Menakjubkan
PPengguna TetamuI come to Tokyo several times a year, staying a fortnight or more each time. This time I spent seven nights at The Capitol Hotel Tokyu. The room faced Hie Shrine. Through the floor-to-ceiling windows I could see the shrine's copper roof and half of Tokyo's skyline. The décor was modern without excess; the layout flowed easily, Bose speakers hidden in the walls, another set in the bathroom ceiling, connected by a 3.5mm jack. The curtains were motorized, though you hardly needed to close them. The turndown service. I would leave in the evening and return late to find the room changed: only the hallway light and bedside lamp left on, a bottle of water and a glass on the nightstand, two chocolates beside them. The evening tea and teacup, previously stored in the cabinet, had been moved next to the coffee machine. These changes were so slight you had to think back carefully to confirm they had happened at all. The temperature and humidity had been adjusted. As if the room itself remembered your habits. Room service fell short of the ryokan in Hakone or Lake Toya, but well above the ordinary hotel. Each day I made two or three cups of complimentary coffee, played music, read, wrote. In seven days I finished three books. The research ahead began to take shape. There were drawbacks. No washing machine, but a decent laundromat ten minutes' walk away—a chance to wander the streets of Akasaka. The room provided HDMI and ethernet ports but no cables; for those who came to rest, perhaps a mercy. The minibar fridge was mostly occupied by drinks for purchase, same as the Imperial, though there was still room for my sparkling water. The day I left it was half past five and fully dark. I could barely make out the faces of the bellhop and the taxi driver. Together they loaded my luggage into the boot. I wished the bellhop a happy new year in Japanese and told her I liked her hat. She smiled and returned the greeting. As the taxi pulled out of the underground drive, I thought of the inns Kawabata once wrote about: what had to be sought in the mountains of snow country can now be reached by elevator from the B2 exit of a metro station. I have watched the Shinagawa Prince Hotel loosen quietly over time, slip a little. That kind of decline is rarely one great error. It begins the day someone forgets to leave a glass of water, neglects to move a packet of tea, omits a newspaper. As for The Capitol Hotel Tokyu: in Japanese, what I experienced over these seven days is called ちょうどいい.

PPengguna TetamuThe hotel is very modern and clean. There is a hot bath in the ground floor which is very clean. The staff are very kind and helpful. The breakfast which cost around 3800 yen is really good if you like a Japanese breakfast with lots of small dishes and delicious juices . The location is great as it is near to busy street like Ginza and shibuya but not as crowded or noisy as the tourist area . Highly recommended.

MMaverick11The muji inspired interior is so clean and minimal, exactly the kind of space you want to decompress in after a full day of exploring. but the real standout is the skytree view from the room, waking up to that every morning never got old. asakusa itself is such a perfect base, old tokyo charm right outside the door with sensoji five minutes away on foot.

Jjeffrey159I enjoyed the experience overall. The hotel is very close to the station, which made traveling around Tokyo very convenient. There is also a FamilyMart right below the hotel, perfect for quick snacks and essentials. The hotel has a hot spring and gym facilities, although I didn’t get the chance to use them during my stay. The room itself was super spacious compared to many hotels in Tokyo. The bed was comfortable, the bathtub was large and very clean, and I also liked the Bluetooth audio speaker provided in the room. My only complaint was the touchscreen air-conditioning control panel. It was not very responsive and honestly quite frustrating to use. I would have preferred a traditional remote controller instead. Aside from that, everything else felt modern, clean, and comfortable. Would definitely stay again.

PPengguna TetamuThe hotel is very close to Suidobashi Station on the JR line, which provides excellent access to all the main attractions in Tokyo. You can easily reach places like Akihabara, Ueno, Tokyo Dome, and even Shinjuku or Shibuya with just one or two connections. Despite being so close to the train tracks, the rooms have good soundproofing, and we could not hear the trains at all inside the room. That was a huge relief because I was worried about noise, but it turned out to be completely fine The room itself was clean and spacious by Tokyo standards. Everything felt fresh and well maintained. The housekeeping did a great job, and we had plenty of space to open our suitcases and move around comfortably. That is not always easy to find in Tokyo hotels, so I really appreciated that. At the reception area, you can help yourself to tea and coffee, as well as some basic hygiene kits and amenities. It is a nice touch, especially if you forgot something or just want a hot drink before heading out for the day. But, there are a few things to be aware of. First, the check-in time is later than usual but at 5:00 PM. That is quite late compared to most hotels where check-in is around 2:00 or 3:00 PM. You need to plan your day around this and make sure you have somewhere to keep your luggage if you arrive earlier. It is not a dealbreaker, but it is something you should know before booking. The second thing was the bathroom setup. In our room, there was a strange curtain separating the shower area from the rest of the room. The problem is that this curtain does not actually hide anything. If someone opens the door from the room into the hallway, anyone standing there could see straight into the shower area. It was an odd design choice. My advice to the hotel would be to apply frosted film to the shower door. That would solve the privacy issue completely, and the strange curtain would no longer be needed. Another small issue was the luggage storage area. Some of the lockers were locked but not being used, which meant there was not enough space for everyone to store their bags. It was a bit frustrating because empty but locked lockers took up space that could have been used. However, I have to give credit to the administrator who helped us resolve the situation. They were kind and found a solution, so in the end, it worked out fine. I do want to recommend the restaurant on the first floor for evening relaxation. There are only a few tables, so it feels quite intimate and not too crowded. The prices are slightly higher than the average in Tokyo, but the desserts are wonderful, and they serve champagne as well. It is a lovely place to unwind after a long day of sightseeing. I especially enjoyed sitting there in the evening with a glass of champagne and a sweet treat, it felt like a small luxury. Overall, sequence Suidobashi is a solid choice if you value cleanliness, space, and good train connections. Just be prepared for the late check-in, the unusual shower curtain, and a possible small hassle with luggage storage. None of these issues ruined my stay, and with a few small improvements, this hotel could be truly excellent. I would still recommend it, especially for travelers who plan to spend most of their day exploring Tokyo and just need a comfortable, quiet place to sleep and recharge

PPengguna TetamuShinjuku Granbell Hotel was my accommodation choice during this Tokyo Shinjuku trip. Part of the design-oriented Granbell chain, the hotel opened in 2013 and expanded with additional rooms in 2016. It has a modern and stylish vibe overall, making it a good fit for travelers who enjoy a bit of personality and contemporary feel. The rooms are decent—not particularly spacious (typical for central Tokyo hotels), but the design is pleasant and they come with Simmons mattresses, so the bed is comfortable to sleep in. What stands out is that the hotel has a very large number of rooms (reportedly over 400 in total), making it a mid-to-large-scale property. Check-in can occasionally feel a bit busy in the lobby due to the volume of guests, but operations run smoothly. Room types are quite varied, from standard doubles to loft-style rooms, offering good flexibility when booking. Location is one of the more debated aspects of this hotel. It is very close to the heart of Shinjuku—right inside Kabukicho—so you’re surrounded by endless restaurants, izakayas, convenience stores, drugstores, and nightlife. Walking distance covers popular spots like Korean Town in Okubo or Golden Gai, which makes evening strolls and late-night eating extremely convenient. However, if you rely on the subway, the nearest station (Higashi-Shinjuku) is about a 4-minute walk (official figure), but to reach the major hubs like JR Shinjuku Station or Shinjuku-sanchome Station, it usually takes around 15 minutes on foot (depending on your exact route, and sometimes you have to navigate through the lively Kabukicho crowds). For someone who enjoys walking, it’s manageable, but dragging large luggage or walking in the rain might feel a bit inconvenient. In short, the location is highly central and vibrant, but it’s not quite “step out the door and you’re at the station” level. Room cleanliness is acceptable—daily housekeeping is thorough, with bathrooms, bedding, and floors kept in good condition, and no noticeable odors or mess. Everything feels clean and comfortable enough for a pleasant stay, but there is nothing particularly outstanding about it. The decor follows a simple modern style, facilities are standard (free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, fridge, etc.), and while functional, it doesn’t wow you. Bathrooms are on the small side (normal for Tokyo), but hot water is reliable and usage is fine. They also offer free loan of air purifiers or humidifiers, which is a nice small touch. Other minor highlights include the rooftop terrace (great for night views or a drink on clear evenings), a café, and a bar with decent atmosphere. Breakfast is an additional charge, but with so many dining options nearby, skipping the hotel breakfast is never an issue. In summary, Shinjuku Granbell Hotel isn’t a top-tier luxury property, but if you’re looking for a lively Shinjuku location, moderate design appeal, clean and practical rooms, and surroundings full of energy and food options at a mid-range budget, it’s a solid and pragmatic choice. The large number of rooms means availability tends to be reliable. While the walk to major stations takes about 15 minutes, for anyone wanting to fully immerse in Shinjuku’s nightlife and buzz, that actually becomes an advantage. Overall value for money is above average. Recommended for first-time Shinjuku visitors who want a fun, convenient, and comfortable base without breaking the bank!
