If you’re looking for a shiny corporate hotel then don’t book this. If you’re looking for a unique hotel with character then this is the place for you. It’s in a beautiful location and large characterful rooms. We had a room with a large balcony over looking a park.
My husband had to get bypass surgery at the Prince of Wales hospital recently. I booked a room for my son & I hoping I’d made the right decision on staying in a pub. Well we were pleasantly surprised…the room was big enough for what we needed & VERY CLEAN….it was serviced every day. The beds & pillows were very comfy & the room met our every need. We loved how central it was to everything…the hospital, food, public transport & anything else you could possibly need with a major Westfield within a 15 min bus trip. It was also great to be able to get something to eat for tea after visiting hrs at the hospital as most places finish taking Dinner orders by 8 - 8.30 but this hotel took orders until 9 - 9.30. There was no downstairs noise filtering up to the room which was great & staff were friendly & nothing was a problem. I will definitely stay here again.
Great location in vibrant Randwick with nearby shops, restaurants, supermarkets; especially being in The Spot area with its own collection of interesting cafes, little bars and The Ritz cinema. Close to buses and the light rail that takes you to the Sydney CBD via Central Railway station. Also buses or walk down to Coogee Beach with its holiday atmosphere and attractions. Booked small double room. Comfortable bed, small desk with chair, cupboard for clothes with small fridge, wall-mounted TV facing bed, kettle with instant coffee, black tea and green jasmine tea bags. Small bathroom with shower, shampoo, conditioner, soap, decent towels. Building open and staffed 8 am to 8 pm, otherwise access using your room card. Hotel clean, very friendly and helpful staff. Kitchen and dining area downstairs for guests to use. Free wi-fi and allowed late checkout for booking directly with hotel. Placement of my room on ground floor facing back of next door pub was less pleasant due to car park view and noise from air conditioning compressors and other machinery happening outside (going through the night and not that good for a light sleeper). There was a particularly annoying rattling machine noise outside that would start and stop. Next time I would see if I could stay in a room towards back of the building and upper floor. Overall small but comfortable room for the reasonable price I paid. Was fine if using the room mostly only at night to sleep (larger rooms are available if you intend to spend more time in your room). Excellent location and friendly staff.
My husband and I stayed here in room 109 for 5 days we went to Randwick for medical treatment, this motel was fantastic 10/10 it cost us $160 per night very comfortable bed and short walk everywhere the staff were amazing the gentleman receptionist and the two girls were fantastic help and very kind thanks for the hospitality… was a wonderful stay
The main advantage of this place is its location. It's a five mins walk to Randwick light rail station. Randwick light rail station is the last stop also. The place is right opposite to two hospitals. As a foreign tourist, I find this place safe, quiet, and easy to access by light rail transport. Coles and Woolworth's supermarkets are ten minute walk from this place. A good location if your children are studying at UNSW as it is one rail stop to UNSW High Street. You can also walk to UNSW from Randwick light rail station (15 mins walk). Please note there are no lifts in this place. Hence you will need to carry your own check-in luggage. There are no bell boys to do this. The kitchen is shared and so is the laundry. You will need to use three one-dollar coins for the washing machine and three one-dollar coins for the dryer. You may need to use the dryer twice hence you will need to spend A$6 on drying your dress. The reception will help you with changing your notes to coins. You need to use your own washing powder and fabric softener. There are lots of eateries around this place including KFC, Oporto, manoosh pizza, and MacDonald to name a few. Rooms are cleaned only once a week. You will need to help yourself with fresh towels that are placed in the common area. For someone from Singapore like myself, this is a very odd culture for a Hotel. Parking is pain and this place doesn't provide one. It will cost you A$ 50 per day for an over night parking. Wilson Parking is close by at Ritz cinema if you want to park your rent a car. I guess that's how it is here in Sydney. Overall a good place to stay and the location is the best part of this stay.
We booked this hotel because it was close to the hospital where our son was a patient. Another plus was it had parking, breakfast and dinner in the blurb. It was very misleading! There are 4 parking spaces at the venue! We spent 15 minutes driving up and down the street to find a spot, our patience paid off, luckily. Another place to park would be in the hospital car park for $30. That wouldn't have been a problem but then you have to drag luggage to the hotel. We asked about our prepaid breakfast and was told it was at a cafe down the street and the info would be placed under our door. This didn't happen! Try getting in contact with anyone after 5pm,,the emergency phone number wasn't answered. We had wanted to get breakfast early so we could pick up our son to take home but had to wait till 9am when the receptionist came on duty. He insisted our breakfast vouchers were delivered but obviously someone else got them if delivered at all. We got a refund and got our own breakfast. There is no dining room, dinner would be at a restaurant of your choice, a short walk from the hotel.Another guest at the hotel had locked his key inside his room, he also had to wait till 9am for attention. On the plus side the room was clean and close to the hospital but there was no English Breakfast tea, only herbal. It would be helpful if these problems were explained more before booking.
Excellent attention to detail! I am very fussy where i stay when travelling being in the Tourism Industry and managing hotels and resorts for over a decade, and i was not disappointed with my recent stay at St Marks at Randwick. Rarely you will find an accommodation business that ticks every box with a guests stay and i was happy to find that St Marks did exactly that! Congratulations to the team for making my stay an excellent one and i shall be choosing this hotel whenever I am in Sydney.
Firstly the positive points of our stay: -The hotel is in a good location close to public transport -Reception staff were friendly -The layout of the room was good with lots of storage for the size Unfortunately our stay was heavily tainted by a couple of issues with the room which were that the air conditioning was not working for our entire multiweek stay and even though we told staff multiple times from early in our stay that it was not working and we were told we were wrong or that it had been resolved when it definitely had not. Additionally the room needed a better clean, it was surface clean but the carpet was still dirty (walking around in socks it'll turn your socks dirty colour) and shower wasn't cleaned. The bathroom door was very hard to open as the rollers must not be hung properly.
We stayed here for 3 nights on our visit to Sydney for the NYE celebrations. Hotel is very easy to access with the L2 light rail directly opposite the hotel taking you right in to the CBD. But because it’s a bit further out in Randwick, the price is much more affordable, especially on NYE! Even on NYE we had not trouble getting in and out of the CBD and was very easy. Also not far from the airport so an Uber was pretty cheap for a flight home. Our room was the first one as you enter the hotel. There is no soundproofing, so we heard everyone coming and going and conversations in reception. We could also hear the toilet being flushed above and even the pedestrian crossing beep outside. Therefore, I would definitely request a room at the rear. Apart from the noise, everything else was good. The room was spacious for 3 adults, with comfy beds and decent shower. Tea/coffee and fridge, iron and hairdryer in room. Large TV and good WiFi. There’s a communal kitchen with laundry facilities if you need it and a lovely courtyard area for chilling out. We had a daily room service and towels changed each day. Location is good with plenty of choice for eating locally and 15-20 min walk to Coogee beach. I actually walked from the hotel to Coogee and then on the coastal path to Bondi and back, which was excellent. We would stay again, but not in the same room due to the noise.
Beautiful building, great location to Randwick racecourse. Rooms were clean and tidy. Receptionist was very friendly and helpful. Great communication leading up to stay as well. Undercover parking available but our car wouldn’t fit (too high) so they accommodated us by allowing us to park in the driveway. Easy to access after hours. Comfortable bed. No plug in the bathroom at all, take an extension cord with you if you plan on staying here and you use an electric shaver, there’s a mirror in the room that you can to use for hair straightener etc. Some rooms have private bathrooms for extra money so be sure to check before booking - we had a private bathroom. Clothes hanger was directly above the tea/coffee/kettle so hanging a dress and a suit was awkward if you plan on using tea/coffee area. Can hear other guests moving around during the night, especially as our room was next to the shared bathroom, hubby woke up the first night to someone throwing up! It gets very noisy during the night, walls are thin. Hot water in our bathroom took ages to warm up, a lot of wasted water. Tea and coffee provided but I’m not an instant coffee drinker so if Coffex instant coffee isn’t to your taste then byo. The exhaust fan in our bathroom wasn’t working so the tiny bathroom got steamy very quickly so had to open the window. The shower itself is super small as well. But all toiletries (shampoo conditioner and body wash) provided. If you are looking for somewhere to stay to go to the races then this place is very suitable. We walked which took 20 minutes at a casual pace but you could cross the road and jump on the light rail up to the next station if you didn’t want to walk.
