Complaint Regarding Unprofessional Treatment at Reception Dear ClinkNOORD Hostel Management, I am writing to formally complain about an incident that occurred during my stay at your hostel from the 26th to the 29th of September. Unfortunately, I experienced extremely disrespectful treatment from the night receptionist on the 30th of September, around 5:00 AM. After my check-out period had ended, I returned to the hostel to retrieve my belongings, which I had left for a fee of 10 euros. I informed the receptionist that I would be leaving in the morning, as my luggage storage time had expired. While waiting in the common area, I accidentally fell asleep for a short time due to feeling unwell. Despite my situation, the receptionist suddenly woke me and insisted that I leave the hostel immediately. I politely explained the circumstances, but he became visibly angry and behaved in an unprofessional and rude manner. At no point did I behave inappropriately, and I believe this treatment was unjustified. I am very disappointed with this experience, as it reflects poorly on the hostel's standard of customer service. I hope you will address this matter and ensure that future guests do not encounter similar issues. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response. Sincerely,

Perfect for sleeping and storing the luggage, which is exactly what we needed! Nice and helpful staff. The atmosphere was cozy and the place felt clean. Slight downside is how warm the room got in the night. We also got the absolutely smallest room which was fine with us but beware it’s cramped. But I’m definitely staying here next time I’m in Amsterdam.

Where to begin? This is a hostel, so you are sharing with 10 other people. Think long and hard about that before you book. Do you snore or make other nocturnal noises that will keep others awake? Maybe look elsewhere. I mention this because yesterday I checked in this hostel hoping to spend the night. It's got great friendly staff. On the whole it's clean and tidy. Result for a cheap night. Went off out in the evening, found something to eat. It was all going well. Then it was time to sleep. I'll be honest the weather is warm, so the room was warm, not a deal breaker at this price range. I was on my bed by 10 and ready to sleep, a few members of the room already in bed, one snoring. At midnight after everyone else came in, did their thing I had to get out of bed to turn off the lights for them. It was after this with some dark it becomes apparent that the snoring wasn't going to stop. Eventually I got up maybe half two. Went to the reception, got a beer. I was asked if everything was ok. I explained about the snoring, and was shown the TV room by the receptionist. I was overjoyed. A quiet and cool room to rest. I finally found some sleep in the TV room. So I'd imagine if the folk you're sharing with aren't snorers this could be a perfect way to see some of Amsterdam. Once again big thanks to the receptionist team. Really appreciate your help and thoughtfulness.

The service was spotless. At check in I paid the City Tax and I was checked in online then just some formalities. I like the room. I have a bed and I have no idea who am I sleeping with. I do not talk a lot except if I snore or while sleep.

I couldn't be more pleased with this hostel! I highly recommend it. The hostel, including bathrooms and showers, was very clean. The beds were super cozy and comfortable and offered some privacy. Staff was super sweet and helpful. Bonus points that the lobby always smelled like toast or freshly baked cookies! Also, the bike rental service was fantastic. One suggestion for improvement is that it would have been nice to have some wall hangers in the room. Since there were none, people resorted to hanging stuff from the bed ladders or just putting it on the floor.

When looking at The Flying Pig from the outside, you see a small door and a sign. But on the other side of that door is what feels like an entire block of dorms right in the centre of Amsterdam. The atmosphere is laid back and welcoming, the people are chill and the reception bar has fantastic deals during happy hours. Down the street you can find anything from **** shops to fine dining. My 76 y/o father has been staying at the Flying Pig when in Amsterdam since it opened, and I now understand why he was so keen to show me. It's a really unique place that truly feels like Amsterdam. Their staff was amazing in helping to plan our stay as well as I got injured and ended up in a wheelchair/crutches combo one week prior to our trip. The building has a lot of stairs and narrow hallways, but the staff gave great information and made sure I got a bottom bunk and was as comfortable as possible. We'll be back!

Is smaller then i expected, but it served the purpose, the bed is comfortable with warm blanket. And have a nice location

Overall I enjoyed my stay here. The location was great and within walking distance of Amsterdam Centraal plus much more. The bar was a good vibe, reasonable drink prices, lovely staff and really nice food. My room had some stairs which was a little tricky for me to navigate with my luggage as a solo traveller and my room also didn’t have curtains on the bunk beds for privacy, whereas I know other rooms had this.

Alkmaar is a fantastic city with many historical and cultural high spots as well as a great football team. This is a central very well run hostel well worth visiting, I stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed excellent breakfasts and fine nights sleep

If you are looking for a very easy access bar and good time then this place can be great for you. As for the night it is a bit loud due to there being a bar below with activities. The beds/room were everything you would expect from a hostel, the experience will vary depending on the guests there with you.

Stayed at the amazing Via Amsterdam recently. First impressions were great a lady helped us massively before arrival answering all our queries in reservations and was very helpful with tips of places to visit and getting tickets etc even very helpful travel tips from the airport. We came to check in and loved the place it’s about a 10 minute walk from the local station could be done quicker once you know the route. The whole reception lay out is huge, lots of seating, games area, even it’s own cinema area. We had a very nice gentleman on check in called Bart who was lovely, he helped us with directions, booking breakfast and dining tips. We dined in the Bar called the dude and had a couple of drinks. Bar is quite expensive but nice vibe only fault we found was a very limited restaurant menu choice, we did eat the burgers (no other choice) and they are recommended but you don’t want to eat the same thing every night. Rooms are spacious but quite sparse could do with a table and a couple of chairs to be fair so you can sit and chat. Very clean and comfy beds. Showers only and a bit small but offer free shampoo and shower gel, no towels so bring your own. Breakfast was a bit of a poor show and could do with improvements. For the amount you pay it’s not worth it. You could go into Amsterdam and buy something better for cheaper. We had seen online people complaining about not being central but honestly it’s no issue there is a metro within walking distance and takes you directly into Amsterdam central in about 15 minutes and run regularly. Overall had an fantastic stay and would highly recommend to anyone. You cannot fault the place. I did have a nightmare after checkout tho and was my only complaint as I was overcharged and tried for nearly a month to get a refund from the manager jonannes who wouldn’t speak to me because apparently he was too busy (not the best customer service from a manager) I tried calling and emailing but he just wouldn’t reply or sort the problem and other poor staff tried to make excuses for it not being sorted sooner, it was eventually sorted by someone else but after such a good stay it did leave me feeling slightly disappointed. Hopefully he has improved his customer service by now as this does not reflect on how good this place actually is.

Pros : clean, great common space, nice big kitchen, locker is big and easy to use, love the cube compartements (bed). Cons : you hear the beat from the ****** or pub at night (put earplugs ) and no security so technicaly, anyone can come in your room (make sure to leave everything in locker) Neutral : Hostel is in Zaandam, not Amsterdam, but a 20 min train ride. Not a problem at all since public transit in this country is 10/10 Had a nice time chatting with some people, I would recommend !

C'est dans le centre de Zaandan, en même temps le centre est tout petit, et à 15 minutes de la gare. Il y a une place avec plusieurs commerces au bout de la rue, essentiellement des bars et des restos. Et sinon il y a la rue commerçante qui remonte vers la gare si on veut prendre un petit déjeuner ou du pain. Les chambres étaient plutôt bien organisées la salle de bain était bien équipée les lits étaient confortables, le linge était propre. Comme souvent dans les dortoirs il fait très chaud la nuit, on a laissé toutes les fenêtres ouvertes et la rue était vraiment calme pour dormir. Le check out est tard c'est top. Très bon accueil du gérant, il est très serviable et il fait en sorte que le séjour se passe bien. Il n'y a pas d'espace ou salon pour se reposer avec des canapés par exemple, il n'y a pas non plus de salle pour manger alors que pourtant il y a une petite cuisine. Donc manger sur son lit c'est vraiment pas génial et du coup financièrement ça veut dire qu'il faut être les trois repas dehors. Pas de casier pour ranger les affaires ou de consignes pour les laisser en attendant le train.
