Zum vierten mal waren wir in diesem Hotel,diesmal in einer Junior Suite. Die Lage ist traumhaft,der Ausblick bis nach Mount Baker(USA)fantastisch.Der Service ,von der Rezeption angefangen bis zum Restaurant Personal hat keine wirkliche Ahnung von Gästehandling auf diesem Preisniveau.Auch die Zimmer sind an manchen Stellen renovierungsbedürftig.Verkratzte Tische,schmuddelige Sofas,Armaturen ,die abfallen….nun alles verzeihbar ,aber nicht für diese Preise,die im Sommer extrem sind.

Auf unserer Kanda-Rundreise haben wir ein paar Tage im Brentwood Bay Resort verbracht. Gebucht haben wir eine Ocean Suite. Das Personal war wirklich sehr freundlich, das Zimmer mega schön, alles sauber, die Betten bequem, vor allem das Bad mit der Wanne „halb im Zimmer“ echt schön und mal was anderes. Wir haben abends im Pub gegessen und das Essen war lecker :) Einen Pool gibt es auch. Grundsätzlich ja ok, aber die Lage von diesem war für uns persönlich ein großer Nachteil. Die Zimmer mit Balkonen liegen quasi direkt am Pool und sind somit einsehbar. Alle können einem beim abendlichen „draußensitzen“ zugucken, ebenso schräg vom Restaurant aus. Die Lautstärke ist dementsprechend. Als wir da waren (unter der Woche), war es nicht super voll und demnach aushaltbar. Bei voll besetztem Pool und gut besuchtem Pub (zB am Wochenende) wird das wohl anders sein. Wir haben versucht, das Zimmer zu tauschen (was leider nicht möglich war) und haben uns tatsächlich etwas in unserer Privatsphäre gestört gefühlt. Davon abgesehen haben wir unseren Aufenthalt aber sehr genossen!

I love the Westin in general. As a frequent traveller, and titanium elite member of Marriott, I've been to a lot of places in the Marriott envelope. What I do like about this place is that it's in a beautiful setting in the mountains west of Victoria. It has a modern feel. The two golf courses are incredible. They're absolutely top 100 golf courses in Canada (having played many of them). However, for a resort of this calibre, the service is awful. Let's start off with the heating. One of our two rooms was frigid at night. Yes it was spring, so it was warm during the day and cold at night. Apparently, the HVAC can only do hot or cold but not both. Really? It's absolutely bizarre to me that one of the rooms had a great temperature of 21.5 C and the other room was 17C? So they gave 2 portable heaters, which promptly blew a fuse. And they state they have valet parking, but to have to park it yourself and drop off the key, doesn't really sound like valet parking . They did compensate for 1 day of parking, but when you request valet parking, you don't expect it to be sporadic and based. And for breakfast, they brought the totally wrong order. In all fairness, they fixed it fairly, and eventually, did compensate the meal on checkout. But it was a waste of about 40 minutes, because the service was slow (having said it was a Sunday of a long weekend). The spa was closed for Monday and Tuesday. I have written to the general manager and through the website to complain. They apologized and stated they would improve. However, it just feels like a brush off. Usually, most hotels would attempt to compensate for poor service. This is probably the first place that really doesn't try. For a golf resort and spa, that is highly rated, the service was just not good. I'd strongly suggest not staying here.

It is my understanding this property was just recently rebranded as a Holiday Inn. I am a diamond member with IHG and this is my new favorite property. Darrin at the front desk welcomed me, checked me in and was most pleasant and helpful. The lobby, rooms, public areas and restaurant all appear to be recently ”refreshed” with new furnishings with stylish and professional design. Gurinder at the front desk provided excellent customer service - she was kind and friendly, professional and helpful. This establishment claims that they are smoke free, yet when we were checking in, the fire alarm kept going off, I questioned it and the reply I got was “yeah that happens all the time we pretend like we can’t hear it”. I booked with Agoda which is actually under booking.com and never had a problem. On the app it said they were pet friendly, and then at the front desk we were told it wasn’t. It was already really stressful and they did not offer free cancellation, instead I was just handed a phone number and told to call them. They weren’t going to deal with the situation, they had surveillance cameras and should be able to pick up sound. If a hotel claims to be smoke free but the front desk doesn’t even care about the alarm going off and said it happens all the time but they are willing to make their customers stay a living nightmare and disregard fire safety standards??? How are they still in business in downtown Victoria?

The reason I didn't give one star is the location, which is walking distance. Otherwise, the hotel is pretty run-down. The ”kitchenette” is gross. There is not even a drawer to put their utensils, and they are just on the bottom of a cabinet. The windows have poor sound proof, and I can hear the cars and people talking on the street on night even with all the windows closed. The ”pool” looks pathetic. The day I stayed was not during a heatwave, and it was 18-19 C in the evening, and the room feels not cool enough. I can't imagine staying in this hotel during a heat wave. As a result, they put a tower fan in the room. If you have a taller car, you won't be able to park in their parkade, as the clearance is only 6 ft. (Beware!). One will have to either park in the Library parkade, or on the street. The fridge temperature doesn't seem to be cool enough.

I love the Westin in general. As a frequent traveller, and titanium elite member of Marriott, I've been to a lot of places in the Marriott envelope. What I do like about this place is that it's in a beautiful setting in the mountains west of Victoria. It has a modern feel. The two golf courses are incredible. They're absolutely top 100 golf courses in Canada (having played many of them). However, for a resort of this calibre, the service is awful. Let's start off with the heating. One of our two rooms was frigid at night. Yes it was spring, so it was warm during the day and cold at night. Apparently, the HVAC can only do hot or cold but not both. Really? It's absolutely bizarre to me that one of the rooms had a great temperature of 21.5 C and the other room was 17C? So they gave 2 portable heaters, which promptly blew a fuse. And they state they have valet parking, but to have to park it yourself and drop off the key, doesn't really sound like valet parking . They did compensate for 1 day of parking, but when you request valet parking, you don't expect it to be sporadic and based. And for breakfast, they brought the totally wrong order. In all fairness, they fixed it fairly, and eventually, did compensate the meal on checkout. But it was a waste of about 40 minutes, because the service was slow (having said it was a Sunday of a long weekend). The spa was closed for Monday and Tuesday. I have written to the general manager and through the website to complain. They apologized and stated they would improve. However, it just feels like a brush off. Usually, most hotels would attempt to compensate for poor service. This is probably the first place that really doesn't try. For a golf resort and spa, that is highly rated, the service was just not good. I'd strongly suggest not staying here.

At first glance the hotel is appealing and welcoming. They may be experiencing a lack in staffing as very evident when checking in to be stuck in a very long line with 2 employees only at the desk for 3pm check in time. Of my 30 friends all attending the same NYE event, none got their rooms on time. I waiting until 4:30 pm for mine putting me behind and lost time to use any amenties ie pool etc., or for preparing for a 6pm start for the party with the appetizers. Appetizers were very limited as the buffett also was. very basic food, ie. a salad bun basket, pasta dish, potato surprise, and an overcooked beef hip at the end of the table. Desserts were very limited also. The bar was also understaff for the numbers attending. Very long lineups and $9 a drink was certainly too steep. Sure didn't feel like the $85 plus tax tickets worth. The saving grace for this event was the fantastic band and terrific crowd I was with to ring in the new year.

Zum vierten mal waren wir in diesem Hotel,diesmal in einer Junior Suite. Die Lage ist traumhaft,der Ausblick bis nach Mount Baker(USA)fantastisch.Der Service ,von der Rezeption angefangen bis zum Restaurant Personal hat keine wirkliche Ahnung von Gästehandling auf diesem Preisniveau.Auch die Zimmer sind an manchen Stellen renovierungsbedürftig.Verkratzte Tische,schmuddelige Sofas,Armaturen ,die abfallen….nun alles verzeihbar ,aber nicht für diese Preise,die im Sommer extrem sind.

I was delighted with this place, starting with the check in, we arrived so late and they were there to help us so late at night, the house is divine, so charming with historic vibes. For breakfast they accomodated our food needs and the staff was very friendly offering recommendations and chatting with every guest. It was quiet, and the living room was the most comfortable to have tea or coffee, which was available anytime. I have no complaints at all, only good thins to say and I would definitely recommend it.

Great hostel - the high points are the staff who are friendly, efficient and professional. The complimentary breakfast and dinner are such a bonus and keep travel costs low. The room (we had a private) was a nice size, comfy bed, lots of hooks for clothes, clean and we had a great sleep. The building is cool and fun to explore. Laundry and bike storage in the basement and lockers to store your things while you wait for checkin or check out. Great common area to meet new people and lots of resources. Great location, too - five blocks to the waterfront and lots of bookstores and cafes around the hostel. The challenges - really there are none. Victoria has a housing in affordability problem the same as Vancouver and there are a couple of great agencies in the area supporting people in poverty. Say “hi” to those struggling like you would a new hostel friend and you will make somebody’s day. We love Ocean Island Inn Hostel and will be staying here every time we come to Victoria - at least twice per year. Thank you to all the amazing staff at Ocean Island.

We had an upgrade and the room was excellent. The reception was extremely friendly and helpful. It lid just within minutes of walk to the fisherman’s wharf and beacon hill garden.

It's a cute boutique hotel with friendly staff. There's only one elevator and surprisingly it was always available whenever we needed it. You can park on the street (parking meter) or at the parkade behind the red bldg which is across the street (though we didn't check it out). We arrived around 6 pm and had free parking in front of the hotel till 9 am Sunday. There was a fruit bowl and beverages at the front for guests. We had dessert at the hotel restaurant and it was delicious! We were on the top floor and the room was very clean, but I found the pillows very uncomfortable (too puffy and can't flatten them down) for my neck. Unfortunately we stayed during Saturday night and it was super noisy till late at night (from a few cars speeding at the nearby street to some people being very loud) - maybe it's not like that during the weekday. Chinatown, lots of restaurants and the harbour are within walking distance.

The hotel in general was alright. Nothing too special or fancy. There was a good restaurant at the base called Bin 4. What makes this hotel not great is that from the time that we were there (3 nights), 4 car windows were smashed and broken into including our own car. There was nothing in the vehicle. It seemed just to happen for the purpose of breaking something. The worst part is the day if we had to do a 7 hour drive home taking the ferry and the Coquihalla. The hotel says there is 24/7 security and people at the hotel which just doesn’t make sense for so many vehicles being broken into. Of course the hotel isn’t ‘responsible’. May not be the place you want to stay and certainly don’t leave anything in your car.
