Oriental aesthetics in every corner The guesthouse is converted from a century-old traditional Bai courtyard house. With its grey-tiled roofs, white walls, and beautifully carved wooden structures, the space carries a quiet sense of history and elegance. The courtyard features water elements, stone paths, and blue and yellow lanterns that create beautiful layers of light and shadow during the day. At night, the soft lighting outlines the architecture and gives the entire space a warm, cinematic atmosphere. The common areas are equally charming, with a stone-built fireplace, vintage furniture, and art pieces thoughtfully placed throughout. The design blends traditional Eastern aesthetics with modern touches, creating a space that feels both timeless and refined. Comfort with thoughtful details Our room was spacious, bright, and very comfortable. A stone feature wall behind the bed, paired with soft bedding and warm lighting, created a subtle sense of “wild luxury” while still feeling cosy and relaxed. Opening the window reveals the courtyard view — waking up to birdsong in the morning and watching the lanterns glow in the evening adds a special charm to the stay. Warm and attentive service From booking to check-out, the hosts were welcoming and attentive. Upon arrival, they introduced the history of the house and highlighted the design features of the property, and were happy to recommend nearby restaurants and local spots to explore. The afternoon tea was beautifully presented, with fresh fruit and delicate snacks — perfect for enjoying a slow afternoon in the courtyard. Breakfast included some local Bai-style flavours, simple yet delicious, and a lovely way to start the day. A peaceful location near the old town The guesthouse is tucked away in Zhongyin Village at the foot of Cangshan Mountain, about a 15-minute drive from Dali Ancient Town. It offers a quiet retreat away from the crowds while still being conveniently close to the main attractions. Surrounded by village life and forested hills, the air feels fresh and full of the scent of nature. More than just a place to stay, Mutian Time feels like a living piece of art. It brought a sense of calm and poetry to our trip to Dali. Lovely small hotel, nice design, great location. The staff were very nice and helpful. We enjoyed the afternoon tea and also the milk and soup before bedtime were lovely. With the calm style of the hotel, I would prefer a ”over 14/16” policy, as tge kids staying there could be heard throughout the property, taking away from the calm and peacefulness.

The hotel offers a lot of services which add value to the stay experience. There were self-serve fresh coffee and a variety of herbs/ flower tea selection at the lobby, free laundry services, afternoon high tea and night dessert. We really appreciate passing our clothes which required laundry to the staff and return to collect freshly laundry clothes. The staff is reachable easily via WeChat. They also offer complimentary pick up from the train station. If I really have to pick on something - there is no view in the room I stayed in even though it was bright and spacious. Overall highly recommend a stay.

We stayed here from 12–15 May during our honeymoon and decided to do our Yunnan trip entirely on our own. Dali was our first destination after landing in Kunming the night before, and it turned out to be the perfect start to our journey. Since our train arrived early at around 9:00 AM, I contacted the host a few days in advance to ask if an early check-in would be possible. Not only were they happy to accommodate our request, but they also kindly offered to pick us up from the station. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by our host, Mei, who gave us a tour of the property after check-in. The hotel exceeded our expectations. The architecture is absolutely stunning, from the outside, it feels like staying in a beautiful traditional palace within the old town, while the interior is thoughtfully modernized with every comfort you could need. Our room was incredibly spacious, and we especially loved the heated bathroom floors and the bidet, which was a pleasant surprise. There is also a rooftop area where guests can enjoy a beautiful sunrise view. Breakfast was another highlight of our stay. Guests are given several options, and parts of the menu change daily, which kept things interesting. What we looked forward to most every morning was the amazing yogurt served with homemade rose jam, it was honestly the best we've ever had. We mentioned how much we loved it, and at the end of our stay, Mei surprised us with a jar to take home. Such a thoughtful gesture! Every evening, the hotel served a warm dessert, introducing us to flavors that were completely new yet delicious. We were also treated to a complimentary afternoon tea. To make our honeymoon even more special, Mei and her team surprised us with a personalized cake, which was incredibly touching. The location is very convenient, with several Muslim-friendly eateries within a 10-minute walk, as well as convenience stores nearby. What truly sets this place apart, however, is the hospitality. Out of all the accommodations we stayed at during our Yunnan trip, this was by far the best. Mei went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, constantly sharing recommendations, travel tips, and local insights to help us make the most of our time in Dali. We genuinely felt cared for throughout our stay. I would highly recommend this hotel, especially for honeymooners and newlyweds looking for a memorable and heartfelt experience. InsyaAllah, we will definitely return on our future trips to Dali.

Excellent boutique hotel at the fringe of Dali ancient city. Walking distance to the 3 Pagodas, with an excellent view of Cangshan mountain in the background. Hotel beautifully landscaped, lots of greenery with outdoor seating to relax and listed to birds chirping. Room was clean and well maintained. Snacks , drinks and fruits refilled daily. Only negative was the extra bed for my child. Very hard mattress and the frame squeaks and groans when someone moves on it. They should upgrade this. Service was excellent . Six stars! Warm, friendly and thoughtful. Always with a smile and willing to help. We did a little laundry and was drying by the bathtub. Housekeeping noticed and brought in a clothes rack and hung the clothes in the courtyard so it dries better. Wonderful initiative! We did many food deliveries and they happily brought it to our room. Manager was great also. Always checking if we were ok and ready to provide helpful tips. Restaurant was good. Breakfast was limited but good quality and sufficient. Dinner was ok as well, local cuisine. On our departure, they gave us fruits , snacks and water for our onward trip. Highly recommended

I cannot recommend Sunyata Homestay in Dali enough! From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this was more than just a place to stay—it was an experience of genuine warmth and care. The rooms were impeccably clean and comfortable, providing a serene escape after long days of exploring. The afternoon tea and breakfast they served were nothing short of extraordinary. I’ve stayed in multiple 4-5 star hotels across China over the past month, but the gourmet food here easily surpassed them all. Every bite was thoughtfully prepared, leaving me in awe of the flavors and quality. The location of Sunyata Homestay is also perfect. It’s just far enough from the bustling crowds to remain peaceful and quiet, yet close enough to Dali Ancient City that it’s only a few steps away from great eateries and the heart of the ancient town. The balance is ideal for anyone seeking convenience without sacrificing tranquility. A special shout-out to the young lady working in the coffee shop up front—her coffee is unparalleled! My husband, who is a daily coffee drinker and rarely impressed, couldn’t stop raving about her brews. It was, hands down, the best coffee we had during our travels. The staff here deserve every bit of praise. They were attentive, accommodating, and genuinely cared about making our stay memorable. However, what truly sets Sunyata apart is the incredible owner. My father had a bad accident in Dali on a rainy day, and I can honestly say I don’t know what I would have done without his support. Despite my limited Mandarin, he spent an entire day accompanying me to the hospital, ensuring we were well cared for and understood. The next day, he went out of his way to pick up the CT scans for us. His kindness and compassion left me speechless. The owner’s dedication to his guests is reflected in his amazing team, all of whom go above and beyond. Without his help, I would have had to cut my trip to China short. Instead, he turned a difficult situation into one where we felt supported and cared for like family. Sunyata Homestay is truly one of a kind, and I will forever be grateful for their hospitality. This is not just a place to stay; it’s a haven of comfort, care, and culinary delights. Thank you, Sunyata, for everything!

Terdapat pelembap (sangat penting untuk orang selatan!) dan pembesar suara adalah dari Dyson. ! Overall experience average at Dali Ocean hotel Not up to expectation for the price paid for a should be kids-friendly five star hotel in China. eg: breakfast not much choice, and also not feeling very welcome by front desk staff. When i called them through phone, they just hang up the phone without me finishing the conversation yet, this shock me. Hotel not really kids friendly. Normally what I expect from a 5 star hotel which is into kids theme hotel should be more friendly to kids like giving out some small gifts for little ones, but Dali Ocean Hotel did not have such thing. And also price paid not include visiting the oceanarium. Unexpectedly the dinner we ordered through hotel restaurant and truffle pizza (complimentary in my package) are delicious. Room view Ok, can stay for a night to experience it yourself.
