I believe my friends and I spent Christmas eve here. Being an exchange student from England, far from home, and my friends and classmates from Latvia and Cambodia, we needed somewhere homely and comfortable to stay. This place was exactly what we needed. We stayed here for one night in the middle of winter as part of our road trip from Beijing to Wutaishan, following the sections of the Great Wall. We turned up after dark, we were welcomed with a big smile and slept with ease after the long drive. In the morning I woke up early, found a spot in the courtyard garden and opened my Christmass cards. The owners dog immediately rolled over to be petted and for the next hour I had good company, drank tea and enjoyed the peace. The owners awoke to find me outside, probably thought I was a ****** and so, immediately lit their fire in the garden. They saw me drinking tea so got the iron kettle boiling over the heat of the flames. My mates awoke to this and joined me and the boss by the fire. The outside temperature was negative, but we were warm, happy and ready for the day ahead - exploring Baishishan. The boss also showed us his great tea collection. I want to thank the owners for a short but great stay and I highly recommend. I would like to come back in spring to see their courtyard in full bloom.

I cannot recommend this farmhouse enough! If you are visiting the Jinshanling Great Wall, staying here is an absolute must. The location is perfect, featuring a beautiful rooftop terrace where you can sit and look directly at the Great Wall in total peace. The room itself was modern, and clean, with a great AC, but set right in the middle of a charming, authentic farm. But the absolute highlight of my stay was the host family. The hospitality is unmatched. The Owner Lady of the house cooked some of the most delicious, massive, and authentic meals I’ve had in China, and she went completely out of her way to make sure I was comfortable and well-fed. The food was also unbelievably affordable. The Owner truly went above and beyond for me. When I was struggling to find a reasonably priced car back to Beijing, he spent hours late at night helping me on WeChat, making sure I wasn't overcharged by local drivers. He eventually helped me find a cheap, highly scenic train route back to the city and personally drove me to the local station. They treated a solo foreign traveler like absolute family. If you want a genuine, heartwarming, and frictionless experience at the Great Wall, book this place. 太好吃了 and 谢谢 to the amazing hosts!”

Is everyone flocking to Beidaihe to escape the summer heat? It was scorching! At 10:30 AM, it was already 36 degrees Celsius outside, and the tide was out, so we couldn't even go crabbing. It's hard to book a last-minute hotel in a crowded Beidaihe. I saw reviews mentioning old facilities but had no choice but to book it. Honestly, with that expectation, it wasn't too bad. After all, the hotel is 20 years old, so maintaining it like this isn't easy. Avoid Building No. 3. The elevator constantly breaks down, which is terrifying. It was under repair when we arrived, so we had to climb the stairs, and it broke again the next day. When I reported it to the front desk, they seemed completely unconcerned, as if they were used to it. From 6 AM to 8:30 AM, there was a vibrating noise throughout the building. I thought it was a construction site, but when I asked the front desk, they said it was the kitchen machines running for breakfast. All I can do is commend their 'excellence' – I'm out of words. The hotel breakfast costs 38 yuan per person. If your room rate includes breakfast, you'll eat it and be speechless. For those who didn't book with breakfast, don't waste your money. It's even worse than a farmhouse breakfast – there's nothing, not even fried rice or noodles. I heard it's not even run by the hotel but by a partner. I saw customers arguing because the breakfast vouchers given by the hotel weren't enough, and they were counting heads, which didn't match up. These are all avoidable issues. The staff don't wear name tags, so I don't know anyone's name. If I wanted to praise someone, I wouldn't know who to mention. Overall, some service was decent. However, the security was lacking; there was no one directing parking, and no designated spots. Everyone just parked wherever they could find space. I can understand, though; it's tough for anyone in nearly 40-degree heat under the blazing sun. If there are other hotels you can book, go elsewhere. The only selling point is the small, unkempt patch of beach and rocks downstairs; there's really nothing else.

The guesthouse is at walking distance to the gate of the Jinshanling wall. The people running it are very helpful and kind and the food at their restaurant is delicious (with a lot of vegetarian options). I would recomendo this place if you are planning on visiting the wall.

The hotel upgraded our room, and the location is super convenient, close to commercial areas, hospitals, and attractions, making it easy to get around. They have accessible facilities for seniors, including ramps, and even offer a trolley service to help with luggage, which was a really thoughtful touch. It's truly a one-stop shop for everything – accommodation, dining, and travel, plus they enthusiastically explained all the local sights. We had a fantastic experience; out of all the hotels we've stayed at, this one truly stands out. I had an excellent 4-night stay at the ‘Chengde Sophia Hotel (Li Zheng Men)’. The highlight of my experience was undoubtedly the wonderful staff. From the moment I arrived, the front desk was incredibly welcoming and efficient. A staff member kindly helped me with my luggage and escorted me to my room, which was a very thoughtful touch after a long journey. This level of service continued throughout my stay, with all employees being courteous and helpful. The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable. The bed was excellent, providing a great night's sleep every night. Everything was in good working order, and the room was quiet, allowing for perfect rest. The hotel's location was convenient for my needs, making it easy to explore the area. I would highly recommend the Chengde Sophia Hotel to anyone visiting the city. It offers great value, comfort, and, most importantly, exceptional and friendly service. I would not hesitate to stay here again on my next trip to Chengde.

I originally booked a one-bedroom, but to my surprise, the host gave me a two-bedroom instead. The room was clean and tidy, and the location was great, close to Pigeon Nest Park, Laohushi Park, and Liuzhuang Night Market. Downstairs in the complex, there's a morning market, a supermarket, and a seafood market, making it super convenient for groceries. There's also electric scooter rental available for 30 yuan a day, which helped us avoid traffic and parking hassles, making getting around even easier. The host was very welcoming and promptly helped us with any issues we had. All in all, it was a fantastic surprise experience – everything from dining to accommodation to entertainment was absolutely perfect!

The room is clean and tidy, the landlord communicates in a timely manner, the snow ticket rental cabinet can be discounted, the hot spring ticket can also be discounted, you must bring your own swimming trunks in advance, otherwise you will be surprised if you buy it now.

We had a wonderful time at this hotel! The location is absolutely perfect—just a short walk from the sea, which made our trip so relaxing. What really set this place apart, though, was the owner. She was incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. She went above and beyond to assist us with everything, from giving great local directions to recommending places to eat. She was also so kind and accommodating when one of us had a specific dietary requirement at breakfast—she made sure we were well taken care of without any hassle. Communication with her was in English which made it stress-free and easy! The breakfast itself was delicious, and to top it all off, the rooms were spotlessly clean. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Highly recommended!

It is very close to the beach. Sunrise rooms are a bit far-fetched, but it is very close to the beach. It is most pet-friendly. People and cars need to be separated. It is convenient to have less luggage when entering the room. Although there is an elevator, it takes a long way to get to the registration office. . Newly renovated, the bedding and furniture are simple and clean. Beidaihe has changed its old image of being earthy and dirty. Now the roads are clean and tidy, which is very refreshing.
