Fantastic staff and decent accommodation. Rooms and buffet breakfast were as you’d expect, nothing amazing but still good. The staff were friendly and super helpful. Our hotel manager even offered to drive myself and a friend to the start of the Kepler track so that we could fill our afternoon with a hike. Fast forward 6.5 hours and he also came and picked us up, saving us about 10-15km worth of extra walking along the roadside.

The bed was of good quality and the room overall was well furnished and equipped with everything one would expect in a hotel room. The carpets need replacement, though. This was a nice and pleasant stay.

Why does this motel have such a poor rating? Village theme is a bit dated as was our room but the ladies at reception super helpful and the room was huge and clean. Stayed two nights both very quiet even though we had a group of young people next door. Laundry facilities were very useful. Dinner at Chinese restaurant was delicious. (I would change the restaurant name to reflect the cuisine.) Good value for the price we paid. We would definitely stay again.

Had a room with a view of the lake. Plenty of space, and very clean. Restaurant and bar of the hotel were both enjoyable, and though it was wet when we were here, when the sunshines, the outside area with the views would be ideal. Te Anau is not very big, so you can walk to everything.

Bailiez Cafe & Bar fantastic breakfast, it was delicious. Excellent value for money. Lots of options on the menu. Great location and lovely dinning room area. Nice and relaxed. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend

Booked two nights here to have one before and after our trip to Milford Sound. Welcomed on arrival and directed to our room with parking available outside the door. Room was clean and well appointed. Kettle, cups, plates, small refrigerator. TV. Great view from the balcony/shared landing outside our door that had a small table and a couple of comfortable chairs. We sat here both evenings even the one that was cool and breezy. Laundry facilities on site, very cheap and worked great. Had snacks and beers at the onsite bar/grill, separate from the hotel for charging, but reasonable prices and extremely friendly. Would recommend.

I stayed here for a total of three nights while transiting between the Hump Ridge Track and Stewart Island in late December 2022. I booked the King Suite, a spacious studio apartment of penthouse proportions with sweeping views out across Invercargill and towards the Southland plains in one direction and Bluff in another. With the exception of the luxurious bathroom, the room was somewhat dated, and the circa 1980s shagpile carpet definitely needs replacing. However, it was still quite relaxing and comfortable. The highlight of staying here were the excellent staff and their exemplary level of support and service. I was abruptly woken in the early hours of the morning on my first night due to extremely loud guests in a neighbouring room who appeared to be in the hotel to drink and play in the gaming lounge. When I mentioned this to the staff at reception the next morning they promptly offered to move me to another room, which I accepted. Admittedly the second room was much more tired and worn than the King Suite, but the bed was comfortable, the sheets 5-star and I slept very well on the second night. Not only did they move me but they gave me, completely un-requested on my part, a partial refund to reflect the lower price difference of moving into the second room (the suite I initially stayed in is the most expensive room in the hotel). I greatly appreciated the management and reception's thoughtful responses to my need for a good night's sleep before starting out on the Hump Ridge Track. When I returned about 5 days later, I stayed in the King Suite, that I first been booked into, again. The noisy guests in neighbouring rooms had checked out, and the room was quiet and relaxing, just what I needed after completing the Hump Ridge Track. It is true that this hotel could do with a general refurbishment and renovation, but it represents good value for money with excellent staff, among the best I have met anywhere the world, and probably the friendliest and most helpful I've ever met in a New Zealand hotel. I also stayed, after returning from Stewart Island in early January, at the band new Langlands Hotel which, like the Kelvin Hotel, is also owned by the Invercargill Licensing Trust (ITL). While I thoroughly enjoyed the luxury at the Langlands I equally enjoyed the Kelvin and would happily stay here again.

Ein kleines Apartment mit Privatsphäre mit Parkplatz vor der Tür. Nicht mehr das allerneuste aber sehr gut ausgestattet, vor allem die Küche. Es gab verschiedene Kochutensilien und Kaffee, Tee und Heiße Schokolade. Es ist sehr großzügig gestaltet und man kann sich bequem an einen Tisch setzen oder auch arbeiten, weil das WIfi zuverlässig und stabil ist Man kann Wäsche waschen und trocknen. Das Motel liegt direkt an der Hauptstraße und deshalb ist es doch etwas lauter wenn viel Verkehr ist. Zudem ist es etwas außerhalb des Stadtzentrums. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten sind jedoch fußläufig zu erreichen.

Excellent place to stop between QT and Milford Sound to break up the long return drive. Motel is clean and modern with a kitchenette. King bed was super comfy. Hosts were very friendly and as we were checking in the wife ran ahead to open our room and turn on the heater and electric blanket. A very nice touch as it was getting chilly. Te Anau town center is about a ten minute walk with a Fresh Choice market, restaurants , and pubs. Te Anau Lake is a block or two from the motel. Wake up bright and early for a leisurely drive with plenty of stops to Milford Sound and catch the first cruise at 1045am. Beat all the tour buses there and back to Queenstown.

We accidently booked the wrong day through an app we used, and we called the Bella Vista Motel immediately to let them know and they were beyond helpful and understanding. It was a non-refundable booking, however within minutes the front of house manager was able to sort the booking and said we could use the booking for the date we actually wanted. Really lovely guy and understanding. The room was clean, facilities were hot and honestly for the money I don't think you could get much better. We stayed at a 4 star hotel in QT and it was rubbish compared to this place. The WIFI was super fast, able to watch films between the 3 of us, download, etc. It had something insane like 1TB of data to use, all free of charge. Had a sink, kettle, all the usual stuff and honestly top class. Well done guys, will stay again if we do another great walk!!

Me and my family felt at home 3 bedroom accomadation all amenities incl. Big size Tv, Washing Machine etc...was modern, Top of the line Appliances, New feel and loved the Shower. Rooms decent size loved everything about it would love too get my house done like that. Only downfall was King Size bed was Hard not my comfort overall lovely even the Reception lady.

We stayed in Rm 18 which was like a small house. Very roomy, with two bedrooms and a separate fully-equipped kitchen and lounge. Despite its size, the unit was warm and got the afternoon sun, so we were very comfortable here. The unit seemed to have recently been recarpeted so there was quite a strong new carpet smell. Would be a good place to base a family staying in Invercargill for a few days. It was a ~5 min walk to the Saucy Chef, which was a fantastic restaurant.

We stayed here for two nights recently and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Check in was friendly and fast. The staff kindly acknowledged our prior request for a room on the second floor. Our room 209 was clean, comfortable and quiet. Situated at the rear of the building on a corner meant we heard very little street noise and had plenty of natural light. The location of the Quest is great, right in the centre of town with numerous eating options within easy walking distance. Parking is free and about a 30 second walk from the main door. We couldn’t have asked for better and would definitely stay again.

The proprietors were friendly and helpful. It was a pleasant surprise to receive a complementary room upgrade. The facility overall was good, i.e. convenient, clean, good heating, Sky TV, lots of wheelie bins, and well maintained. Daily room servicing was efficient. The location is a short drive from the CBD, easy to find and tucked away from the traffic and noise. The only minor gripe is banging and scraping noise from a nearby room which sounded like maintenance or similar. It wouldn't have been so annoying if they'd only let us know. We'd stay there again.

We stayed for 1 night, yet could have stayed for days. A very comfortable hotel with welcoming staff available at all times. Not as close to shops as thought, yet hotel across the road the food, plus bakery and some food outlets in walking distance. Full of comforts for a short stay or long.
