La Fonda Heritage Hotel Luxury, Relais & Châteaux

This was a revisit to Marbella after 20 years. What a lovely welcoming operation in a seriously historic building gently and sensitively restored. We very much enjoyed our short stay helped by very friendly attentive and caring staff. Our only complain would be we couldn’t stay longer. Magical.

Wonderful and stylish heritage hotel with sensational staff who attend to your every need with a smile. Breakfast Al fresco is a delight, with fresh ingredients and a fantastic array of choices . The location is perfect to explore the Old Town and there are numerous excellent restaurants and tapas bars within easy walking distance . Can not wait to return

Beautiful and charming hotel in the middle of Old Town. Incredibly friendly staff, wonderfdul rooms and great atmosphere. All of the heritage elements elegantly woven into the refurbishment and full of character. Would abolsutely recommend staying here - we loved it. A few tips: - Only a few car parking spaces outside the hotel - there is a large underground car park 5 minutes walk away. - The food was generally excellent, but some of the puddings didn't land quite as well, maybe have an extra glass of wine instead something sweet...!

Service was great. Rooms were on the smaller size but well distributed. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The only downside was getting to the hotel. Because it is inside the old town, you have to drive through what seems to be a pedestrian street. Parking for the rest of your stay will be on a satellite parking location. It is not terribly far and is easy to get to.

Outstanding boutique hotel in lovely part of old Marbella. Very newly converted and tasteful ambiance and style.very helpful and friendly staff. We would definitely stay there again.lLots of restaurants and bars nearby and a short walk to the sea.

We have just returned home to Chicago but the memory of our stay at LaFonda Hotel in Marbella is still fresh in our minds. Having stayed at Relais & Chateaux property in the past, we felt comfortable in our expectations of the service and quality that the Hotel would deliver. The Hotel and its staff not only met expectations but exceeded them. We could talk at length about the serenity and luxury LaFonda provides, but it is the staff that truly elevates the total experience. Matteo, and the several others whose names I sadly cannot recall, took the phone figuratively out of my hand and handled all my daily requests for reservations and amenities by simply asking them. The staff that worked the breakfast room were absolutely wonderful, smiles always to start our day. I encourage anyone traveling to Marbella to seriously consider staying at LaFonda. Absolutely stunning hotel with friendly, genuine service. In the heart of Old Town, this is up there with the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. They have open air or indoor breakfast. I had scrambled eggs with him and cheese and it was exceptional. The rooms are comfortable, well equipped and quiet, despite being in the middle of town. I loved everything about this place and will stay again.

The location is superb, the building is beautiful, the hotel is boutique. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and comfy. The breakfast was good. I would recommend this place for a couple nights stay. TIP - Enjoy cocktails on the rooftop - it is wonderful. For a 5 star properly, it needs to have spa facilities otherwise at best that is 4 star (it doesn't matter how beautiful, clean, great service they have, a spa or leisure facilities is how properties receive a 5 star rating). Perhaps in the future they can enhance their offering in this regard, especially for the price you pay (it is a boutique hotel for sure with character). This would definitely make it better value for money, as it is a little pricey.

Visiting a member of Relais & Chateaux raises expectations. La Fonda Heritage met our expectations on every account. We received a warm and courteous welcome at the front desk including light refreshments and useful information about the hotel and recommended restaurants in Marbella. All amenities delivered first class from a very friendly and attentive staff, our room, common facilities such as the gourmet restaurant, the el patio breakfast and lunch restaurant and the rooftop terrace bar offering a nice view. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfasts served by a very friendly staff in pleasant surroundings. We would recommend the Eggs Benedict which we found to be of a very high quality. The hotel offers several interesting services to its guests and we took advantage of the wine tasting enjoying ourselves outdoors in el patio under the supervision of the very capable sommelier Jorge. A delightful and interesting tasting that increased our knowledge of spanish wines. We had two meals in the gourmet restaurant which complemented the high quality throughout the hotel (separate reviewed). Location is superb for exploring the old town and beaches along the golden mile promenade. We experienced an issue during our stay that we brought to the attention of the hotel management. This was solved in a most satisfactory way demonstrating a management with focus on communication, guest satisfaction and commitment for improvement. We will surely return to La Fonda Heritage…
