I come to Tokyo several times a year, staying a fortnight or more each time. This time I spent seven nights at The Capitol Hotel Tokyu. The room faced Hie Shrine. Through the floor-to-ceiling windows I could see the shrine's copper roof and half of Tokyo's skyline. The décor was modern without excess; the layout flowed easily, Bose speakers hidden in the walls, another set in the bathroom ceiling, connected by a 3.5mm jack. The curtains were motorized, though you hardly needed to close them. The turndown service. I would leave in the evening and return late to find the room changed: only the hallway light and bedside lamp left on, a bottle of water and a glass on the nightstand, two chocolates beside them. The evening tea and teacup, previously stored in the cabinet, had been moved next to the coffee machine. These changes were so slight you had to think back carefully to confirm they had happened at all. The temperature and humidity had been adjusted. As if the room itself remembered your habits. Room service fell short of the ryokan in Hakone or Lake Toya, but well above the ordinary hotel. Each day I made two or three cups of complimentary coffee, played music, read, wrote. In seven days I finished three books. The research ahead began to take shape. There were drawbacks. No washing machine, but a decent laundromat ten minutes' walk away—a chance to wander the streets of Akasaka. The room provided HDMI and ethernet ports but no cables; for those who came to rest, perhaps a mercy. The minibar fridge was mostly occupied by drinks for purchase, same as the Imperial, though there was still room for my sparkling water. The day I left it was half past five and fully dark. I could barely make out the faces of the bellhop and the taxi driver. Together they loaded my luggage into the boot. I wished the bellhop a happy new year in Japanese and told her I liked her hat. She smiled and returned the greeting. As the taxi pulled out of the underground drive, I thought of the inns Kawabata once wrote about: what had to be sought in the mountains of snow country can now be reached by elevator from the B2 exit of a metro station. I have watched the Shinagawa Prince Hotel loosen quietly over time, slip a little. That kind of decline is rarely one great error. It begins the day someone forgets to leave a glass of water, neglects to move a packet of tea, omits a newspaper. As for The Capitol Hotel Tokyu: in Japanese, what I experienced over these seven days is called ちょうどいい.

Park Hotel Tokyo truly exceeded every expectation I had — and then some. I spent 9 unforgettable nights here, and I can confidently say this is one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Without a second thought, I will be coming back on my next trip to Tokyo. From the very first moment, the level of service was exceptional. Every interaction with the staff felt warm, genuine, and thoughtful — they truly go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and memorable. The attention to detail is simply outstanding. The views deserve a special mention. Even though my room didn’t face Tokyo Tower, the scenery was absolutely breathtaking at all times of the day — morning, afternoon, and night. I honestly found myself wanting to capture every moment on camera. And for those who dream of seeing Tokyo Tower — it is beautifully visible right from the lobby, creating a stunning and iconic atmosphere. Breakfasts were delicious and consistently satisfying. While the selection didn’t change much day to day, it didn’t matter at all — I found my perfect morning set and looked forward to it every single day. Housekeeping is incredibly flexible, which I really appreciated. You can choose a full cleaning service or opt for an eco-friendly option where towels are refreshed and water is replenished without a full clean — a great touch depending on your needs. Another very convenient feature is the laundry service. The hotel offers both professional laundry and self-service washing machines (located on 27th and 28th floors). I personally used the coin-operated machines, and everything worked perfectly — washing and drying were quick and efficient. The location is simply unbeatable. It’s incredibly well-connected — whether you prefer JR lines, metro, or other transport options, everything is easily accessible. Getting anywhere in Tokyo was smooth and stress-free. This was actually my first time in Japan, and before the trip I was worried I wouldn’t understand the transport system and would rely on taxis. In reality, I figured it out almost immediately — and thanks to the hotel’s perfect location, I didn’t take a taxi even once. One of the most unique aspects of this hotel is that it’s also an art hotel — almost like a museum. There are fascinating artworks and exhibitions throughout the floors and common areas. If you’re into art, you can even explore guided experiences. Even without that, just walking around and discovering the pieces was a beautiful experience in itself. If I could give this hotel 100 stars, I absolutely would. Thank you to the entire team for making my stay in Tokyo so special. The hotel smelt welcoming the moment the doors open. It is tastefully designed and classy. The public baths were upkept very well. The rooms were clean and fits the description. The service staff were the key difference. They were warm and always ready to help. The hotel is conveniently located to the train station and to nearby Mitsukoshi. Everything is a breeze. I will definitely stay here again!

The muji inspired interior is so clean and minimal, exactly the kind of space you want to decompress in after a full day of exploring. but the real standout is the skytree view from the room, waking up to that every morning never got old. asakusa itself is such a perfect base, old tokyo charm right outside the door with sensoji five minutes away on foot.

We had an excellent stay at the Tokyo Bay Shiomi Prince Hotel. Arriving by train, we entered through the side entrance and were immediately impressed by the spacious, welcoming lobby. The check-in process was seamless, and the complimentary skincare set was a very thoughtful touch. The spa facilities were clean and felt very secure thanks to the card-key access. Our room was large, spotless, and well-equipped with all the essentials. We also appreciated the lobby refreshments (coffee, tea, and water) while waiting for our airport bus. All the staff are very helpful especially the conceige counter. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Tokyo.

Amazing location. Amazing view from high floors. Rooms are small, and not cheap. But, they are clean, and the shower was wonderful. My single room was on floor 24. Beautiful view. I could see the beautiful lights at night and fall asleep. Lower floors don’t offer the nice view because other buildings and signs are blocking the view. They still have the best location though. I recommend this hotel as long as you don’t require a large room.

I had an excellent stay at YOTEL Tokyo Ginza and would absolutely stay here again. From the moment I arrived, the service and accommodations exceeded my expectations. The luggage storage option was incredibly convenient and made it easy to enjoy the city before check-in and after check-out without having to drag my bags around Tokyo. One of the highlights of my stay was the restaurant. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was inviting, and it was a great option whether I wanted a quick bite or a relaxed meal. The on-site bar was another standout feature—perfect for unwinding after a long day of exploring. I also really appreciated the late checkout accommodation, which added a level of flexibility and comfort that made my departure day much less stressful. The room was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, making it easy to relax and recharge. Overall, every aspect of the experience felt well worth the cost. If you’re looking for a modern hotel with great amenities, excellent service, and a convenient location, I highly recommend YOTEL Ginza. I’ll definitely be staying here again on my next trip to Tokyo.

I recently stayed at the Prince Park Tower Tokyo and found the room to be spacious with a fantastic view. Although the decor is a bit dated, the cleanliness was impressive, and the service was exceptional. The staff were incredibly friendly, which made my stay even more enjoyable. If you're looking for a quiet and serene getaway in the bustling city of Tokyo, this hotel is definitely worth considering. The beds were comfortable, contributing to a restful experience. One of the highlights of the hotel is its proximity to Tokyo Tower and a nearby temple, both offering great sightseeing opportunities. Additionally, the hotel is surrounded by a large, beautiful garden that adds to the tranquility of the area. However, the location is somewhat isolated, with not much in the immediate vicinity. The only convenience store is a Lawson in the basement, which closes at 11 PM. There isn't a nearby 7-Eleven, and room service also ends before then, which can be a challenge for business travelers like me who often have to navigate time differences and late-night schedules. On a positive note, the amenities offered are excellent, including quality skincare products and plush bath towels and robes. Overall, it’s a good hotel in a quieter area, perfect for those looking to unwind.
