We arrived early, prior to check-in time and we had to wait hours in the lobby as we declined the offer to pay $25 extra charge for an earlier occupancy.

The communication was great, had an issue with the heat in my room and they changed my room without any problems.

The first room I checked into had an air conditioner that was as loud as an airplane engine. There was also no phone in the room, so I had to walk to the front desk to report it, and then they arranged a room change. The second room they gave me was clearly much smaller than the one I originally booked, but since I had a child with me and four suitcases, I didn’t bother asking for another change. The worst part is the air conditioner is still broken — it isn’t noisy, but the temperature keeps fluctuating between too cold and too warm.

Situated in a great location in the heart of the city in Downtown Houston with convenient access to the MetroLine Rail which is less than a 5 mins walking distance (Red line from Main Street and Green and Purple lines from Rusk Street). I was able to move around the city fairly easy.
For hotel facilities, I liked that there was a gym with free access, which included TV entertainment and a free-access laundry room with both washing machines and tumble dryers. There were drinking water fountains on each floor corridor for guests to refill on water and keep hydrated instead of requesting for more water bottles in their rooms. There were also vending machines available if preferred.
I was a little underwhelmed with the appearance of my first room. The weren't clean from the outside which affected my view. The bathroom mirrors were stained and the room space felt small even as a single guest. There was no mini fridge which I've found to be a hotel room standard and it would've been practical for storing cool drinks and snacks especially in the Texas summer heat. However, there was manually controlled air conditioning which helped. There was also no safe in my room for me to store my valuables and important travel documents which I found puzzling. Hence I requested a room change which the staff assisted me with. The second room was much better as it was a larger space which included an additional arm chair along with a small kitchenette (mini fridge, microwave and a wash-hand basin). The room was cleaner, however there was still no safe. When I enquired about it, I learnt that only some of the rooms have safes which is odd to not to be a feature in all the rooms, so I shared this feedback. Overall, the room decor was simplistic and suited towards business trip/travellers which I didn't mind. However, the rooms could be refurbished to look more modern and minimalist.
The staff were okay. They were helpful in assisting me with a room change when I wasn't happy but I didn't feel like I received exceptional customer service from any particular individual. Upon arriving, I didn't feel properly welcomed and informed about the facilities and a few staff members came across a little nonchalant in addressing queries and issues. For example, I requested a mini fridge to be added to my first room on day 1 which was meant to arrive the same day but instead arrived at my new room the following day when I made the room request showing a slow response time for when I actually needed it. Also my checkout process was very quick and I was informed that my deposit would return to my original payment card within 5 working days which did not happen and I had to follow up with manager who said he would email me to check in on the progress of the refund but I never received any further communication. I had to raise the issue with card provider who told me the the payment was marked as a pending refundable deposit and should the hotel not confirm my refund, then it would automatically be refunded back to my account after 30 days. It was extremely frustrating having to wait an entire month to receive a deposit, when I stayed in other hotels during my time in Texas whereby the deposit refund was instant upon me checking out. Needless to say that my overall experience was okay but could've been better, especially if I was staying there for the entirety of my trip. A few days staying there was enough and I would rate it a 3* rather than a 4* hotel realistically.
The facilities were satisfactory. The food was acceptable. However, I was highly dissatisfied with the front desk service. I attempted an early check-in and was informed that the earliest I could check in was 3:00 PM. When I returned at approximately 3:10 PM, I was told I would need to wait an additional 20 minutes or until 4:00 PM because the room was not yet ready. As I was leaving, I observed the two front desk staff members, who appeared to be Hispanic, laughing loudly as I exited. I then waited in my car. Shortly thereafter, I noticed several other guests entering the building and being checked in. I returned to inquire again about my room, and the staff member appeared visibly upset by my return. She checked the availability of my room and, as a result, I was assigned the last room on the first floor, which felt like a punitive measure.
We checked out on Sunday, around 11:20 AM. I received a phone call asking if I planned to check out that day. I explained that no staff was present at the front desk to process our check-out, and since we had already returned the key card, we left it in the designated return box. The front desk staff should have verified the return box before calling. Overall, the customer service experience could have been significantly improved.

It’s an old hotel with some tons of renewed. Is a good hotel. Stuff very friendly. The thing is my check in supposed to be at 4pm nas I get there 5pm and had to wait almost an hour to provide a room for me. It was PACK.

I was impressed with the service and room. The free breakfast was good. Only thing I can say that needed improvement is to have the front desk reps explain how to go into the parking garage people that I talked to all agreed it was hard to detect how to drive through the garage.
CCynister MaxwellI have been here for nearly a month and I really do not have many complaints. The stag here are very kind. They are very accommodating which is rare in the hotel industry ironically enough. They allowed my dog here and have never been disrespectful. The only complaints I have is that if I needed linens or clean towels in the middle of the night for some reason or if I needed to sweep something up and the maids are gone, you don’t get anything outside if the maids hours of operation. That’s really it!
GGuest UserI’ve been staying at this hotel for over 2 years and its always a clean, comfortable, friendly environment. I recommend this hotel to anyone that asks. It’s easily accessible. There is so many places to keep you occupied. The cleaning ladies are the sweetest people. Everyone is respectful. No worries of anything bad happening. I feel safe and well taken care of here. 10/10 recommend.
