes. Das war es dann aber auch schon mit positiven Eindrücken, der Rest war eine Enttäuschung. Die Zimmer sind minimalistisch/spartanisch - nicht einmal ein leerer Kühlschrank/Minibar hat sich ins Zimmer verirrt. Die Zimmer erinnern eher an ein 1. Klasse-Krankenzimmer als an ein Qualitätshotel. Der Spa mit kleinem Schwimmbad, Sauna und Dampfbad wäre zwar recht schön, wenn er serviciert würde. Kleinstkinder mit Pampers haben meiner Meinung nach nichts im Saunabereich verloren. Den gesamten Nachmittag kommt nicht einmal jemand auf einen Kontrollgang um vielleicht den Boden von Schmutz (Haarbüscheln, .......) zu säubern. Auf meine Anmerkung an die Rezeptionistin, dass dass meiner Meinung nach das Dampfbad nicht optimal eingestellt ist (extrem lange Intervalle zwischen dem Einblasen von Dampf) meinte sie nur: es gibt nur einen Knopf zum Einschalten und Hausmeister sei am Wochenende natürlich sowieso keiner da. Die größte Enttäuschung stellte allerdings das Restaurant dar. Die Gäste werden gebeten an der Rezeption bekannt zu geben, ob sie Abendessen möchten. Das habe ich gemacht. Nachdem ich 15 Minuten am Tisch saß ohne eine Bestellung abgeben zu können, hörte ich wie sich am Nebentisch ein Ehepaar beschwert hat, dass sie schon seit 45 Minuten (ab Bestellung) auf ihr Essen warten würden. Der Kellner meinte darauf. Sorry, I don´t speak German! Ich habe daraufhin das Restaurant verlassen und bin im Ortszentrum Essen gegangen. Ich reise pro Jahr mindestens 150 Tage (international) und kann mich nicht erinnern, wann ich zum letzen Mal ein so schwaches 4-Sterne Hotel angetroffen habe.

Aufgrund der Tatsache, dass manche Flüge entweder recht früh oder recht spät gehen war es doch ratsam sich ein Hotel am Flughafen zu suchen. Dabei war es einem wichtig, dass die Rezeption speziell abends lang offen hat um bei den ersten Müdigkeitserscheinungen nicht beim Eintippen von Codes an nächtlichen Türöffnern zu verzweifeln. Die Zimmer sind zwar klein, aber sehr sauber und (dem Flughafen zugewandt) an die vorbei fahrenden Züge gewöhnt man sich schnell. Die andere Zimmerflucht ist dagegen sehr ruhig. Überrascht hat uns ALEXA; die auf Anhieb funktioniert und (wer noch keine hat) gut zum austesten war. Eine weitere Überraschung war das Frühstück - ab 6h30 - was sehr, sehr reichhaltig war und damit ist dieses Hotel als recht preisgünstig. Zu Fuss erreicht man den Flughafen in 10 bis 13 Min., wobei der Weg größtenteils wettergeschützt ist. Auch vor Sonne!

This hotel is easy to get to and it only 10 mins drive to the airport. There is parking around the hotel and I was charged €8 to park overnight. I didn’t see any options for a hotel bus shuttle and in a previous stay I paid €20 for a taxi to/from the hotel My room was quite big with lots of room. The room looks updated and modern and there was a comfortable king bed, flat screen TV (hardly any English speaking channels) work table, lounge chair and side table to relax in. The room had air conditioning with an old thermostat, you could hear the air conditioning running but even if it was on for a long time I didn’t feel the room getting any cooler. In fact I had to open the window in the evening to cool the room down, I was facing the busy motorway so there was a lot of road noise from the open window. The bathroom was a good size, with room to put toiletries at the sink and a good shower Wifi was available throughout the hotel and worked fine. The hotel does have a fitness room but I didn’t use it. The hotel does have a small mini market at reception that you can buy snacks. There is a bar and restaurant at the hotel I only stayed one night and the restaurant was only doing a buffet dinner at that time. I arrived to eat barely 20 minutes after the restaurant opened, but the food presented looked and tasted as if it had been sitting out for hours. The pork dish was oily, overcooked and chewy, the chips were a mixture of undercooked and overcooked and barely warm, the bread felt and tasted a couple of days old, the pasta was stodgy and the sauce was congealed. The salad, fruit and dessert options were fresh, but the selection was small. For the price of €20 I was disappointed I also had breakfast the next morning, it was €16, and again the food wasn’t that tasty and there was a limited selection Overall this hotel is clean comfortable hotel if you are staying before a flight, and I would stay here again, although I would be eating elsewhere

Modernes, helles sauberes und schön eingerichtetes Doppelzimmer mit großem Balkon. Nettes zuvorkommendes Personal. Guter Begrüßungsgin und schmackhaftes Frühstücksbuffet. Nichts zu beanstanden, gerne wieder.
