I left another local hostel after one night as it was just too noisy - I wanted a place for a good rest so that I could really enjoy all the amazing day trips nearby. This place did just that! I booked a single occupancy room (shared bathroom) on the day and stayed for 4 nights - great value for money and really did the job - I had a perfect rest here. Other guests were of all ages and were friendly. The hostel was very quiet at night and put on some optional entertainment (I chose not to partake and it didn’t disturb me at all). The pool area is small but great! Big kitchen area to cook in and store food. The staff were great at helping me book day trips and the location is fantastic for these (I did the Great Barrier Reef, karunda skyrail and daintree trip from here and the location was perfect). I would definitely stay again!

A nice place to stay with decent rooms and some nice swimming pools and outside spaces. 15 mins easy stroll to the sea/esplanade and 5 mins from central station. I should mention that ‘garden view’ is an exterior view, the ‘swimming pool view’ is the interior and much nicer.

Crystalbrook Bailey was my stopover hotel so I wasn't expecting anything flash etc however when I arrived I was pleasantly surprised how beautiful and modern this hotel is. Such a change to a lot of the older Cairns hotels. I felt like I was in a hotel in Melbourne! Check in was a breeze and staff were lovely, I was in my room in no time at all. There is alot of stunning modern artworks all throughout the building, very cool to find as you make your way to your floor. The room was beautiful and sufficient for a one nights stay, I could have easily stayed for longer! The location is great, in the city and close to the esplanade. I would definitely stay here again!

This hotel is only 10 a 10-minute walk to the city centre and the fantastic pubs and cafes on the Esplanade. If you want to do it in 2 minutes get one of the the electric scooters outside the reception area. The safe are welcoming and very friendly, making my 3-week stay a pleasure. The only downside was their restaurant is not open every night, but not a problem when you are that close to everything the city has to offer.

We stayed at Oak Carins for one quick evening before departing for a liveaboard cruise. The check in was quick and our stay was nice and comfortable. The only issue is that we booked the stay through our airline and requested an ocean view room. Unfortunately, the systems didn’t sync and Oak Carins oversold ocean view rooms and we were stuck with a different view. The staff tried to accommodate with a breakfast voucher but we couldn’t accept as we were leaving before their kitchens opened. So we were told that we would be credited back a refund…but there are so many stages/3rd parties, I doubt we will ever see it, but appreciate them trying. Would recommend if you are in Cairns and need a reasonably priced place to stay that is walking distance to the activities in the city.

We had a wonderful one night stay at the Heritage Cairns. A clean, spacious and well equipped room with a comfortable bed, air conditioning and a fridge. But what made this hotel even better was the fantastic receptionist. She went out of her way to help us, the lift was broken during our stay so she moved us to a ground floor room as we had a lot of luggage, she also assisted us with a taxi number and warned us that Ubers do sometimes cancel early in the morning - we had a an early morning flight the next day so needed a lift to the airport, our Uber did arrive as planned but it was reassuring to know we had a back up plan, thanks to this lady. It is little touches like this that really make a difference! We would definitely book again.

From the time we arrived the staff were very friendly. We got a package deal and all the free extras were correct(no hunting things down). The food at both restaurants/bar were delicious. While this resort is large and holds many poeple at a time, you did not hear much noise from other guests. Only complaint I have is the putt putt and karts were not open(or stayed open until) as per time stated. Kids didn't get use those facilities. I will book here again.

I saw ‘Cairns City’ in the title & booked, but don’t be fooled like I was as the motel is up in Cairns North, a good 15 minute walk from the Cairns CBD & Esplanade area. The view from my apartment was the Cairns State High football field on Sheridan Street. That said, the motel was decent for the price charged ($180 a night in peak season) and the Wi-fi was strong which was important as I was working remotely for a full day from my room. It’s by no means a modern motel but the room size was adequate & had everything I needed for a short 2 night stay. The room was well prepped, with a fresh tropical coconut fragrance as you walk in. There is a bit of noise from the Main Street outside and you can hear other guests next door from time to time but overall nothing too distracting. There were cafes & shops nearby within walking distance including a bakery 5 minutes up the road which does espresso coffee. But it is not a city motel & without a car it’s a hike to get to the Cairns esplanade/lagoon area where tourists normally go. On the first night I walked into town & saw the laser light show installed for the Cairns Festival near the Pier Bar & had a massage treatment at Foot & Body in Orchid Plaza.

Great food and friendly helpful staff. Although this building is quite old it has been reasonably well renovated and is very comfortable to stay at. I had to leave VERY early to catch a bus and was supplied with a box breakfast, most welcome at 5am. On my return from my trip to Karumba we found that my booking had been made incorrectly a week further ahead.on arrival at 7pm , very tired,I was very grateful that the duty manager was able to put me into a very nice room for the night, and I was able to have a delightful meal and catch up with the gorgeous Shoni who welcomed me back even though I looked and smelt like Robinson Caruso, would definitely go there again.

I arrived the day after Cyclone Jasper. My flight was severely delayed and I was a bit stressed esp as a solo older female traveller. It also seemed I had a duplicate payment in the system . The delightful young Irish(?) woman on reception the night of 16/12 was a godsend. She was charming , efficient, refunded my overpayment . On check in , offered me a lower bunk in a 3 bedded room. The room was great - quiet spacious , great accommodation clean . I loved the fluffy pillows spotless bedding good ac and fans.No ‘ hostel’ smell either! .Amazing location close to the Esplanade too! Thank you !

TTraveller354“Resort” very out of the way compared to the things to do in town. Luckily we got a car and were able to go back and forth for relatively cheap, but can imagine the cost would rack up if you were to use Uber the whole time. 24h front desk service and we got an extra towel when we asked for it. The outside area and pool looked really nice. This is clearly where the money has gone, though because of the weather we weren’t really able to make use of it. The rooms were very basic and rather old. Nothing impressive. Made us second guess why it was called a resort. Finally, I’d you get a room overlooking the pool, you’ll get a beautiful view but quite a trek to get to the room as you have to walk around the entire building (room access is on the outside) .

PPengguna TetamuThe photos provided by the operators are extremely deceptive. The accomodation is old and run down. The shower tiles were painted at some stage, and it is now peeling off both the floor and the walls. The “updated” vanity basin and tap are poorly sizes and you are unable to fully wash your face due to the shape and size of the basin with a shorter necked faucet . There is no complete enclosure for water in the shower resulting in you flooding the bathroom each time you shower- we ended up using the common showers in the passageway to attempt keep our room dry. The toilet paper is only single ply so bring your own if you decide to stay here !! Our towels and sheets had stains on them and the pillows are flat and lumpy. I wouldn’t swim in the pool unless you’ve had your latest tetanus shots. We were followed back to the accommodation by a slightly hostile homeless person one night which was slightly unnerving for our teenage daughters. The nicest part of this accommodation is the outdoor BBQ area. The breakfast provided smelt ok, but we decided to eat at the cafe at the marina each day as we were heading out to the reef and islands anyways. We decided to stay here and save money as generally we are out during the day and only need a comfortable bed and a clean shower- next time we will be going back to our regular accommodation closer to the Esplanade. PPHILLIP JAMESThe Mantra Hotel has outstanding location. It is directly in front of the Woolworths supermarket - the best option in central Cairns. It's also virtually opposite (the esplanade side)the lagoon public beachfront swimming pool. Finally it's just a 5 minute walk from Cairns Cruise Terminal, with outstanding day trips to Green Island, Fitzroy Island and the Reef. I booked a sea view room. When you enter the room, you don't see the ocean, but a building across the road. However, the view from the balcony was amazing. The balcony overlooks the main features of lagoon on the sea front. During the day it is great view - the lagoon pools and sea in the background. At night you cannot see the sea (as to be expected) but you have the amazing lagoon lights, which makes it very desirable and even romantic. Our room was at the end of block, which overlooks a shopping mall (no car noise) - looking right from the balcony is the lagoon view and looking left is a mountain view. However, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm the sun comes directly into the balcony area, which means it unusable until sun sets. Of course if you don't mind baking in the sun on the balcony, this is not really a concern. The room itself is pretty basic. The mini fridge of OK and TV has domestic channels only - no cable TV for BBC/CNN. The bathroom is of a good size. There is combined shower & bath. However, when using the shower, it can slightly flood this bathroom. A shower curtain may be desirable because the glass panel is not sufficient enough. At $225 per night this hotel was not cheap and you can better deals by coming in the off-season OR going bit further down the esplanade, and choosing another hotel. The Mantra does have its own pool and it is wonderfully heated, with normal deck chairs you would expect at 4 star hotel. However, the pool gets very little natural sunlight, because it of its location between 2 buildings. Overall, the hotel has amazing location, and it is still recommended, despite the shortcomings mentioned. My final note: When we checked in, I was impressed with the level of service provided by the receptionist. She had a very welcome attitude and a wonderful personality.

PPengguna TetamuThe personnel is helpful and friendly. The location is perfect and the bar/club is always busy. You can eat, drink and party all at the same place. The air conditioning in the rooms was a bit too strong, and there is no controller to modify it. It's a centralised system. The bed has to be done by yourself when arriving. Finding it done would be appreciated. A shelf and individual light in the bed would be really useful. The building is very big and has enough room in the common areas and kitchen (which is busy at any time). Services are fine overall.

It has 2 outdoor pools and spacious air-conditioned apartments. COMMENT In June 2023 We found our apartment 205 for 10 days to NOTt to be of 4star standard at all. PRO: The bedlinen and bathroom towels were very clean and of good quality. The air conditioning worked. The ceiling fans worked. The apartment was spacious. The fridge worked but bottom of door shelving missing. Inconvenient if you wanted to store water bottles etc. CONS: ” Each unit at the Edge has a flat-screen TV”., which was NOT working and had to be re-connected by guest. “Free Wi-Fi” NOT available in unit 205 – we were informed by office unless you wanted to stand outside of office area to connect. Apartment was dark, - lighting in all rooms inadequate and woefully dim and outdated. Lighting in laundry area was badly positioned – and here there were no instructions on how machine worked. *Vertical Blinds in poor state and need maintenance or replacement. *All doors (screen and glass sliding) need maintenance to run smoothly. *The furniture was inappropriate (apart from 2 leather sofas) and badly arranged. *The ambience was noisy. The decor throughout the apartment – wasn’t.!! Except 2 pictures hung almost at ceiling. – 1 small mirror in dark hallway., and a wall clock. (All 15 years or more in age) *No rugs or furnishings to soften the décor or the echo sounding throughout the apartment. *Coffee table in bad state. *Dining table satisfactory but serviced by 2 different types of chairs. *The bathroom needed maintenance/upgrade (and pictures I have taken show much damage to outer base of shower, mould along the wall.) *The kitchens come equipped with very basic essentials. A microwave and dishwasher., utensils for cooking on very old worn stove. “Some units have balconies with sea or mountain views”, others, like ours, at 205 had overgrown foliage with NO views. The Edge Apartments Cairns has an outdoor entertainment area with barbecue facilities and free on-site private parking. *The Rain forestation Nature Park is 11 miles from The Edge Apartments. Kuranda Scenic Railway and Skyrail Rainforest Cableway are only a 10-minute drive away.

PPengguna TetamuThis Motel was disgusting.It just smelt of cigarette smoke and a bottle of bleach.But the room was still dirty.The door did not lock properly.The shower had dirty shoe marks in it the fridge did not work and my food was spoiled.The bed was like a brick so uncomfortable and I only sat on it.I rang to get help with the fridge and they were not helpful at all.I had to move and spend more money on a motel.And still 2 wks later the manager won’t return my phone calls or emails will not refund my money.Highly recommend you never stay at this motel is absolutely disgusting.The fridge had mould in it.
