Hotel 2 Bintang di Gent

We stayed three nights and had two rooms. The rooms, charged very high but same rate had different amenities. One room had a fridge but it didnot work. Same for safe deposit box which didnot work. We asked the owner and he confirmed these two are not functional in the room ever. The other room, muxh smaller didnot have these. Service was almost nom existent except to check in. There is no lift and a lot of narrow stairs. It seems to be a one person show. The guests are not supposed to make noise (fair enough) but there was a party Friday evening which was so noisy it kept us up The hotel is too close to the train station and trains may keep a light sleeper up all night. There is nothing to blocl the sound. The hotel while not cheap in cost was cheap in services No. Fridge, no Air conditining, water heat and force in shower poor.. So not worth the money.. The place while close to the station is 30 minutes from the Centrum and where life is

Overall, this hotel disappointed me greatly. I had chosen it partly because it was advertised as being convenient to public transit. Not so. The #1 tram, which my reservation confirmation mentioned as an easy way to reach the hotel, has been out of service for a while now and will remain so for the next four years while the city renovates the route. Yet the hotel's final communication with me, just before my arrival, failed to mention this. This caused me no end of trouble. But it was also typical; I never felt that I was in a hospitable hotel where anyone cared about my comfort or convenience or even whether I enjoyed my stay. The proprietor, who does everything from making the beds to setting out the breakfast to staffing the office, gave the impression that beyond his considerable responsibilities, he had no time or energy for anything but the absolute minimum. Luckily, the people of Ghent welcome visitors, and it was thanks to them that I enjoyed the city at all. Despite the physical signs of wear and tear, the Erasmus Hotel has some charm. One afternoon, I was returning from a museum visit and heard someone play the antique organ on the premises, and someone singing lieder to it. I've also never eaten breakfast in the shadow of a suit of armor. Nevertheless, I wish I'd stayed somewhere else.

I had a very bad experience with this hostel, I arrived and it was imediately clear that they are not focused at all on having a clean space. They gave me sheets to make my own bed and the sheets had stains on them, as well as the covers in the bedroom, which did not seem clean at all. The location is excellent but minimum requirements in terms of cleaning are not met. Furthermore, there is at least one floor with no bathroom, which means you need to change floors if you ever want to go to the toilet. I do not recommend it at all. I ended up checking out on the same day of check in and went to another place (basically, paid twice for accomodation). When I explained the situation and asked for a refund I received a reply stating that they stand by the quality of their product, which is a bit shocking considering I sent a photo of the dirty sheets and did not even receive an apology.

We discovered bed bugs on the sheets in room 33. The hotel staff moved us to another room, but this room (50) also showed signs of bed bugs with blood stains on the sheets, and it was not adequately cleaned. Therefore we were forced to find alternative accommodation at 3am. They only offered a one night refund out of three, which was unacceptable given the severity of the situation. The handling of this situation by the manager Pascal De Gryse and receptionist Neel was beyond poor, they did not seem to care at all or take any responsibility for this situation. I would not recommend staying at this hotel due to the serious health and safety issues and the inadequate response from the management.

No alojamos en una habitación doble con baño privado y podemos decir que fue una gran elección. Desde el principio la atención por parte de los gerentes fue estupenda, aportando soluciones ante nuestra hora de llegada, cuando la recepción ya había cerrado. La habitación estaba cuidada y muy limpia. Contaba con todo lo necesario incluso con secador. La temperatura dentro de las instalaciones era muy agradable. El comedor estaba bien organizado y limpio, ofrecían desayuno por 4 euros, tipo bufet. La localización era estupenda, muy cerca del centro y de la estación de tren. Sin duda lo recomendamos 100%

Location quite far from the center , it’s about 25 mins to center by walk , it’s quiet area and no much restaurant or shops near by , we need to walk to center for some meals, room is clean and all staff are nice.

A little disappointed with the decor, quite run down and desperate for a refurbishment staff on the other hand were excellent and very attentive. Unfortunately being of low cost, attracts some of the wrong sort of clientele, too! We suffered with noisy people partying until 2am when we finally decided enough was enough and tried ringing reception, phone didn’t work, so personal visit to reception sorted the issue. Non-smoking rooms, stunk of smoke. Otherwise clean and reasonable beds. Breakfast was ok.
