I’ll preface this review by saying I would recommend this hotel, and it is likely one of the best of a limited number of options near the Grand Canyon. This is a beautiful property. It stands out from the street, it’s in a great location, and has a “grand” feeling walking into the lobby. The rooms are modern and even the standard rooms have plenty of amenities. The attached bar and restaurant are convenient and are nice places to be. Ample vending machines throughout the property, in addition to the gift shop, you almost don’t need to leave the hotel for anything. That’s what makes it such a shame the hotel lacks the necessary staff and management. When we arrived, someone with a complaint somehow managed to take down the entire front desk. After many hours of driving, it was frustrating that this incident had been allowed to form a large check-in line. Then just as we received our room assignment on the third floor, the solitary elevator broke down. We had to carry our luggage up the stairs to the third floor with the assistance of a solitary staff member. I can’t blame the staff for the breakdown, but it certainly could have been better handled. (I’ve also never seen such a large hotel with a single elevator.) The pool was open but unfortunately the hot tub was surrounded with caution tape, apparently indefinitely out of service. It was also frustrating when we attempted to visit the saloon one afternoon we found it closed with no indication of when it would open, despite the website claiming it was open. You can see the pattern forming here. In summary, as other reviewers have noted, this hotel suffers from a lack of staffing and inadequate management, and the property deserves better.

The location couldn’t have been better!! Exceeds expectations on every level So greatful to be so close to the hotel after hiking the canyon. We never had to wait long for a seat in the restaurant without having reservations. Even lucky to get a window seat at breakfast. Had breakfast lunch and dinner there and the food was outstanding Sat on the porch every night enjoying a bottle of wine we brought from Sedona wineries There was a piano player on Saturday night we also enjoyed. You will definitely feel like you are somewhere special If you are lucky

Our accommodations at Maswik Lodge were wonderful! First off, I had booked a king room for myself and two kids. Which would have been fine, pickings were slim when I made the reservation. The girls at the check in desk were more than happy to switch us to two queens without me even asking. They were very friendly. We were in one of the new Maswik South Buildings, Shasta. It was modern, clean, cozy and comfy. The complimentary toiletries smelled soooo good! The beds were perfect, we had a huge room and a huuuuuuuge balcony that had to have been 35+ feet long. The bathroom with the sliding barn door and modern fixtures was great to take a hot shower after a long day. The air conditioning worked well, parking was easy, it’s a quick walk to the rim. The main lodge food court left some things to be desired, but that’s to be expected from grab and go food. The mini fridge in the room did freeze most of my food and I couldn’t figure out how to adjust it. As far as it being farther away than the other lodges, I preferred to be away from the droves of people at the end of our day. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and I’d absolutely book again!

The lodge is old and dated as are most of them at the Grand Canyon, however, that being said, the view is absolutely amazing. Our room faced the Grand Canyon and it said partial view but it was an unobstructed view of the Southern Rim of the Grand Canyon. The morning view with the sun rising is absolutely breathtaking. We could see it from our room and it made one side of the canyon a vivid red. However, we got so excited we got up and went out to watch the rest of the sunrise. Mind you it is steps from your window. We got up to a couple of deer standing right next to the Kachina. The bed was comfortable and the linens were in good shape and towels were thick and absorbent. If we were to go back to the Grand Canyon, we would definitely stay here again. Our friends were in a newer lodge a little away from us which was nice but their sliding doors opened to a parking lot and absolutely no view. So, you need to decide to View or not to View. We chose view. If this was helpful, I would so love a thumbs up. I love writing these and hope that they are helpful to someone.

This motel-style lodge is ideally located in the southwest area of the Grand Canyon Village, just a short walk from the canyon. Nestled within several acres of Ponderosa pine forest it welcomes all outdoor types. The original establishment dates back to the 1927 and was constructed by Fred Harvey Company and the Santa Fe Railroad, when travelling by automobile to the parks was quickly becoming fashionable. The only architectural component remaining from historic lodge buildings are the original stone pillar, everything else has been rebuild. The rooms feature either 2 large queen-size beds or a single king-size one and guests can request a roll-away beds if needed. For dining there is a food court from where one can grab a sandwich or other types of ready-made food and a sports bar with a wide screen TV, where to catch a game and chill with a beer.

Our friends were in a newer lodge a little away from us which was nice but their sliding doors opened to a parking lot and absolutely no view. So, you need to decide to View or not to View. The location couldn’t have been better!! Exceeds expectations on every level So greatful to be so close to the hotel after hiking the canyon. We never had to wait long for a seat in the restaurant without having reservations. Even lucky to get a window seat at breakfast. Had breakfast lunch and dinner there and the food was outstanding Sat on the porch every night enjoying a bottle of wine we brought from Sedona wineries There was a piano player on Saturday night we also enjoyed. You will definitely feel like you are somewhere special If you are lucky

Kachina Lodge - Inside the Park

The lodge is old and dated as are most of them at the Grand Canyon, however, that being said, the view is absolutely amazing. Our room faced the Grand Canyon and it said partial view but it was an unobstructed view of the Southern Rim of the Grand Canyon. The morning view with the sun rising is absolutely breathtaking. We could see it from our room and it made one side of the canyon a vivid red. However, we got so excited we got up and went out to watch the rest of the sunrise. Mind you it is steps from your window. We got up to a couple of deer standing right next to the Kachina. The bed was comfortable and the linens were in good shape and towels were thick and absorbent. If we were to go back to the Grand Canyon, we would definitely stay here again. Our friends were in a newer lodge a little away from us which was nice but their sliding doors opened to a parking lot and absolutely no view. So, you need to decide to View or not to View. We chose view. If this was helpful, I would so love a thumbs up. I love writing these and hope that they are helpful to someone.

I’ll preface this review by saying I would recommend this hotel, and it is likely one of the best of a limited number of options near the Grand Canyon. This is a beautiful property. It stands out from the street, it’s in a great location, and has a “grand” feeling walking into the lobby. The rooms are modern and even the standard rooms have plenty of amenities. The attached bar and restaurant are convenient and are nice places to be. Ample vending machines throughout the property, in addition to the gift shop, you almost don’t need to leave the hotel for anything. That’s what makes it such a shame the hotel lacks the necessary staff and management. When we arrived, someone with a complaint somehow managed to take down the entire front desk. After many hours of driving, it was frustrating that this incident had been allowed to form a large check-in line. Then just as we received our room assignment on the third floor, the solitary elevator broke down. We had to carry our luggage up the stairs to the third floor with the assistance of a solitary staff member. I can’t blame the staff for the breakdown, but it certainly could have been better handled. (I’ve also never seen such a large hotel with a single elevator.) The pool was open but unfortunately the hot tub was surrounded with caution tape, apparently indefinitely out of service. It was also frustrating when we attempted to visit the saloon one afternoon we found it closed with no indication of when it would open, despite the website claiming it was open. You can see the pattern forming here. In summary, as other reviewers have noted, this hotel suffers from a lack of staffing and inadequate management, and the property deserves better.

Vreemd dat je de t****e dag van je verblijf opnieuw moet inchecken om je kamerdeur te kunnen openen. Verder is het een geweldige locatie op een steenworp van de rim, met veel faciliteiten, behulpzaam personeel, en accomodatie die helemaal in stijl is.

Our accommodations at Maswik Lodge were wonderful! First off, I had booked a king room for myself and two kids. Which would have been fine, pickings were slim when I made the reservation. The girls at the check in desk were more than happy to switch us to two queens without me even asking. They were very friendly. We were in one of the new Maswik South Buildings, Shasta. It was modern, clean, cozy and comfy. The complimentary toiletries smelled soooo good! The beds were perfect, we had a huge room and a huuuuuuuge balcony that had to have been 35+ feet long. The bathroom with the sliding barn door and modern fixtures was great to take a hot shower after a long day. The air conditioning worked well, parking was easy, it’s a quick walk to the rim. The main lodge food court left some things to be desired, but that’s to be expected from grab and go food. The mini fridge in the room did freeze most of my food and I couldn’t figure out how to adjust it. As far as it being farther away than the other lodges, I preferred to be away from the droves of people at the end of our day. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and I’d absolutely book again!
