"Excellent! Very satisfied for this onsen hotel!! Definitely recommend this accommodation to friends and family. Everything is over expectation: services, facilities, room, public bath (onsen), food, and all. One drawback would be language barrier between some staff, but they really trying to communicate with us which is impressive. Also, there is a free shuttle bus service between train station and hotel during daytime, very convenient. Tips for me is to book this hotel on weekdays, it is half price cheaper than weekends or holidays."

"This is a well-established, classic hotel. As foreign tourists, we definitely took advantage of local resources here. The Chinese restaurant inside isn't really worth trying, but unfortunately, it was the only option available for reservations on the day we stayed. The hot springs, however, were fantastic; it was lovely to quietly enjoy the beauty of fewer people during the off-season. Breakfast was also very good, and all the guests were polite and queued orderly, which made for a harmonious atmosphere – something I hope all travelers can experience. To the right of the main entrance, there are geta (wooden clogs) you can try on, and a short walk to the nearby river leads to a hot spring footbath, which was very pleasant."

"the place is famous, for thailand theater shows, foods in many varieties but cant say good. when we check in we are greet by a front desk clerk,with no smile, and tired face.and since i was a foreigner but good in japanese, communication did not go so well though he is not nice explaning everything. but the foreigners workin there is so nice. the ofuro is good but can say not what we expect. in the morning we check out staff were all good and smiling."

"The overall experience was very satisfactory, and the Mandarin-speaking waiter arranged for us from Hong Kong and the communication was smooth. There is no shuttle bus at the location, but it takes more than ten minutes to walk from the JR station. If the luggage is not heavy, it is not too far. The hotel is beautiful, there is a letter shop at the beginning, and there is a foot bath hot spring pool. The seventh floor is a separate hot spring pool for men and women, with an open-air pool. The male soup faces the direction of the station and sees different scenery sooner or later. The female soup is very private, but there is no scenery. It seems that you can order private baths for men and women, but we have no time to try this time. The room is large, you can choose to make a bed, there is no problem for four people, but this time it is only my girlfriend and I. "This hot spring hotel is mostly occupied by Japanese people and there are very few foreign tourists. Everything is better than expected, and the package with two meals is very cost-effective. The room is in traditional Japanese style, very large and old but very clean. The hot spring pool has indoor and outdoor areas. When I went to soak in the outdoor area at 4 pm on the first day, I was the only one there and the environment was very good. When checking in, the front desk will let you choose the dining time. The buffet is divided into three time periods. I chose the earliest time period. It was basically full every time, and there were a lot of delicious food. According to the comments, there is a free shuttle every half an hour, but in fact, the shuttle needs to be booked in advance and is not free. I walked to the hotel because I didn't wait for the shuttle. People with a lot of luggage are advised to take a taxi or leave the large luggage at the station because the second half of the walk to the hotel is uphill and it is tiring to drag the suitcase."

"Lovely onsen ryokan. Staff don’t really speak English so there’s a bit of trying to figure things out for yourself.  Nevertheless, service was friendly and helpful as best they could.  The outdoor onsen is really relaxing and because it’s not a crowded hotel, both times I went I had it to myself as did my wife and kids in the ladies area.  We picked the room with its own outdoor onsen tub which is a great option if you don’t want to use the non-private ones.  You can apparently book private onsens but they did not have any available for us (possibly because we arrived slightly late in the day).  Food was excellent for both dinner and breakfast.  Kids couldn’t;’quite enjoy the onsens cause they found the water too hot so you may want to make sure your kids can before you decided to splurge.  One final point, the ryokan is located down a tiny road on the right just before Google Maps tells you that you have reached."

"The hotel over looks the flowing river that runs through Gero while also looking at the mountains. Its a great location to easily walk into the town and explore the small shops and offerings there. If you have a chance, definitely recommend booking the room with a private onsen. Sitting in the onsen with the cool breeze from the mountains that came through the window was a great way to start and end the day I was there. The public baths are nice as well and lots of space. Getting around the hotel can be a little tricky sometimes if you don't read/speak japanese, but the staff is very friendly to help navigate the way. I opted in for the breakfast and dinner options and was stuffed. Very great quality and local offerings from the meals and did not even need lunch in between. Great for couples, families and solo travelers."
