"This hotel has both stunning scenery and exceptional hospitality, and it is truly worth staying at. The entire place is so beautiful that it feels like stepping into a scene from a movie or TV drama, making the stay itself a very special memory. The photos attached were taken during the Hanfu experience provided by the hotel. The Hanfu shown in the photos was also rented from the hotel. The hotel offers Hanfu experiences from many different regional styles, and simply trying on the Hanfu is even free of charge. However, I highly recommend also experiencing the makeup and photography services, as they will leave you with truly unforgettable photos and memories. For photography, I highly recommend 福瑞 (Fúruì). He actively guided me through different poses and expressions, so even someone who is not used to being photographed would feel comfortable in front of the camera. The final photos turned out very natural and beautiful. I especially recommend the makeup artist 欢欢 (Huānhuān). She patiently discussed outfit and makeup styles with me based on reference photos and gave suggestions that perfectly matched my personal style and atmosphere. In addition, guests can also bring their own costumes and choose only makeup or photography services. Prices vary depending on the package, but the staff will discuss your budget with you beforehand before deciding on the plan, making the experience feel very worthwhile and reasonably priced. The breakfast is also highly recommended. For only 38 RMB, you can enjoy your meal while overlooking the beautiful courtyard. The dishes are colorful and visually delightful, and they taste delicious as well. I definitely recommend trying it."

"Located a short walk from the East Gate (Erhai Gate) along Renmin Road, it's actually on the quieter stretch of Renmin Rd. Nevertheless, live music from nearby eateries are still audible. Hotel provides ear plugs though we didn't need to use them over our weekend stay. Our room isn't very big but it's comfortable. Hotel breakfast starts a bit late at 8.30am but it's delicious and filling. Umbrellas are also available and was handy on a wet night during our stay. The staff helped us arrange transfers to and fro the train station which is rather far away (40mins drive)."

"We chose this hotel for its prime location in the ancient town near the East Gate. Check-in w/ Xiaoyang was smooth and we got a room on the 3rd floor. The room was spacious and well-equipped for a comfortable stay. Given the dry climate, adding lotion would be a thoughtful touch. The hotel also provides a helpful map of the old town with sightseeing suggestions when requested. Wi-Fi was adequate and breakfast (8–10 am on the 4th floor) had a limited but acceptable selection. Daily housekeeping was consistent, replenishing water and essentials. The bed was comfortable overall. However, sound insulation is poor, you can clearly hear hallway noise and neighboring rooms. Although rooms are non-smoking, guests can smoke on nearby patio areas, which may be an issue for those sensitive to cigarette odor. The advertised outdoor swimming pool is more decorative than functional. We appreciated Xiaotian for accommodating a late checkout after a restless night from neighbors' noise. Overall, a decent stay by local standards, though clearly geared toward domestic travelers with no English support on signage and verbal communication. It would be difficult for non Mandarin speaking guests as translation apps aren't ideal per my husband's input."

But what impressed me most was the hospitality and service—especially from Joy. From picking us up at the train station, to helping us arrange an EV bike rental (even though we eventually decided not to), to personally taking us to dinner and recommending dishes, trusting us with her dog Hamburg, and specially arranging for us to be dropped off at the station when we left even though she was busy with work. Joy made sure everything was well taken care of. She is a true asset to the guesthouse: friendly, sincere in her kind gestures without expecting anything in return, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. What we admire most is that Joy treats her dog as a family member. She is truly a person filled with loving kindness and will always be blessed for this. The part we appreciated most was getting to spend quality time with her dog, Hamburg, who brought us so much happiness and filled our days with joy. Hamburg is a loving dog with a heart of gold. Anyone especially dog lovers would truly fall in love with him. Together, Joy and Hamburg make the best combination. They brought smiles and joy to us. They are the real assets of the place. We hope they will be greatly rewarded. Thank you, Joy, for giving us the best souvenir in China—Hamburg's most loved toy. This is the best gift ever! Miki served us breakfast every morning with a smile and was always at the reception keeping Hamburg company. She not only looks after him but also make sure he is in good hands, safe and happily running about. Miki carried Hamburg to bid us farewell. She also updated us on Hamburg's progress daily, which we greatly appreciated. knowing that he is happy made us happy.👍 Most importantly, the owner, Krystina, made us feel at home and welcomed. She has a warm personality, is friendly, and treats her staff like family. She is also in the midst of learning English for self-improvement. She has the willingness to learn and the kind of down-to-earth attitude that most hotel owners don't. We felt comfortable being with her, and she even hosted a farewell dinner for us. What we love most is that she is an animal lover and even included Hamburg in the dinner. She has a heart full of compassion. We had a great time together, and the night ended with smiles and laughter. We started as strangers but ended as friends.🙂 We were reluctant to leave after three nights, and if given the chance, we would love to extend our stay to a week in the future. This place is truly a gem, thanks to the wonderful management and the people behind it. We will surely recommend friends to your guesthouse—it is a gem hidden in Dali. With its grey-tiled roofs, white walls, and beautifully carved wooden structures, the space carries a quiet sense of history and elegance. The courtyard features water elements, stone paths, and blue and yellow lanterns that create beautiful layers of light and shadow during the day. At night, the soft lighting outlines the architecture and gives the entire space a warm, cinematic atmosphere. The common areas are equally charming, with a stone-built fireplace, vintage furniture, and art pieces thoughtfully placed throughout. The design blends traditional Eastern aesthetics with modern touches, creating a space that feels both timeless and refined. Comfort with thoughtful details Our room was spacious, bright, and very comfortable. A stone feature wall behind the bed, paired with soft bedding and warm lighting, created a subtle sense of “wild luxury” while still feeling cosy and relaxed. Opening the window reveals the courtyard view — waking up to birdsong in the morning and watching the lanterns glow in the evening adds a special charm to the stay. Warm and attentive service From booking to check-out, the hosts were welcoming and attentive. Upon arrival, they introduced the history of the house and highlighted the design features of the property, and were happy to recommend nearby restaurants and local spots to explore. The afternoon tea was beautifully presented, with fresh fruit and delicate snacks — perfect for enjoying a slow afternoon in the courtyard. Breakfast included some local Bai-style flavours, simple yet delicious, and a lovely way to start the day. A peaceful location near the old town The guesthouse is tucked away in Zhongyin Village at the foot of Cangshan Mountain, about a 15-minute drive from Dali Ancient Town. It offers a quiet retreat away from the crowds while still being conveniently close to the main attractions. Surrounded by village life and forested hills, the air feels fresh and full of the scent of nature. More than just a place to stay, Mutian Time feels like a living piece of art. It brought a sense of calm and poetry to our trip to Dali. The room was comfortable and big enough for a group of three people (love the view). The bosses and staff were all friendly too! We especially loved the breakfast provided (look at the spread, there was so much food ranging from western to chinese and even a large variety of fruits). We would rebook this accomodation with no hesitation!

YYuki Serene AngI had an extremely enjoyable stay at Mr Ma’s accommodation. From the moment we arrived, he greeted us with genuine warmth and sincere hospitality. Throughout our stay, he assisted us with every need and often went out of his way to ensure we were comfortable. We loved our time here so much that we extended our stay to a total of six nights! We were deeply touched by his generosity and the thoughtfulness he showed every single day. Each morning, he checked in on us, asked if we had slept well, and made sure we had everything we needed. This is a family-run accommodation, and every member of the Ma family was friendly, warm, and welcoming. Mr Ma even took special care to accommodate my daughter’s cat allergy by keeping their cats away from the common areas — a gesture we truly appreciated. One of the highlights of our stay was the meaningful conversations we shared with the family. We exchanged stories about our respective countries, shared insights about our cultures, and learned so much from one another. These heartfelt chats made our stay feel even more personal, and we genuinely enjoyed connecting on a deeper level beyond the usual host–guest interactions. The room facilities were excellent — warm blankets, electric heating pads, newly installed air-conditioners, towels, a hair dryer, and a kettle. And every morning, we were greeted with a comforting bowl of noodles lovingly prepared by Mrs Ma — such a heartwarming way to start the day. The location is ideal as well: close to the bustling streets and ancient town, with the mountains and lake just nearby. We enjoyed sitting on the top-floor balcony in the cool, crisp morning air, taking in the peaceful mountain views. Mrs Ma also shared wonderful food recommendations, all of which we thoroughly enjoyed. During our stay, we met international travellers from France, and the Ma family communicated effortlessly using translation apps. It’s clear they have plenty of experience hosting guests from around the world. We also made a short trip to Lijiang, arranged through Mr Ma’s recommendation — a comfortable 9-seater car that picked us up directly from the accommodation and dropped us off at our next destination. I highly, highly recommend this accommodation to anyone visiting the area. I am deeply grateful for the kindness and warmth shown to us throughout our stay — right up until the moment we left, when Mr Ma personally helped us with our luggage. Before you leave, be sure to take a photo with the family, and don’t miss the chance to chat with Mr Ma’s son, who is very eager to practise English with travellers. JJovin_WongI had an absolutely wonderful stay at Dali Ancient Town Meishan Guesthouse, and it exceeded my expectations in every possible way. Location – unbeatable and worry-free The location is extremely convenient, right in the heart of Dali Ancient Town. As soon as you step outside, you’re surrounded by beautiful ancient streets and alleys, full of local character. 2-3 mins walk away from the Bars. Attractions, cafes, shops, and amazing food are all within walking distance, which made exploring incredibly easy and stress-free. From check-in to check-out, the entire stay felt completely worry-free. Service – warm, genuine, and unforgettable The biggest highlight of this guesthouse is without a doubt the host. The lady boss is unbelievably friendly, considerate, and welcoming. She is super nice, enthusiastic, and very meticulous in everything she does. From contacting me in advance, patiently explaining routes, to sharing travel tips and local suggestions, she made me feel taken care of even before I arrived. Staying here truly felt like coming home rather than staying at a guesthouse. What made this stay truly special was the personal connection. She even invited me to join a barbecue with her and her friends. We had drinks, chatted late into the night, and shared stories about our cultures, life views, and experiences. Even though I only stayed for two nights, that evening made my time in Dali unforgettable. I felt incredibly lucky to have arrived back just in time for the barbecue. The Bai Jiu, the Yi Zu-style barbecue pork, and the homemade dumplings she made were all fantastic. The atmosphere was relaxed, warm, and full of laughter. Even small details were fun, like the pot cover shaped like the Rolls-Royce Spirit of Ecstasy, which gave us a good laugh. It was one of those nights you don’t plan for, but it’s the highlight of the trip that you will remember for a long time. 😎 Room & Sleep Quality – quiet, comfortable, and well designed The room itself was quiet and very comfortable, with good sound insulation and a thoughtful renovation design that blends modern comfort with traditional charm. The bedding was clean and high quality, and the bathroom was spotless and well equipped. I slept extremely well every night. The entire guesthouse is beautifully designed, cozy, and relaxing, making it easy to unwind after a day of exploring. Value – exquisite and worth every penny This is a highly cost-effective and exquisite accommodation. You can see the attention to detail everywhere, from the design to the service. It perfectly balances the charm of the ancient town with modern convenience. It’s absolutely worth experiencing, and I would not hesitate to stay here again on my next trip. Final thoughts I returned home a few days ago, but when I think back on my trip to Yunnan, Dali still stands out as the most chill and relaxing place and Meishan Guesthouse is a big reason why. The friendly host, the warm atmosphere, and the meaningful conversations made this stay truly special. If I could give 11 stars, I would. Hands down one of the best places I’ve ever stayed. Highly, highly recommended. Will definitely be back!!!

DDELWYNTI had an amazing stay at Anyu Dali, and their hospitality truly exceeded my expectations. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly helpful, assisting us with our luggage and even coordinating with the Didi driver when we were rushing to catch our railway. They went above and beyond by providing weather updates for our next destination, Lijiang, and noticing that we were unprepared for the cold, they thoughtfully gave us heat pads. As first-time guests, we were treated to complimentary afternoon tea and breakfast, as well as four free laundry items for washing. The welcome gift was a lovely touch, and they even prepared a warm nighttime drink before bedtime, making our stay feel extra special. What really stood out was their attention to detail—even knowing that we would be staying at Anyu Lijiang next, they arranged to give us our farewell gift there, considering our luggage was already full. The level of service here surpasses that of many well-known hotels, and I will definitely choose Anyu again the next time I visit China. Highly recommended for those who appreciate genuine hospitality!

He went out of his way to provide excellent advice on where to visit in Dali, which made my trip even more enjoyable. Overall, this is a hidden gem that offers a unique experience, combining traditional aesthetics with warm hospitality. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and memorable stay in Dali!
