Very nice hotel with good amenities. The shower is amazing with different jets. The location is perfect for Kyoto and in a quite neighborhood with lots of restaurants where you can eat special Japanese food for decent prices ☺️

The staff were friendly and helpful. Clean and good facilities as well. There were free beverages at the lobby. Location wise not the most convenient to some of the attractions as i had to walk an average of 10 to 15min to get to the train station.

Papa and mama is very friendly to every visitors. I’m come to Kyoto without any itinerary plans and mama did told me which tourist spots to avoid and which is a must. If you love peace and calm you should definitely stay at here.

I had a great stay at RIHGA Gran Kyoto Hotel. The location is extremely convenient — it’s just a short walk from Kyoto Station, which you can easily reach directly from Kansai International Airport via the Haruka Express. This made traveling with luggage very hassle-free. There are two convenience stores located near the hotel, which is perfect for quick snacks, drinks, or last-minute necessities. There’s also a shopping mall right next to the hotel, making it easy to shop, dine, or relax without having to travel far. For those driving, there are three parking lots nearby, which is very convenient and stress-free. Overall, the hotel offers excellent accessibility, great surrounding facilities, and a comfortable stay. Highly recommended!

The lobby makes a strong first impression with its tasteful, contemporary design—very much in line with what seasoned travelers appreciate after a long journey. Location-wise, the hotel is a solid choice. Being close to the train station and surrounded by local food options made getting around and finding good meals effortless. That said, the 5pm check-in time is noticeably later than usual and can be inconvenient if you arrive early. I passed the time at the restaurant and bar next to the lobby, taking advantage of their Happy Hour, which helped. A nice touch was the self-service luggage storage area—practical and traveler-friendly. I stayed in a corner room. The room itself was fine: clean, functional, and simple, as expected of many Japanese hotels. The view, however, was unremarkable. I also tried the public bath. It was reasonably sized and, thankfully, not too crowded during my visit, making it a relaxing experience. Service was a bit cool at first, though it improved as the stay went on. Overall, I would consider returning, especially when traveling as a couple.

Extremely happy with my stay here, especially in this room. Honestly, I’m not sure why there are bad reviews — unless you’re particularly plus-size and need extra space, this room is completely fine. It actually has way more aesthetic and character than a plain, cookie-cutter hotel room, and the whole atmosphere genuinely added to our stay. We had zero issues opening two 30kg suitcases on the floor, with plenty of room left to move around comfortably. Only minor note: the sink is a little smaller and slightly lower than the usual height, but the bathtub and shower work perfectly, so it didn’t bother us. And the location? Chef’s kiss. Being right next to Kyoto Station means unbeatable access to trains, buses, and sightseeing — one of the biggest reasons we chose this hotel over others. Truly an amazing base for exploring Kyoto!

Reasonable priced hostel during new year eve next to kimono temple. Cleanliness in toilet, bathroom and basin area is acceptable but can be improved. My bed is upper bed and the space is way too narrow to get up there( see photo attached) I saw the lower bed were not fully occupied, it could have arranged another bed actually. The bed cubicle is open on top so you can see the next adjacent bed, there’s a pipe on top on the bed. 4 floors sharing shower rooms located at 2nd floor, kitchen and common area are quite cramped with baggage storage, used towels etc. Alright for a night stay.
