Taiwan Taxi App

One of the things I really appreciate about traveling in Taiwan is how easy it is to get around.

Public transit is excellent, but there are moments when hopping into a rideshare just makes more sense, especially late at night, in the rain, or when you’re juggling luggage to get to your hotel.

That’s where a good Taiwan taxi app for foreigners comes in.

Why Use a Rideshare App in Taiwan?

Taiwan Taxi

If you don’t speak Mandarin, taxi apps take almost all the stress out of the experience.

You don’t need to explain directions, hail a cab, or worry about misunderstandings.

You simply pin your pickup point, set your destination, and let the app handle the rest.

Most apps offer upfront fare estimates, GPS tracking, and cashless payment options, making them perfect for visitors.

The Howard Plaza Hotel has an excellent location, very close to Daan Forest Park and Zhongxiao Fuxing MRT Station. The surrounding area has a full range of amenities and is very safe. The staff are attentive and friendly. As an older hotel, the facilities are a bit dated, and the room decor has a classic, slightly old-fashioned feel, but all of this is perfectly acceptable. The only downside was that the room number sign on my floor (I think it was the 6th floor, facing Ren'ai Road) seemed to be incorrect, directing me in the wrong direction from the elevator. I walked all the way to the end of the hall and couldn't find my room, so I had to turn back and eventually found it in the opposite direction. It was a bit frustrating. I hope they can fix that sign.

We recently stayed at the Dinosaur Kingdom Family Room and transferred to a Premier Twin Room the following day. Overall, we had a wonderful stay. The staff were consistently kind, helpful, and accommodating, which we truly appreciated. We especially enjoyed the family room—it was thoughtfully designed and perfect for traveling with a young child. I had initially planned for a two-night stay in this room, but unfortunately, renovations were scheduled to begin the following day. This was a bit disappointing, as it made our time there feel quite short, especially with other activities already planned during our trip. In comparison to other five-star hotels we’ve stayed in, I did find the lack of flexibility with early check-in a bit surprising, particularly for the themed room. We had hoped to settle in earlier, and similarly, the following day’s transfer to the Premier room was not available early as it was fully booked. While this was different from what I’m used to, I do understand that this may be part of their standard protocol. On a positive note, we loved the buffet, and the rooms were very comfortable. The complimentary drinks were a nice touch, and the playroom area was excellent—clearly designed with families in mind. It was also lovely to see the hotel organizing activities for children. During our stay, there was a special event (like a children’s appreciation day?), where me and my baby were able to participate in arts and crafts and even received small prizes, which made the experience extra memorable. The swimming pool was decent, though not very large, and the water was quite cold, so we ended up enjoying the bathtub instead. One area for improvement would be cleanliness. We noticed visible dust in the room, which was concerning—especially since the room is designed for small children, and for someone like me who is diagnosed with allergies to multiple types of dust mites. I did raise this with Lara at the lobby, who kindly apologized and mentioned she would inform housekeeping. However, upon transferring rooms the next day, I still noticed dust in certain areas, which made me question the thoroughness of the cleaning. Separately, I also observed that some toiletries (such as conditioner and lotion) were nearly empty upon arrival, suggesting they may not have been checked or replenished prior to our stay. Despite these points, we genuinely had a pleasant experience overall and would consider returning. I’m also excited and curious to see what the next theme for the family rooms will be after the renovations.

This was a pleasant stay. We were traveling with a child, and I had specifically requested a high floor in my Ctrip booking notes. To my surprise, the hotel really paid attention to it! The hotel has 30 floors in total, and they put us on the 29th floor, which was absolutely perfect with fantastic views. **Cleanliness:** The room had a separate wet and dry area, and the toilet was smart and very clean. **Transportation:** The hotel is located right above Wanhua Railway Station. You just turn a corner from the ticketing hall of Wanhua Station and you're there. It's also only a 5-minute walk to Longshan Temple MRT Station. **Local Food:** Around Longshan Temple MRT Station, there's an Oyster Vermicelli shop (diagonally opposite the 50 Lan milk tea shop) that you absolutely *must* try. The flavor is great and it's generously portioned. I dare say you won't find a better oyster vermicelli in all of Taiwan. Remember, next to the oyster vermicelli shop, there's a place selling grilled sausages – grab one of those too. Vermicelli + grilled sausage = a perfect combination! There's also a night market in Longshan Temple in the evenings.

The hotel is located near to the Zhongxiao Dunhua station (exit 3) and walking distance from Ming Yao Department Store, Taipei Dome, Songshan Cultural and Creative Park and National Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall. There are also many convenience stores within the vicinity and famous donut stores nearby. During our stay, we travelled by foot from the hotel to Pokemon Center Taipei, Taipei 101 and even to Linjiang Night Market.  The room is spacious. There are bathtub and shower in our room, but due to the law in Taiwan, please prepare your own toothbrush and toothpaste. There are also luggage weighing machine and coin-laundry machines in a small room on the floor where they serve breakfast. While not to expect a widespread of choices, I think their breakfast selection is a decent combination of local dishes and western options. Special mention that their pineapples are very sweet! If you are interested, you may also check out over the counter on the selection of local products that can be ordered and delivered to the hotel. It may save you trouble to locate some of the famous brands in Taipei. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Green World Zhongxiao.

The hotel boasts an elegant and grand ambiance. The staff at reception were professional and warm. While the facilities show their age a bit, it's still well worth a stay. However, I wouldn't recommend the rooms in the Qilin Wing (rear building) as mine was right by the road with cars parked outside the window.

A genuine and detailed review based on my recent stay. The mattress feels as if it has a latex overlay. It felt slightly stiff and uncomfortable when I first laid down, though my overall sleep quality was still acceptable. I am curious whether this mattress type is only used in rooms 547 and 548, or if this is the standard bedding setup across the entire hotel. The front desk and concierge service were excellent and flexible. We were originally assigned rooms on the 10th floor, which would have offered great city views. After making a last-minute additional booking and requesting adjacent rooms, the team kindly rearranged our stay to two end rooms on the 5th floor. Although there was no view, the arrangement was perfectly fine for our group. Some hotel policies feel less aligned with international luxury standards. Breakfast service ends promptly at 10:00 AM, which is quite early, and the standard check-out time is 11:00 AM. That said, the hotel was accommodating and allowed us a complimentary late check-out until noon upon request. We had an unpleasant experience with one breakfast staff member. We booked two rooms in total: one with breakfast included and one without. Our friend from the non-breakfast room came downstairs after 10 AM, by which time the buffet had already been fully cleared with no food left at all. Despite there being nothing available to take, the staff assumed we were trying to sneak in complimentary food and asked us to sign a charge slip. This unfair presumption that we were trying to gain petty advantages made our group feel very uncomfortable. The gym and sauna area are always extremely crowded. Unlike typical luxury hotels, these facilities are open to external members as well as in-house guests, resulting in heavy traffic at all times. On the positive side, the rooftop swimming pool is well-maintained and very pleasant to use. The room design is stylish and modern. The minibar is generously laid out and visually gives the impression of being complimentary, though guests should note that items are actually chargeable. The shower pressure is strong and excellent, offering a great bathing experience. Final Verdict The Regent Taipei is absolutely worth booking if the rate is under HK$2000. However, for any rate above HK$2000, it is far better to upgrade to the Mandarin Oriental Taipei for a HKD few hundred dollars extra — the service and overall standard truly match its premium luxury ranking.

Decent hotel for budget travelers who prefer to be out all day rather than indulge in amenities. The concierge on Basement 1 has a selection of free snacks (crackers, biscuits etc.) and cup noodles you can just swipe for the day's itinerary. Daily breakfast offers congee, rice, and about 3-4 entrees, and a coffee machine (espresso or americano). The deluxe triple room we booked was spacious as was the bathroom. Room details were average and new-ish. The heavy curtains concealed old steel windows. Beddings and towels were changed every other day or so but could be also changed upon request. Staff was helpful and could communicate well in English.  We appreciated its nearness to multiple 7-11s, Watsons, and bakeries. The Peace Park, National Taiwan Museum, and MRT station (NTU Hospital) were just a block away.

Close to Ximen Station, just a 2-minute walk from exits X5/X6, which is super convenient! 👍 However, the bathroom drainage wasn't great; after three people showered, the water overflowed. 👎 The mattress was comfortable with no sagging, 👍 and the hotel also provides free instant noodles, sandwiches, and drinks. 👍 The water pressure was excellent, which is a big plus! 👍 But the pipes were very noisy; you could clearly hear them from rooms above, below, and next to us. 👎 Since it's designed in an industrial style, the ceiling has many holes, and when lying down, I noticed a lot of dust looking up. You just have to accept it…

The Z8 exit, which connects directly to the subway station, is right in front of the hotel entrance. However, there are no escalators, making it incredibly difficult to carry heavy, large suitcases up. It's actually more convenient to use the escalator at the K12 exit in the opposite K section and then cross the street. The room I stayed in this time had a great view and was a good size, not too small. However, the refrigerator wasn't cooling at all, so it wasn't suitable for keeping water, beer, or other drinks cold. It probably needs repair or replacement. The hotel is within walking distance of Ximending and conveniently located for using Taipei Main Station. The Airport MRT station is also close by. Overall, the facilities are clean. As for amenities, only basic toiletries are provided, so you'll need to bring your own personal hygiene items. Room cleaning needs to be requested by filling out a form and submitting it a day in advance. You can pick up complimentary bottled water from the 4th-floor lobby. Towel changes and trash removal can be requested on the same day. Usually, if you inform them before you head out, they'll take care of it while you're gone.

We stayed for 3 nights with 2 adults and 1 toddler, including breakfast. Pros: Excellent location: Direct access from Exit Z8 of Taipei Main Station's underground shopping mall. All hotel facilities are on the 4th floor, except for the breakfast area: a play area for toddlers, a dedicated play zone for children, and complimentary snacks from 2 PM to 4 PM (redeemable with room key). Bottled water is available for self-service all day. Reasonable room size: Plenty of space to move around even after unpacking. Responsive staff: Provided reasonable assistance promptly. Breakfast on the 37th floor: Tables are well-spaced, offering great views. Some dishes vary daily, including tea eggs and ********* sausages with chicken drumsticks. Areas for improvement: Exit Z8 is convenient but has no elevator. You'd need to go out one block earlier for elevator access. To get from the room to breakfast on the 37th floor, you need to change elevators. The hotel doesn't proactively clean the room, but you can request trash disposal and towel changes.

The staff were incredibly welcoming. As soon as I entered the room, I could feel the hotel's thoughtful and cozy decor. The private hot spring bath was huge and even had a cold spring water pool, which was perfect for a refreshing rinse after a soak. The mini-bar in the room had a great variety of drinks. In the afternoon, they delivered complimentary fruit and snacks, and in the evening, there was even plum wine for a nightcap – absolutely fantastic! As per other reviews, the location is perfect. It is linked to the Taipei Main station. The hotel can be accessed through the basement via exit M6 (staircase but sheltered) and M8 (escalator, but need to cross the road). The downside of the room is the aircon faces and blows directly on the face when laying on the bed. It can be disturbing when sleeping. Very good hotel in a very good location however the room smelt like mould. I was certainly it was coming from the air-conditioning as the second room that we got on our second stay do not smell the same. It was a special occasion however we had not gotten any special amenities despite at least three confirmation emails sent in advance. we had also checked in at 5 pm which as well beyond the check-in time however the room was not ready and check into around 20 minutes. Overall, the stay was satisfying. The room quality, cleanliness, service attitude, and the delicate Japanese hospitality all demonstrated the standard expected of a five-star hotel. The only minor letdown was the somewhat underwhelming food selection in the executive lounge. During my stay, it was largely the same few dishes, lacking variety. The quality and sophistication didn't quite reflect the value expected of an executive floor, and it felt a bit perfunctory, missing any standout highlights. As an executive lounge in a five-star hotel, I believe that an improvement in dish rotation, ingredient quality, and plating details would enhance the guest experience and better meet guests' expectations for an executive lounge. Overall, it's still a quality hotel worth revisiting, and I look forward to seeing further improvements in the executive lounge in the future.

This was my first stay at a Mandarin Oriental hotel, and it was in Taipei. Even though the hotel has been open for many years, it's still one of Taipei's top-tier luxury hotels, and the price isn't even that high. The Capella across the street is almost twice the price, so the Mandarin Oriental definitely offers better value for money. Their breakfast also blows the Grand Hyatt's out of the water, even though the Grand Hyatt claims to have the best food. The ambiance here is also excellent, and while the service is good, it's not top-notch. I once said ”sorry” after not quite catching something over the phone, and I got yelled at... Also, the hotel fan needs to be purchased at the gift shop, as does the teddy bear. They did send a bookmark to my room once, but it was to the wrong room, so they resent it. The lady in the white uniform at the front desk was exceptionally kind and beautiful. There was another lady in a black uniform who kept speaking English to me even after I started speaking Mandarin. I thought she didn't know Mandarin, but then she switched to Mandarin when I didn't understand her.

Let's start with the positives: The doorman, lobby manager, and front desk staff were all very professional, living up to the reputation of a renowned international hotel. The room was spacious, bright, and clean. Now for the negatives: It lacks grandeur. The lobby entrance is too narrow, making it feel like a busy market when crowded. The facilities are mediocre. The bidet toilet was installed too high; even at 172cm, my feet couldn't touch the ground when seated. The TV was incredibly small, disproportionate to the room size. The most frustrating issue was the poor soundproofing. The guests next door in room 1225 were speaking English, and perhaps they couldn't control their volume, but I could hear their conversations clearly, which was very loud and disturbing. This was extremely disappointing. Due to construction, the Ferris wheel was almost completely obscured. This isn't the hotel's fault, but rather an objective circumstance.

You can still walk along back alley to witness the majestic night view of the city.

After checking out and heading to the airport for a late-night flight, I realized upon arriving at the airport that I had accidentally left my passport inside the safety deposit box in my room at Hotel Éclat Taipei. I immediately called the hotel and the staff responded right away by checking the safe and confirmed that my passport had been found. The team was incredibly responsive and worked hard to arrange a way to get the passport to me before my flight. While they were trying to coordinate the delivery, the hotel's General Manager, Ms. Amy Yu, personally stepped in to help. She even came to the airport herself and, despite the urgency of the situation, when I asked how I should pay her back in return, she calmly reassured me not to worry about that at the moment and instead asked me to focus on getting through immigration and making my flight on time. I was deeply touched by her kindness, professionalism, and genuine care. She showed a level of empathy and dedication that is increasingly rare in today's hospitality industry. The staff and management did not have to go to such lengths to help me, but they did, and thanks to them I was able to retrieve my passport and continue my journey without disaster. Beyond this unforgettable experience, the hotel itself is fantastic. The property has a unique artistic character, beautifully combining art, design, and luxury. It has a warm, creative atmosphere that makes it stand out from many other high-end hotels. Most importantly, it has something that cannot be easily taught or bought. The human touch, attentiveness, and genuine hospitality of the people here made all the difference. Having stayed at several hotels in Taiwan, I can honestly say that Hotel Éclat Taipei stands out for its responsiveness and sincere care for its guests. My heartfelt thanks to Amy Yu and the entire team. I would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Taipei.

I personally feel that this hotel is in a very 'local' area. How do I put it? It feels like living alongside ********* people, surrounded by their daily lives. The night market is 'right next door,' and the entire street downstairs is filled with everyday shops, markets, and food stalls that cater to locals. It's a bit far from Taipei Main Station (over 1km), but about a 10-minute walk to Shuanglian MRT Station. The hotel staff are all great – from the front desk gentlemen and office ladies to the cleaning staff and canteen employees, everyone is polite and has a good attitude. The breakfast was delicious.
