Arrived late just after Midnight, no one around, had to wander around shouting for someone, so we could check in. Eventually we found people setting up a meeting room. Room was clean although a little tired looking. No shower gel. The room was on the main walk way and joined the stairs, so very noisy in the morning. Also at 9am, cleaner knocked and tried to access room, fortunately we had locked the door. Breakfast was good, although the hot food was dry and overcooked. Internet speed was OK and TV needs updating.

The Sunley Hotel is located in Northampton University campus. Parking is convenient ion Car Park 3. When I stayed there it was during the heat wave so some areas were very warm. The bedroom came with a fan which made the room tolerable. The room is very modern and comfortable. PLeanty of power outlets and tea making facilities. Room was not too small either. Breakfast was in the dining hall opposite and was quite good. The location is very close tpo the centre of Northampton and I was able to walk to work along the river. Very pleasant. UoN Campus is very modern and pleasant.

The travel lodge at Wooton was on the outskirts of the town near the m1 motorway The decor is very run down a side door with broken glass and a ****y path greets you on your approach from the car park. The room was comfortable the bed very comfortable. Shower was fine coffee tea avaliable in room. We arrived at 2.00am but not a problem as a lovely girl called Monique I believe sorted us out on arrival letting us use her mobile phone as we had a problem to sort out. Her warm welcome was very much appreciated I asked for an ironing board and iron in the morning again no problem from another female member of staff. Stayed two nights and again was helped by the male receptionist to order a taxi which to Luton Airport had to be booked over the phone this gentleman made the call through his phone. The Toby restaurant annexed to the hotel was also in need of decor refresh bathrooms particularly bad smell. Only instant coffee available with water from an old boiler type of thing really out dated. Should be made clearer that you have to order from the bar section and pay in advance before going to get your breakfast.!!! Overall OK for the money staff excellent let down by the decor and in need of a cleaning modern upgrade. Location would require a car as about 5 miles from northampton Town centre

Room 306 was terrible, there is definitely a plumbing issue in this hotel as there was an awful smell coming out of the sink every time you used the tap or your neighbour used theirs. We found food at the back of the mattress that was already covered in hairs and grime. We didn’t even touch the sofa bed as it was covered in dodgy white stains and covered in crumbs/more food. We felt so uncomfortable that we went to go and ask reception if we can move room. The member of staff we spoke to replied with “oh sh*t” when we explained it we didn’t feel this was professional however they were friendly and we were pleased that they did provide us with a new room. However room 304 was also terrible. Again, the smell from the bathroom was still present and the room still felt very dirty. Also, only one lift was in use which kept going into the basement which was staff only. Everytime we accidentally ended up there the staff looked really annoyed at us. The only way to deal with this was to press the ground floor button every time the -1 (basement) button illuminated. This probably also annoyed the members of staff as much as it annoyed us.

Hospitality is a hard, hard industry. Even when you’re great, it’s easy to fail. One of the shining lights in the restaurant sector within Northamptonshire over the last 12 months is The French Partridge Hotel in Horton. I’ve been here several times and every time it’s been exceptional from a venue, customer service and food quality perspective. Honestly, the best Sunday roasts (they start making their gravy on a Monday!) I’ve ever had. The only shame is - it seems to be half empty each time I’ve been as few know about it. If you ever find yourselves thinking of somewhere new to try - come here! You won’t be disappointed. We don’t have many nice things in Northampton, so it would be a shame to lose it 💯👌👍
