The host was AMAZING! She went out of her way to make Gluten Free food for one of my sons and the food was OUTSTANDING!! She even drove us to the train station when we couldn’t fit all of our luggage in a taxi. The Ryoken was clean and very comfortable. We loved it and wish we could have stayed longer!!

戸隠のそば会席を食べたくて宿泊しました。 戸隠神社の中社の近くにある旅館です。 お部屋のお茶菓子には、碓井製菓さんの落雁が用意されていました。 この碓井製菓さんの五穀大福はとっても美味しくて、旅館から歩いて5分程の距離にあります。 大浴場は小さいですが、お部屋はキレイです。 会席料理は、蕎麦を使ったお料理や季節の食材、地元の食材が使われています。 ヘルシーな内容ですが、お腹がいっぱいになるので、お食事の最後に出るざるそば分の お腹をあけておいてくださいね。

宿坊極意（ごくい）は、長野県長野市戸隠（ながのけんながのしとがくし）にある旅館だ。 もともとは寺の宿坊で1815年に建てられ、国の登録有形文化財に指定されている。 この日は2020年10月20日、戸隠神社に参拝した。 そこから車で、宿坊極意にやってきた。 紅葉している。 重厚な玄関。 入ると、参拝所がある。 今回はGOTOキャンペーンを利用しているので、格安で宿泊できた。 チェックインし、部屋へ。 今回は和室だ。 いかにも古そうな梁がむき出し。 トイレ付きの部屋を頼んだつもりが、勘違いでトイレ無しの部屋になっていた(汗；) 夕食に行くことにしたが、階段で頭を打ちそうで怖い。 夕食会場は、参拝所だ。 この日のメニュー。 魚のホイル焼き。 湯葉鍋。 椀もの。 そして、戸隠そば。 戸隠そばは、日本三大そばの一つだ。 ちゃんと「ぼっち盛り」で出された。 デザートは、フルーツ。 翌朝は、神事に参加する。 この部屋は照明が洋風で、和洋折衷なのが面白い。 神事は撮影OKだった。 たいがい撮影不可なので、これは珍しい。 神事が終わり、朝食会場のレストランへ。 メニューはこんな感じ。 食後はお土産コーナーを物色。 チェックアウトし、先に進んだ。 さすが重厚な建物だ。 それだけに、設備が古めかしいのはいたしかたない。 部屋にトイレがなかったのは、致命的なミスだった。 もっとよく確認すべきだった。 食事はとてもおいしく、ボリュームもちょうど良かった。 朝のお勤めも、気持ちがいい。 GOTOトラベルで格安で泊まれて、ラッキーだった。

戸隠神社の中社から比較的近く、お部屋も広めのお宿。内装もきれいでした。無料Wifiありと記載されていました、全く繋がりませんでした。 オーナーさん手打ちの戸隠そば、とあったのでこちらの宿に決めましたが、期待しすぎたのか、ちょっと残念でした。でも、それ以上にギョッとなった事が複数あり、☆１つとしました。 ① 簡易燃料を使う小鍋料理など。食事の開始時刻より早く、一方的に火を点ける。私が行った時には、既に料理は冷めていました・・・。 燃料をわざわざ使う料理は、出来立てが美味しい！のでは？料理の基本を理解していない？ ② 配膳された食事の目の前に、アルミの四角いお盆をドンと置く、無神経さ。勿論 片づけは手伝います。しかし、これは違うのではないでしょうか？ 翌朝、オーナーの目の前で、お盆を椅子の上におろしましたが、、、夕食でも変わらず、食事の目の前にドンと置かれていました。無神経と感じるのは、私だけでしょうか？ ③かけ布団は使用禁止。毛布のみ。これなら、シーツは必要です。毎日毛布を洗濯されているなら、まだしも。恐ら**うではないでしょう。 何人の人が使用したか不明の毛布を直に使うことに、とても抵抗感があり、私は持参していた大判のバスタオルをシーツ替わりにして、さらに自分の体が触れないように毛布を折って、使用しました。 こんなにギョッとした宿は、初めてです。

This is a truly authentic experience! Cosy, with traditional furniture and bed, whilst still offering very comfortable options it's the best of both worlds. Plus, the view is among the best in town and the breakfast is authentic and charming. It was a beautiful experience to say here and the fact the hosts did not speak English actually added to the experience. I'd be sure to visit again next time I'm in Nagano.

EEng KiatSotetsu fresco inn Nagano is located just 5 mins walk from Nagano high speed train station. It is easy to visit tourist places like zenkoji temple (walkable distance) and snow monkey park (take tour bus behind train station). There is a sheltered overhead bridge to the hotel. The hotel is also located near many eating places (local and international ones like Starbucks and KFC) and malls (many of them selling local produce). It’s not hard to find places to eat and shop for all meals.
The service in the hotel is good too. Staff will greet you the moment you enter the lobby and are quick in responding to your request. The toiletries are placed in the lobby and not in the room. Hence you need to take what you need before going into your room.
The room is small and the bed and pillows are soft (does sink in a bit). The window is frosted so you cannot see the outside. You will probably get a decent rest if you are staying just 1 or 2 nights. But for more nights, perhaps the room is a bit too claustrophobic as there is no room to place to place the luggage and any other accessories you may bring along. There are also only a few local channels on TV.
It was cold during winter at about 3 degrees. Thankfully the room and shower heater is effective and comfortable.
Check-in and out is fast as I just need to insert my room card into the machine.
Overall it’s a great experience and you are definitely getting more than the price you paid for.

Bbb travelsThe hotel feels new, and clean. We enjoyed the amenities of the place, and the convenience — all that one expects from a brand-name hotel. The only downside is that the room we were allocated faces the temple cemetery, which should’ve been told to us earlier upon check in. Other than that, it’s a pretty decent hotel for a quick short stay in Nagano.

PPengguna TetamuWe stayed here for a couple of nights and it was a really clean and comfortable hotel and just a 7 minute walk from Nagano Station, a 7 minute walk to bus stop 23 for the Snow Monkey Park and close to a variety of restaurants and bars. It is also 15/20 minutes to Zenko-Ji which is a beautiful Buddhist temple and well worth visiting. We didn’t have breakfast included during our stay but other guests said that it was really good. Our room was really clean, spacious and comfortable with a firm mattress, a tv, toiletries and a kettle. In reception you can help yourself to teas, coffee and other toiletries for free which was helpful. The staff were really friendly and patient as we don’t speak Japanese. Our room was next to the railway line but the sound proofing was excellent and it was so quiet and we had two good nights of sleep. A comfortable and clean hotel that is conveniently located for exploring Negano.

We have been traveling around the world for the past two years and we have stayed in many hotels. I have never written a bad review of a hotel before. This is the reason I think you should reconsider your reservation at the Mecure hotel and spa. It’s a long review, but I believe it is helpful for future travelers. We have been traveling around Japan for the past three months and we have stayed in numerous hotels in numerous cities. We absolutely love Japan and we have no complaints for any of the other hotels that we have stayed in. However, the Mecure Hotel Resort and Spa does not come close to meeting our expectations. It is the only hotel where no staff greeted us upon arrival to help with luggage. It is the only hotel that didn’t allow us to check in one hour early. Even though we know that there was only a 5-10% occupancy rate (based on the cars in the parking lot), they would not allow us to go to our room at 2 PM. - we had to wait until 3 p.m. They even kept the keys from us and we had to wait in line again to pick them up at 3 PM. One would think that they would have the welcome lounge open for people to wait for their rooms, but it doesn’t open until 3 PM. We had to lock up our luggage in order to keep it there for the hour. It was the only hotel that made us pay for ice. I did get a cup of ice in the lounge (3 cubes), but they told us we couldn’t bring it to our room. They offered us a welcome drink, but they wanted me to access the coupon on my phone on my Accor account yet they had the written coupon right there in front of them. Made no sense! Breakfast is only served from 7 AM until 9:30 AM, with the last orders being taken at 9 AM. For those of us who don’t like to get up early in the morning, that is a detrimental aspect of this hotel. We do a lot of research before we book a room at any hotel. We chose the classic twin room with a sofa bed and the mountain view. It very specifically listed “Mountain View,” and we knew we wanted that view based on our examination of Google maps of the hotel. When we arrived at our room, we looked out to see the parking lot and then the highway, and then about 5 to 7 miles in the distance we saw some mountains (see pictures below). We went downstairs to request a room change to the side that looked at the beautiful mountains and their response was “every room has a Mountain View.” That was not acceptable for us, so we had to push until they moved our room. Interestingly, the room they moved us to had a map of the mountain range that is the view. There was no such mountain map in the other room. We just examined the hotels website, and now none of the rooms have Mountain View listed, except for the junior suite. Our guess is that too many people complained when they were put in the rooms that have a view of the mountains 5 to 7 miles away. The bathroom is very very small. The furniture is adequate at best. The carpets are incredibly dirty. There are stains everywhere in the hallways and in the rooms

Shoes to be removed outside the accommodation. Rooms are on the 2nd floor so you'll have to carry your luggage up (there's no lift).
Room (with window) is huge. You'll have to head downstairs to use the shared toilet and shared onsen (no toilet inside the room).
We were only allowed 30mins of onsen time for 2 pax - couples weren't allowed to use the onsen concurrently so we had to go one after another (i'm not sure if the instructions got lost in translation..). Felt very rushed so i didnt really get to enjoy the onsen experience, but overall was nice and clean.
Interesting 6.30am tour around the area and within the temple itself, followed by a simple vegetarian breakfast (porridge with omakase-styled sides with miso soup) back at the accommodation. The morning tour lasted from 6.30am - 8.30am.
The accommodation provided a fleece blanket to each pax to bring to Zenkoji temple to keep us warm during the morning praying ceremony. We went on 30 Dec and it was SO COLD.
Overall interesting experience but accommodation price is pretty steep IMO.
