We really enjoyed our family stay (6 nights) at the Hiramatsu Kyoto. The room and food were great but what made it an amazing experience was the staff. Everyone was very kind, attentive, helpful and patient. The food was great and we enjoyed different breakfast menu everyday. Specially, we loved the miso fish and vegetables at the Izumi and the risotto at the Luce. Also, they had a Kids course that considering my son food restrictions, and he really enjoyed. The room was gorgeous, new and spacious. We had more than enough space for a family of three. Finally, as our first trip since the beginning of the pandemic, we were keen to avoid crowded restaurants and ensure social distance. The staff was very understanding and they accommodated such request so we could enjoy the delicious food without concerns. Special thanks for Sophie that started helping us even before our reservation. We really enjoyed our stay, so we highly recommend this hotel.

Service: Excellent service from hotel staff, spoke English, accommodating, helpful and cheerful. Location : Quiet area, right next to a train station exit, convenient location. It is close to Kyoto Station by taxi ( approx 5-10 mins), located at an intersection and was easy to grab a taxi. It is not located that close to the main Kyoto shopping street, but it's just a peaceful 5-10 minutes walk away from the main stretch of shopping and food areas. Great to explore the quiet side of Kyoto. Lawson mart just opposite, the quiet lane opposite had lots of quaint cafes and bakeries. What a wonderful find just walking through the little lanes opposite. Away from tourists crowds, immersed in local Kyoto city vibes. Room style and space: Room furnishing decor colours were so soothing, stylish pale sage greens, light cream and oak, modern and pleasant , light cream tones. Fantastic huge single beds and pillows, fluffy and clean pillows, huge sofa, strong showers from rain shower in bathroom. Loved every corner in my corner room. Spacious work desk at the corner, perfect for a working business trip. The balcony flanked the entire room length.. absolutely wonderful.. sat outside on the balcony and people watched. Bathroom amenities and products included face and body moisturizers, combs etc, all wrapped in classic stylish Japanese style. Perks: We received daily vouchers which we could use for lounge cocktail hour (free flow great selections of wines, beers, sake, hot drinks etc drinks and snacks) or for high tea set in the lounge area. The lounge area was so cozy. Wonderful vibes. High tea set was amazing, provided by famous patissierie that's located in the hotel lobby. Wonderful chill experience just before we head out for daily dinners. Facilities: We checked out the mist room and onsen.. so clean and stylish. Felt like we were at a W hotel. Overall super fantastic experience, wonderful ambience, rooms were new, stylish and cleanliness was top notch. Property itself is very new and modern. Perfect for solo or couples. Very quiet (some traffic noise, but not a big deal), peaceful neighborhood, chic furnishings. I loved my stay in Nov so much, I will stay again in future. Downside: The rooms face a few offices opposite, windows are not coated with opaque film.. so just be aware and not walk around underdressed in the room in full view of opposite buildings. Windows are definitely see through! Nothing the day curtains can't fix.

After staying at minshukus, ryokans and western-style hotels over the last several days, it was a pleasure to end our Japan stay with 2 nights at Kyoto Machiya Fukune. The 2 of us appreciated the extra space of the Sangen machiya compared to our previous lodgings to just chill out, especially when soaking in your personal outdoor hot water (not onsen) bath or the indoor hinoki bath and looking out onto the compact zen garden. Beds were comfortable and bathrooms modern and clean. The included mini-bar (Asahi beer, sake, soft drinks and water) was an unexpected bonus! The welcome tea ceremony with traditional sweets (much better than that offered with the included entry price at the Okochi Sanso Garden in Arashiyama) was a far superior greeting than fronting a hotel reception desk even if one has to wait (about 10 mins) for Miki to arrive (which was forewarned in the pre-stay info); we were informed of our security code when we rang (using the complimentary phone in the separate arrival area) and could access the machiya while waiting. Miki was very helpful with local restaurant and sightseeing tips. Excellent pre-stay information was provided via email from Kyoto Machiya Fukune. While we didn’t use the laundry (complimentary) we did make use of the locker, which we found could store 2 large suitcases and 2 carry-on luggage with room leftover for shopping bags. It cost us ¥1500 for taxi/uber from JR Kyoto stn to the machiya. Once there it is only several minutes’ walk to various train stns or bus stops. Nishiki mkt’s western entrance is about a 10min walk away. This was my 3rd time in Kyoto with the goal to visit sights we hadn’t seen previously like Arashiyama’s bamboo grove and Fushimi Inari shrine. The Randen line’s Shijo-Omiya stn is just over 10mins walk away and the tram takes you into the heart of Arashiyama’s shopping *****, the Kimino forest and near the Tongetsu-kyo bridge. Then take your time to walk to the bamboo grove via Tenryo-ji shrine. They say it best to get to the grove early to beat the tourists, but it rained in the morning, so we took our time and got to the grove about lunch-time. While crowded, it wasn’t as packed as what we thought it would be, given it was a Sunday and also ‘golden week’ (maybe people were eating lunch). We also walked to and visited the Nison-in temple that was recommended by Miki; she highlighted the moss that covered a lot of the grounds; a very worthwhile diversion and IMHO better than the Okochi Sanso Garden we also visited). Had a late lunch in the local area then walked to JR’s Saga-Arashiyama stn; ¥220 to JR’s Inari stn (simple transfer at JR Kyoto stn) with the Fushimi Inari shrine entrance across the road. The place is pricey, but we’re glad we stayed here.

I am absolutely glad we booked this hotel. The main reason we booked this is because there is a washer/dryer in every room. We booked the family room and they are all located at the Anex building. The main building and Anex building are seperated by about 3 blocks. It is just a few seconds walk from the main building to the Anex building. There are no hotel staffs stationed at the Anex building though, so if you need assistance you need to phone them or walk to the main building. There are free coffee machine, tea, ice, hot water and various amenities located at the lobbies of both building. The location of this hotel is a short 5mins walk to the subway station and a 2mins walk to 7-11 convenient storeand 6mins walk to McDonald's and Lawson convenient store. The hotel is beautifully furnished with modern touch to the rustic buidling of Kyoto. The family room that we chose consist of Futons and Modern Beds. There is a humidifier in the room Shower water pressure is very strong Wifi signals are fantastic. TV is at least 46 inch wide Multiple charging ports available even at the headboard section of the beds. Just like other hotels in Japan, you need to stay over a certain number of nights for them to do daily house keeping. However, they do provide changing of towels Daily as long as you stick the magnet label outside your room door before you head off for the day. They just dont make your bed or wash your toilet, etc. The shower, conditioner, etc are of the famous Polar brand. The only thing that i wish to criticise is that the staffs don't speak good English, and i am fully aware that i am in Japan and Japanese don't speak good english, but the hotel staffs being in this industry should at least have a certain degree of basic understanding of English language. I will give an example, I am requesting for new bottle of Shower Soap, they do not understand and had to send a personnel to my room to see what i meant. I am requesting that they change the battery of the safe box in my room due to low battery and they had to transfer the phone call 2 times to finally get what i meant. Just take note that you will need to be patient when speaking to them to get them to understand what your inquiries are. Every staff holds a handheld device for translation purposes though. Besides the slight annoyance due to language barrier, this hotel deserves way more than 3 stars hotel ranking, it felt more like a 4 stars hotel. Absolutely fantastic and deserved praise. I would definitely stay here again in future.

Booked this hotel after researching on Tripadvisor. I was very happy with my stay. The hotel was in a great location, close to the subway station, plenty of shops, restaurants and convenience stores all within walking distance. It was easy to get to all of the sites we wanted to see. Staff were very polite, friendly and incredibly nice. The rooms are absolutely huge and especially when compared to Japanese rooms in general and are well equiped, the bed was maybe the biggest I have ever slept on. My wife and I were on our honeymoon and they left chocolates, rose petals and a swan towel which was very appreciated. If I had one negative it was that the room keys are physical keys and if the hotel is reading this I recommend changing to electronic cards. It didn't dampen our stay at all but just thought I would mention it. Overall I definitely recommend the hotel and would stay again if I was visiting Kyoto.

The hotel couldn't find my booking and we spent quite a lot of time checking in as a result, but eventually that was resolved. Staff were friendly and rooms were clean. The shower you had to hold the nozzle or else it would spray all over the bathroom, which was a bit annoying. Beds were a bit on the hard side, but I personally like a slightly softer but supportive mattress. The AC has a very bright light that can make it hard to sleep if the unit is running at night.

あいにくの大雨注意報の出る中での宿泊とはなった。しかし、館内は別天地であった。オフィスや飲食店が入るビルに囲まれていはいるが、中に入ると緑に囲まれた静寂に包まれた。コロナで、この七月から再開されたばかりで、タ宿泊客もまだ戻っていなかったこともあり、貸し切り状態で、何度もゆっくり温泉につかり、ゆったり過ごすことができた。フロントの方も仲居さんも丁寧で気持ちよく、お料理もセンス良く、きれいで、一品一品に、さすが京都の老舗旅館のおもてなしを実感できるものでした。宿泊客が少なく、大浴場に入れなかったのが残念でしたが、また訪れたいと思います。

This was a rare negative experience for us in Japan. Despite booking a room that explicitly mentioned two single beds and a sofa bed (for 4 persons, including two children age 6 and 9), we only found two single beds. Even after adding the sofa bed, the room, aside from being crammed for four people, had only three beds. Apparently the property thinks it's fine to sleep in a single bed with a nine year old (or a six year old even), so keep that in mind. Id be curious to know at what age one stops being a child and can sleep in their bed according to this property. Not sure whether this is common but I've never seen anything like this. The hotel does look great as the reception area is a renovated ancient wooden house, even though the breakfast room can only host less than twenty people. Considering that the rooms are inside a big building behind the old house, that expectedly causes problems. On the first morning there were only slots at 9 15 so we had our breakfast in our room. Breakfast is very hardcore Japanese (to us at least), it went fairly untouched even I don't doubt it has the greatest possible delicacies. I don't think its prepared at the property as it comes cold in a bento box. Considering the price, overall an unacceptable experience.

There are many things to like about this hotel but let me start with the most important- its people. I must give special thanks to the Front Office Manager- Yuki. On one of the nights, I had unfortunately developed a high fever- coming from abroad, I was in an anxious state about the care I may receive or what my next steps should be. All the hospitals in the surrounding area were full and could not accept walk ins. We rang the front desk and the manager Yuki reassured us that he would assist in ensuring I received proper medical attention asap. He made a few calls to his personal network and sure enough within minutes he had secured us a slot at a local hospital, arranging everything for us to ensure we were attended to immediately by the hospital staff and effectively treated. He went out of his way to help arrange the transport and did it all in the most warm, friendly demeanour. Just interacting with him had put me at ease and the extent he went to help was incredible. I had never experienced such personalised care from one of the hotel staff in my life and have stayed at multiple properties both locally and globally- Thank you Yuki, you were truly amazing and I hope to see you in Singapore! Location wise the hotel is situated pretty centrally - you've got access to multiple convenient stores, train station, bus stops and the area is relatively quiet and peaceful. Rooms were spacious enough and clean too.

Abbiamo soggiornato per 7 notti in questo hotel a Kyoto vicino alla fermata Karasuma Oike della metropolitana. Estremamente comodo per gli spostamenti. La stanza era abbastanza grande per gli standard giapponesi e il prezzo anche molto onesto considerato che c’era di mezzo la fioritura dei ciliegi. Buona anche la colazione con una marmellata alla fragola magnifica. Ovviamente non aspettatevi una colazione occidentale, molto salato poco dolce ma tutto sommato andava più che bene

Ia sangat mudah kerana ia adalah 5 minit berjalan kaki dari Shijo Karasuma. Sebaik sahaja saya memasuki hotel, ia adalah indah! Saya gembira bahawa saat saya memasuki bilik datang. We had mixed reviews of this accomodation Pros - was a very large room two small doubles and a bunk perfect for families. Amenities are great with wifi, lots of kitchen utensils, stove, tea and coffee supplied, toothbrushes available, washing machine and tablets are provided with an inbuilt dryer system in the bathroom. Bathroom and shower area was also spacious. Beds are on the okay side but could be softer. The area itself is nice and quiet with a bus stop right out from we utilised every day, supermarket and Lawsons are across the road and you feel very safe. Would recommend for families. Cons - check in is in a different location 20minute taxi away so we had to catch a train to the check in office when arriving in Kyoto from Osaka, then a taxi to the accomodation after this which chewed up a few hours as we had to wait 45min in addition to check in due to busyness of the office. The area is a bit out of the way of everything next time I might consider staying at a different resi stay location closer to sights and facilities like shops etc. All the restaurants in the area seem to not open for breakfast until 11am so we had to have McDonald’s if we didn’t want to cook or travel too far for breakfast as we have a toddler (early riser). Same occurred at dinner time a lot of restaurants didn’t seem to be open the Monday or Tuesday we were there or opened too late for us (we travelled with a four year old). Our last disappointment was resi stay apparently have a strict not noise at night policy however another room partied until about 3am but there is no front desk or after hours phone number to call to complain / get the noise to stop. Was very frustrating as walls were very thin so we didn’t sleep very well. Overall we would stay with Resi Stay again but at another location due to Nishijin being a bit too out of the way for us.

Cet hôtel tout neuf qui a ouvert le 29 septembre 2023 est bien localisé à un coin de rue du croisement des deux lignes de métro de Kyoto. Son nom étonnant réfère sans doute au « lounge » du rez-de-chaussée ouvert 24 heures par jour où on offre du café et des jus de fruit à volonté en plus d’une dizaine de types de pain différents (variant selon l’heure, des croissants étant par exemple offerts le matin et des feuilletés au fromage en fin de journée). Une agréable musique d’ambiance y est diffusée et les fauteuils et sofas y sont très confortables. Soulignons de plus les éléments suivants : • les chambres sont de taille très moyenne mais bien aménagées et lumineuses; • une bouteille de plastique réutilisable est offerte à l’arrivée pour qu’on puisse garder de l’eau au frais dans le petit frigo de la chambre; • le personnel est avenant, parlant toutefois peu l’anglais ou d’autres langues que le japonais; • l’hôtel est encore en rodage et il est arrivé un matin (sur 11) que le lounge était à l’abandon, dépourvu de pains et de jus, les glaçons ayant fondu dans le bac; il n’y avait personne au comptoir de réception; • le ménage des chambres est fait à fond quotidiennement avec changement des draps à la demande; • la buanderie (payante) offre une seule lessiveuse et une seule sécheuse.

Everything was better than expected: service very professional, location fantastic, extra perks like baggage service, fridge with water, relaxing public bath, nice bufffet breakfast, and overall very reasonable price. Would recommend to anyone staying more than a night as well.

Booked this hotel after researching on Tripadvisor. I was very happy with my stay. The hotel was in a great location, close to the subway station, plenty of shops, restaurants and convenience stores all within walking distance. It was easy to get to all of the sites we wanted to see. Staff were very polite, friendly and incredibly nice. The rooms are absolutely huge and especially when compared to Japanese rooms in general and are well equiped, the bed was maybe the biggest I have ever slept on. My wife and I were on our honeymoon and they left chocolates, rose petals and a swan towel which was very appreciated. If I had one negative it was that the room keys are physical keys and if the hotel is reading this I recommend changing to electronic cards. It didn't dampen our stay at all but just thought I would mention it. Overall I definitely recommend the hotel and would stay again if I was visiting Kyoto.

I really recommend Ace Kyoto, it doesn’t have the traditional services like other Kyoto old hotels, but Ace is funky, vibrant and restaurants/shops around just added cherry on top
