PPengguna Tanpa NamaNice ryokan with modern hotel vibes. Very good that they provided a free shuttle from the hotel to Hakone yumoto station. Note that the shuttle from the station to hotel is only from 2-6pm and the shuttle from hotel to station is only in the morning. But fits the usual check in and check out time. The room was spacious and great. Service was good and kaiseki meals were very delicious. There was also a public onsen which wasn’t crowded especially at night. The rooftop view is nice too

AANASTASIIA_BERDNIKOVAThis hotel is a paradise in the mountains of Hakone! Traditional style of the rooms - it feels like you are living in a Japanese family. We were prepared a traditional dinner, which was served in our room. It was very tasty and varied! The hotel has 3 onsen: 2 - private, 1 - public. We visited only the private ones (you need to book a time in advance at the reception upon check-in, the visit time is 30 minutes). It was wonderful! The hotel also provides a transfer from and to the nearest train stations. The rooms are clean, cozy, we slept on tatami under soft blankets. The hotel has a relax room. With massage chairs and a very quiet atmosphere. We stayed in this room after visiting the onsen and got great relaxation. And you are also given national clothes for rest and sleep. It is very beautiful and cute. Breakfasts were also in kaiseki style - varied and unusual. The hotel staff is very kind and friendly. this hotel allows tattoo baths. great experience, thank you very much! want to come back again!

PPengguna TetamuThe private onsen service was terrible. Please do not get the private onsen. The receptionist in the onsen does not understand english. The receptionist also did not assist us. The time was also incorrect. We were supposed to have 8-9 and 9-10 slot. But ahe is so confused. And 9:30 they are already knocking our doors calling us to come out.
A totally bad experience in the private onsen.
The hotel is ok. Food is also good. The private onsen which was supposed to be the highlight of our trip… became the worst. Total waste of money

PPengguna TetamuOverall an ok stay. A bit hard to find, very limited English spoken by the staff which led to some confusion (even for the representatives who were assigned to us by English speakers). Felt quite formal and not that warm
Room was more or less as expected, and the dinner and breakfast meals were quite elaborate. Felt that breakfast was actually the stronger meal of the two, so wasn’t necessarily worth it to pay extra for dinner. I’d likely skip doing dinner in the future. The room attendant who helped us was very kind and attentive, although we had a bit of language barrier given we don’t speak Japanese.
The big disappointment was even though the ryokan is advertised as allowing guests to book one of the larger hot springs on the property for private use for 45 minutes, we weren’t able to do this. We arrived within the designated check in time and were told that it was all booked up for the day. There was no way to book in advance and we were only staying for one night, and they didn’t try to accommodate allowing us to book at all for the next day before checkout. This really hampered the experience overall - we weren’t that interested in using the gender segregated facility (was traveling with my partner who is the opposite gender) as we wouldn’t be able to spend time together, and the tub in our room was quite small.
They should amend this policy to allow all guests to book a private hot spring time or not advertise it as part of the room! Feels like we got cheated out of the service and we weren’t offered anything else as an alternative. I would have booked another ryokan had I known this were the case - there are many others in Hakone which are much better value and have nicer / newer private facilities for around the same price. I wouldn’t recommend Yama no Chaya given this was a big part of what we thought would make it a good experience

PPengguna TetamuThe rooms matched the description. Yukatas were available on every floor. The reception staff were helpful. The onsens met our expectations. However, I had significant difficulties with communication – the staff did not speak English and had very limited understanding of it. I had to rely mostly on a translator app, but even then there were some misunderstandings. The food was nothing special – just typical hotel fare. Unfortunately, during dinner, my wife ate sushi and suffered from severe food poisoning. I also ate the sushi but had no issues.

Great breakfast and dinner, which changed day to day for our two day stay.
Didn't use the public baths, but the bath on our balcony and private baths were great. A bit hit and miss as to whether you get a chance to use the private baths as there is no booking system (not a criticism, it just might take a few attempts/waiting to get a bath).
Free snacks and late night ramen were great as well.

ААнна БучокOverall, the impression is positive, and we thank the staff for their care.
However, the ryokan is quite old, and inside all the rooms there is a smell of age, which makes it not very pleasant to stay there.
The Japanese food is very specific — it’s just my personal taste, but I couldn’t have breakfast or lunch there.
Considering that this was the most expensive “hotel” during our 14-day trip around Japan, our expectations were a bit higher.
In any case, we thank the staff for this unique experience.

Aaks052kcj寝るだけなのでドミトリーを選び、あまり期待はしていませんでした。
しかし、ベッドの上にタオル(バスタオルとフェイスタオル)や浴衣、歯ブラシ、耳栓が用意されてました。
お風呂には洗顔・シャンプー・ボディソープはもちろん、コットンやヘアブラシや化粧水・乳液もあり、ホテルとなんら変わりませんでした。
大浴場の明かりが点滅していたのが少し気になりました。
シャンプー・ボディソープは2種類あり、1つは香りが良かったです。
個人的には大浴場に水が置いてあったのが好印象です。
2段ベッドの上だったので、下や横の人が動くとかなり揺れました。自分も動く時はなるべくゆっくりするように心がけました。
事前に口コミを見て行ったので、夜ご飯はコンビニで買いました。
外国の方もいて、部屋で話してる声が聞こえてくることもありましたが、夜中に騒いだりする人はいなかったので、で比較的快適に過ごせました。
時間帯にもよるのか、ネットが少し繋がりにくいです。
今度また箱根に来る時も利用したいです。
