It is literally In the heart of Madrid! Lots of food eateries around! Beautiful rooftop bar!

Good location just off the Gran Via and only a short walk from the Metro. Spacious room, ample sized bathroom and it was nice to have the ability to cook and use the microwave in the kitchenette. The bed was very comfortable. I’m guessing the hotel is 3star as there is no bar or restaurant but there were plenty in the area. The lifts were fast, the hotel and rooms were very clean, and breakfast was great with choice.I could not fault the hotel in any way. The staff were also friendly and helpful.

It is a really nice hotel; the rooms are great and very clean, the people attending at the bar and the reception. A very nice buffet breakfast with all you want. 1 point of attention is the coffee; this was really horrible ( following several people who stayed as well at the same time) After business was done the way to the center could be walked. And from either part of Madrid city center it takes about 7 euro to get back by cabify.

Un hotel perfecto en ubicación a Chamartin ( Ave ) y servicios, el recibimiento y recepción perfecto, la habitación y el baño casi perfecto excepto un par de calcetines sucios que se dejaron sin recojer detrás de la butaca, y el baño estaba limpio pero necesita mejorar en limpieza. Del resto si lo recomiendo.

Had a lovely break in Madrid staying at the Principal. Staff were fantastic- incredibly helpful. Our room was very peaceful - haven’t slept so well in ages! And the hotel is very well positioned for getting around Madrid with a great roof terrace for enjoying a drink at the end of the day. Would definitely recommend.

I stayed at The AC Recoletos in Madrid in January, so I'm a little late with the review.  However, I would be remiss if I didn't add to all the other rave reviews about this hotel.  Where to start, I guess with location.  The hotel is within walking distance to the wonderful three art museums,  and also to The Sorolla Musuem and the The Lázaro Galdiano Museum.  The National Archaeological Museum is nearby as well as is the lovely El Retiro Park. There is a lively market, Mercado De La Paz, within a few blocks (fresh everything with some tasty little tapas stalls). And, one more thing, there are theaters within blocks for interesting evening performances. Now, for the hotel, perfect.  The staff was more than accommodating.  I really appreciated that after a long flight my room was ready when I arrived.  As a solo traveler, I also appreciated the travel tips, directions, and neighborhood advice (it's a wonderful area for walking).  My room was spotless, spacious, and well lit.  Breakfast was fresh and substantial.  What more can I say ??  Maybe just Thank You.

Clean and cozy hotel. Front desk staff are friendly and greet guest, but other staff like domestics don’t. They allowed us 1hour early check-in which is really appreciated coming from a stressful flight. Location is great as it is 2-3mins walk to Sol (city centre) lots of restaurants and shops around. Breakfast buffet selections are little bit lacklustre. We enjoyed the jamon (spanish ham) but apart from that wasn’t special. Could have put the juice/coffee machine out for buffet instead of ordering every-time from the staff. We asked the staff if it was possible to extend our stay and get a discount but unfortunately, the price went up than to go down. We would like to use this hotel again in the future if the price is not as expensive as they offered us for our extended stay.

It would have cost us more than double to stay in an equivalent standard hotel in the centre of Madrid and as it turned out the location was more of a bonus than an inconvenience. The room was comfortable with all the facilities one would expect, including a filled mini bar (there is no hotel bar) and TV (only BBC news in English) and it was cleaned daily and clean bedding and towels were available on request. The staff were friendly and helpful and the WiFi was fast enough in our room for us to be able to stream UK TV channels. Although there were no bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity the bus with a stop right outside the door can be taken (€1.50) to Valdemarin a small local area which has several bars and restaurants. We particularly liked Volapie with its friendly staff and good food. The tapas and burgers were very good and the Asian food at Kokochin was very tasty. Taking the bus in the opposite direction for the same price you arrive at Moncloa, a major transport hub, giving you access to the Metro system and local and National buses. The same bus has a stop next to the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid and the Hippodromo racecourse is a 10 euro taxi ride from the hotel both of which we were visiting. Do NOT attempt to walk to the Hippodromo following Google or Apple Maps. It brings you to a locked gate and a Ministry of Defence restricted area. It is impossible to pass through at any point. The only way to walk is to follow the driving route and this means you must walk along the grass verge of a busy highway. We enjoyed our stay and the peace that the hotel offered on such a busy holiday weekend in Spain.
