I stayed at this hotel because I wanted to experience an InterContinental property. Overall, you can clearly tell from the service that this is a high-end hotel. However, the property itself is dated, and this is quite noticeable. Location The hotel is located in the Jing’an area, around 10–15 minutes by Didi from Jing’an Temple. I found this to be a good compromise, as it allows you to avoid the heavy traffic that can be an issue in the more central areas, especially during peak hours. Hotel / Rooms The building and lobby are impressive, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Unfortunately, the property is relatively old, and this is particularly noticeable in the elevators and the rooms. The carpet and marble flooring show visible signs of wear and aging. This does not seem to be due to insufficient cleaning, but rather to normal wear and tear over time. When compared with a newer luxury hotel, the difference is quite significant, and it is clear that the property has not kept up with more modern hotels in terms of condition and design. Swimming Pool The pool is open until 10:30 PM, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the age of the property is also noticeable in the changing rooms. One important piece of feedback for the hotel: the staff should enforce the rules more strictly for the benefit and comfort of all guests. I saw a guest entering the jacuzzi without a swimsuit, which is clearly not hygienic or acceptable for other guests, especially considering that there was a clear sign stating the rules. In situations like this, I believe the staff should intervene immediately. Service / Hospitality Five stars for both the reception team, the staff at the entrance, and the housekeeping staff. I had requested a room on a high floor, and the reception team was able to accommodate my request by upgrading me to a higher-category room, which I really appreciated. Overall, the service is definitely at the level you would expect from a five-star hotel. The main area for improvement is the condition and age of the property itself.

I want to start my review from a positive things: 1. beautiful view 2. the best laser-show i’ve ever seen. 3. The room is good, well- equipped, clean and looks great! 4. Staff is friendly and ready to help in a short time. Areas for improvement: 1. Pool. You should stop operating it asap: There’re absolutely unsanitary conditions, the locker room reeks of urine, some kinds of unknown hairs is everywhere around the locker room, even in walls and doors, mold, rust, and broken furniture - that all you can meet in the pool. The pool is small, old, and only 1.2m deep. The pool is not met even minimal expectations from an InterContinental hotel. 2. Breakfast: generally - ok, for a 4 stars hotel. 3. Dirty windows in elevators spoil the beautiful view, I think you could clean in outside using a cleaner robots.

Highly recommend the Premium room with club lounge access, it provides great value for money if you have enough time to try the: - afternoon tea (2pm - 4pm) includes tea/coffee and small sandwiches, cream cakes - early evening buffet and drinks (5.30pm - 8pm) includes an excellent selection of food and as much alcohol as you can drink! - free drinks voucher for the hotel bar You pretty much don’t need to leave the hotel! The room was comfy and had all amenities you could need. However it is showing its age and there were a few issues including the blind not closing properly but they fixed this. The other issue was the bathroom door not closing properly and making an awful sound. If you’re afraid of heights then I’d recommend you don’t walk in the atrium as it will cause vertigo! A brilliant option for Shanghai, the metro is a 5-10 minute walk away.

I stayed at the InterContinental Shanghai for a business trip and was very impressed with the overall experience. The hotel's biggest advantage is its location, with the convention centre just a short walk away, making it extremely convenient for attending meetings and exhibitions. The room was clean, spacious, and well-designed for business travelers, with a comfortable workspace and reliable high-speed Wi-Fi. The staff were friendly, efficient, and always willing to help. Breakfast offered a wide variety of quality options, and the executive lounge was a great place to relax or catch up on work. Overall, this hotel provides an excellent balance of comfort, convenience, and professional service. I would happily stay here again for future business trips.

It was a really good experience that we had at Intercontinental Ruwais region. A special thanks to Mr. Jimmy who helped us secure an electric wheelchair which was very useful for my wife. We couldn't do it because of language and region restrictions, but then he went out of his way, spent more than half an hour making the booking and paid from his own pocket and got us an electric wheelchair which was very helpful. So, again, once again, special thanks to Mr. Jimmy at the concierge. Last but not the least, uh, we wish that the buffet breakfast was open till 11:00 AM because families like us with a newborn, sometimes it can get late. And I wish there were more facilities for children like a children's play area or a splash area or children's playground or something like that for children. We had a wonderful stay at InterContinental Shanghai Harbour City. All the staff were friendly and helpful, and a big thank you to Jane for upgrading our two rooms. They were spacious, functional, and had balconies with amazing lake views, and we enjoyed both the day and night scenery. The butler service was excellent, and communicating via WeChat made everything very convenient with quick and helpful responses. Jane also helped arrange a hotel van for our visit to the Shanghai Astronomy Museum. Our kids loved the welcome cute towel animals and balloon decorations on the first day. The welcome fruits and nightly sweet soup were also thoughtful touches. Breakfast was fantastic with a wide variety including local Shanghainese options. The hotel itself is beautiful, like an art piece on an island, and we highly recommend it.
