The hotel is nice and the room was clean (except for the long black hair left all over floor in the bathroom). The breakfast is just a sandwich box, there is no coffee (just instant coffee). I would expect better.
The staff is not accommodating and never seems to be in a good mood. I was also asked several times to pre-check online. After the third email reminder, I tried and the system didn’t let me complete it. But you can be sure that when I showed up at the reception that is the first thing they asked. Why don’t you have a QR code?
Also, they charge you for lockers. I have never been in an hotel where luggage storage wasn’t complementary.
The experience could be different if they improve a few things.
5 starts hotel, staff are helpful and welcomed. The location is very good, near the train station, aeon mall and big camera is within 5 mins walkable
distance. The hotel is aged but well maintained. They provide parking at the basement of the hotel. We had a good stay there.
This hotel is surprisingly clean considering its cheap price and convenient location. However, the room is tiny but it’s normal in Japan so I was ok with it. It is located in the heart of the busy district so if you’re a party person, this hotel is perfect for you.
The staff I came came across were all very polite and had welcoming smiles, no matter at the reception desk or the restaurant on 20/F. I enjoyed my stay here, but it felt comparable to the 3 star hotels, just slightly better especially thanks to the fabulous breakfast and location of breakfast…If hotels have half stars, i would think it’s’more of a 3.5 star hotel instead of a 4. I have a few suggestions which the hotel can look into to improve in the future.
3 Things to improve on:
1) I picked this hotel because I read other reviews saying the hotel is connected to a bridge from the Okayama station. This is true but unfortunately there were no signs in the station to guide travellers unlike another hotel like Granvia. Google suggested that I look for the west exit which I did, but I ended up being at the ground level hence had to bring big suitcase all the stairs…then I spotted the bridge and ANA crowne plaza from the street
2) cleanliness can be improved. There’s a UCC drip coffee machine in the room. I don’t drink coffee, and the box for the drip coffee selection was refilled. However I spotted a used capsule on the floor near the wall. The bin was not blocking the view, so the cleaners could’ve easily spotted the rubbish if they had been a little more careful and looked under the table when they have to clear out the rubbish bin anyway.
3) I sent a message to the hotel via TRIP.com. The message wasn’t replied promptly, as in within a few hours. Ultimately it didn’t matter anymore, I arrived at the hotel before somebody managed to reply me. Maybe it’s the system that’s problematic which may have caused a lag? Or staff only look at mails/messages when not too busy at the front desk?
Best location and surrounding of the hotel is very beautiful and peaceful. Service is good although the room is quite small for two single beds. Easy short walk to attractions and parking fee is also reasonable
The hotel is strategically located within the Okayama Station building complex and right above the shopping malls. The bedroom was clean with standard amenities you would expect from Japanese hotels. The entrance might be a little confusing because you have to take an elevator to get to the lobby. They are also very strict about the check-in and out time as well as luggage storage, which is nothing to complain about to just to note.
Had good dinner , dinner last order at 830pm with 2 sets of choices , breakfast start at 630am buffet style, coffee machine out of order, female onsen need to get key from reception counter and use another lift to go up , washing machine is 300 yen and dryer 100yen , able to communicate with simple English. Near to Aeon mall. Okayama JR take East exit
The main draw for me was the rooftop onsen; it’s not fancy but it is classic, which is good enough for me. A simple sauna, outdoor onsen, indoor one, cold plunge bath and a shower area. The room itself was compact but efficient and check in/out process was fairly simple. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the Okayama Shinkansen station so it was quite convenient to travel to other sites like Kurashiki Bikan
The location of the hotel is amazing as,
10min away from the JR station, you can wheel the luggage through Aeon Mall. The service is absolutely amazing and provides different types of amenities in the front desk for you to choose.
Hebat

MMomomomoweimoThe location is superb, very close to the station! Right outside, there's a large supermarket just down a small path. It's also very close to the Bikan Historical Quarter, and there's a popular tonkatsu restaurant nearby that always has a long queue.
The room was small, actually the smallest of the five hotels I booked on this trip.
The shower came with a bathtub, and the drain was a bit clogged.
I left something behind at the hotel, and they kindly helped send it to my next hotel. Many thanks!
CChristineLo910This was my first stay at this hotel. It's conveniently located near the station and an outlet mall, about a 5-10 minute walk away, mostly on flat ground. However, there aren't many convenience stores nearby; the closest option is a supermarket that's open until 11 PM, which is quite handy.
Upon check-in, the front desk informed us that check-in was between 11 AM and 3 PM, but we could already hear vacuuming noises as early as 9:30 AM.
**Room:**
The room was quite cramped, barely allowing enough space to open two 28-inch suitcases. The bathroom had good ventilation and was very clean. The soundproofing, however, could be improved. We could clearly hear people walking or talking in the corridor, and even the cleaning staff when they were on the same floor. The TV remote control was quite dusty, and the reception between the remote and the TV was poor. The air conditioning unit was located above the bed and was reasonably quiet. The hallways had low ceilings and were quite dim.
**Local Area/Activities:**
There are numerous restaurants and a supermarket nearby. The Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter is also accessible with about a 20-minute walk.
**Safety:**
I had some concerns regarding safety. The public bath could be accessed without a card, and the doors to both the men's and women's baths were frequently left open.
**Walkability:**
A supermarket is conveniently located about 5 minutes away on foot. Kurashiki Station is a 5-8 minute walk, and it's easily accessible not only by road but also via a connecting pedestrian bridge, which is very convenient. Ario Kurashiki and Mitsui Outlet Park Kurashiki are both within a 10-minute walk.
**Dining:**
There's a dining area located on the lobby floor, and breakfast can be purchased separately. Snacks and drinks are available for ¥200 each. Additionally, near the front desk, there's a self-service area offering daily essentials and green tea powder.
**Important Notes:**
The large public bath is not a natural hot spring (onsen). The changing room is quite small, with only about 10-12 lockers, 3 vanity stations, and 4 shower stalls. The shower water pressure was a bit low, and the water temperature was inconsistent. The bath itself was also quite shallow. It is open 24 hours. There is one massage chair available for guest use. There's only one elevator, which is not very spacious, leading to longer waiting times. Rooms only have two door hanger options: 'refill towel' or 'please clean,' which must be placed outside the door before 11 AM for service. Self-service laundry and drying facilities are available.
FFerfer8We are a family travelling with 3 kids so we drive a car, and factored in luggage space.
1) Vessel hotel has hands-down one of the best beds ever! We checked and realised it was a Simmons mattress so the beds really offered us deep & restful sleep!! Love this!
2) The carpark was right outside the hotel so it was super convenient not having to walk up & down diff storeys to take things from car. We returned to hotel ard 10pm on 1 night & there were no more parking lots! We’d have to park at a multi-storey building that was 12mins walk away, which wld have been v convenient.
3) The breakfast was yummy. We went in summer & enjoyed the Barazushi (Okayama special during festivals) & the rice was sweet, salty, flavourful, and delicious with prawn, eggs, eel, lotus roots (see pic). Really yummy! Try it
4) Hotel staff were very helpful! We asked for an extra luggage stand so we wldnt need to bend too low & they brought it immediately.
5) There’s a big supermarket just across the road with cheap groceries that we stocked up on for our road trip.
6) If you intend to drive, this is a highly recommend hotel in Kurashiki!! Wld stay here again! It was great!
SSiren500It's hard to describe...
1. The facilities are old. In addition to the two sockets on the table, there is one at the door of the toilet, and the main point is that you forget to take it away. They sell everything under the concept of environmental protection, water is 100, various vending machines, and toothbrushes and toothpaste are taken downstairs.
2. The bathroom bar is definitely cleaner than in China, maybe because it's old. Anyway, the table and bedspread look a bit uncomfortable. I ordered a big bed, and the bedspread made my butt itch after using it for a while
3. It's far away from Okayama, 20 minutes walk, mainly because the road is bumpy all the way there, it's really not friendly to pull a big suitcase. From the hotel to the nearby dining place is basically equivalent to walking back to the station. Even the convenience store is less than 10 minutes away, which is definitely not the distance to buy water in slippers and coats.
4. I spent a long time looking for the name when I checked in, and I met a wave of business meeting guests. Who said Japan is quiet?
If it's a good place, it includes breakfast, and the variety is quite rich. Early in the morning, curry rice, French bread and coffee...
AANDREAS NUR JAHJAVia Inn Okayama was our 6th hotel on this journey, and its location honestly couldn’t have been better. Being directly connected to Okayama Station made everything very convenient — from getting around to grabbing daily necessities. There were even some supermarkets inside the station, which were super handy.
The lobby was on the 5th floor and already set the mood, with an amazing view overlooking the station and the city.
Our room was simple and comfortable, featuring a small double bed, a desk by the window, a chair, an air purifier, and a fairly new TV with YouTube and Netflix access — perfect for relaxing after a long day.
Space was a little tight when we opened our luggage, but it wasn’t a big issue. Even though the bathroom wasn’t very spacious, it still provided enough room to sit comfortably on the toilet, which we appreciated.
The real highlight was the view — an unblocked cityscape right from the room that made both mornings and nights extra special.
Convenient, comfortable, and memorable — Via Inn Okayama was a great stay right in the heart of the city.
TTiffany Ann BooneYou really could not ask for more. The shared space view is exactly the needed wind-down after crazy Kyoto crowds. It is conveniently across the street from the train station and ferries and adjacent to supermarkets, cafes and conbinis. The restaurant at the hotel is also very excellent. Staff are friendly and helpful and the amenities are top shelf. You also get Onsen access as a guest. It was a bit dark and stuffy in the cabin but if you are in a proper room there should be no issues. Have fun exploring Uno and the islands!
YYiweiyihang0115This hotel exceeded our expectations. Traveling with our 8-year-old daughter, we were provided with a triple room. Its location is exceptionally convenient, with a dedicated walkway connecting directly to Okayama Station. The room itself was very spacious. We would have loved to try the breakfast, but as we had an early train to Takamatsu the next morning, we couldn't book it. From the smooth check-in process, it was clear this was a well-established, high-star hotel that truly prides itself on its standards.
GGuest UserThis was my first time in Okayama, and I chose this hotel. They offer free breakfast and dinner. The breakfast is a buffet with both Western and Japanese options, so you can choose what you like. For dinner, there are two choices: a rotating daily set meal or a fixed curry rice dish.
The public bath is a bit small, but it's fine for about four or five people.
The hotel is about an eight-minute walk from Okayama Station. There's a Don Quijote along the way, and plenty of restaurants and izakayas nearby, so there are lots of dining options. Convenience stores are also very close.
The room I stayed in this time was quite spacious, even with my luggage open, there was still plenty of room.
I would definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit to Okayama.
The only thing to be aware of is that there are about five or six steps right after you enter, which can be a bit challenging if you have heavy luggage. Otherwise, everything else was excellent.
Rrosemary0813Location: Excellent! It's super convenient – just exit the west gate of the train station, cross the road, and go through a passage. There are tons of food options nearby; a bustling snack street is right across the road. Shopping is incredibly convenient too, not to mention the mall attached to the station itself. You've got Matsumoto Kiyoshi downstairs, Don Quijote across the street, and Takashimaya.
Facilities: The onsen (hot springs) alternate between male and female baths daily. One bath has an outdoor pool, while the other doesn't, but overall, the experience is still great.
Service: Each day, you get a complimentary drink or alcoholic beverage at the front desk.
